Though I don't agree at all with relying on nostalgia as a scapegoat to "that's the only reason you enjoyed it" since many people can discover an old product as an adult, a lot of points in your reviews are pretty solid.
I can even admit there's some anime I watch knowing it's mindless fun and not because it's actually a good piece of media. But again, I can still enjoy it.

"same goofy story" did you miss the racism, slavery, and mass murder by the government in one piece? it as a whole is probably goofier then the other 2 of the big 3 but its dark parts are ALOT darker then anything else the others from the big 3 have.
