The main similarity between the two shows is the focus on teenage detectives who solve tricks behind various crimes (most commonly murders) and are very good at it. Some of the cases they encounter are related to a criminal organization that the main characters are trying to stop.

The shows take place in the future and the histories of the worlds the main characters live in are filled with mysteries. The stories focus on teenagers/kids who find themselves in a dangerous situation and have to work together to get out of it alive. The main protagonists of both series are determined not to leave anyone of their team/family behind.

There are many things that give similar feel to these two series. 1. If I start with the most basic one; both series focus on a group of teenage girls who have to fight to save the world. 2. Both of these series can be classified as a darker spin on the magical girl genre. However, while they have a lot of darker moments they still keep the optimistic atmosphere and have plenty of humour as well. 3. Friendship (or more if you want to see it that way) of the main characters plays a big role in the stories. 4. Both of these shows end up having much more complex story than it seems at the beginning. In Symphogear this can be seen with all the seasons expanding on the story and in Yuuki Yuuna with it's various prequels (sadly not all of them have been aninmated so far). 5. Another thing I'd like to mention (even though it is probably not the most important one) is that the main characters of the two shows have very similar fightning style. They both mostly use their fists to fight while their teammates use different weapons.

We are going to Antarctica! Let's save our school by becoming idols! These are the two extremely unrealistic sounding goals that the groups of high school girls from these two anime have. Both anime focus on the friendship and journey of the characters who have gathered together to reach their goal despite the opposition they might face. Both have fun character dynamics and generally positive atmosphere with plenty of comedic moments but also get serious and dramatic at times.

Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!
add

Two groups of high school girls who are working together to achieve their goal despite it sounding highly unlikely to achieve. In case of Sora Yori this goal is going to Antarctica while in Eizouken it is creating their own anime. Goals themselves are quite different but what gives the similar feel to these two anime are relationships of the main characters; groups of girls brought together each with their own reason for reaching the common goal and they work together to achieve it despite the opposition they face on the way. Their different personaties create great interactions between them and their interactions and friendship (sorry to Eizouken girls for using that term) are really enjoyable to watch. Both have a fair share of comedic moments and generally positive atmosphere but also get serious at times. However, Sora Yori gets much more emotional than Eizouken. Another thing common to the two is adventure. Although used in very different ways it is a big part of both. For Sora Yori girls the adventure is their journey to get to Antarctica while for Eizuken girls the adventure is inside the imaginary worlds they create and want to share with other people.

AKB0048

Songs and music have the power to connect people. They have the power to save the world. AKB0048 focuses on an idol group who often has to fight during their concerts due to music being banned in many places, while Symphogear is about a group of girls who get powers to fight through singing. While they use it in different ways the two shows share the idea about the importance and power of music and they are about girls who fight while singing.

Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru
add

Two anime that focus on a group of girls who get powers to fight monsters of mysterious origin. In both of them the reasons for the fight and consequences of the powers are not clear at the beginning. Both can be considered as magical girl anime with darker twist, but at the same time they still give the feeling of hope. There is a good mix of comedy and tragic moments. There are other things that give a similar feel, however describing them into detail would go into spoiler territory of both.

Two series that might make you question what you are watching after the first few episodes but eventually pull you in and you just go along with it. Both of these anime focus on groups of teenagers that are already dead. Additionally to that there are three main reasons these two series give a somewhat similar feel: 1. The comedy of the two shows is similar at the times. It is often related to the fact that characters cannot die because they are already dead. Both also include situations that might seem ridiculous and over the top but end up being very fun to watch. 2. Music has a role in both of these anime to some degree. In Zombieland Saga the main characters are an idol group while some characters in Angel Beats are part of a band. However the former puts much more focus on this than the latter. 3. Tragic backstories of characters are included. Angel Beats puts more focus on this aspect than Zombieland Saga but both of them get quite emotional.
