I think the most tame place that's worth exploring is forum games. My experience with it has generally been a positive one.

Hey. I've read your post and I agree with you. Some of the topics in the forums are really insensitive/rude to certain groups of people.
Having been on the internet for a while I have become desensitized to most of it but I'm aware that this is not the best strategy if positive changes are to be made.
I would suggest to just ignore the shitty topics for now and just focus on the positive ones. :)
