world of “Grimgar.” With no means of survival other than to kill monsters, “Haruhiro” starts an adventure that will further make him understand what it means to live.
To be honest, there were a lot of plot changes in “Hai to Gensou no Grimgar” if you compare it to its light novel. Some changes brought disapprovals while some were praise. One example of the changes is that the anime emphasizes the romantic scenes; I even thought that maybe the director’s field of expertise was shoujo animes. As for my opinion on the changes, it’s 50-50. I hate directors who change the plot then hog all the glory. But, I also can’t deny the fact that I like what he did. Truth be told, “Hai to Gensou no Grimgar” is my favorite anime airing this winter 2016.
ART: 9/10
The animation is like a roller coaster ride, it has some ups and downs. Sometimes the movements suck and there were also times when it is superb. Since “Hai to Gensou no Grimgar” is a RPG-like fantasy anime, the animation of the skills is a must. The animations on physical attack skills were quite plain while the magical attacks were well-detailed. As for the background, you’ll notice that most were just a repetition of frames if you put much focus on it. Still, the background is done beautifully.
The character designs were one of the changes made in the anime; it is a lot different from the light novel. Even though it is different, I love what the characters look like in both the anime and light novel.
SOUND: 10/10
The background music and voice quality were both good and appropriate for the scenes. The opening and ending song were nice too. The reason why I gave it a perfect score is due to the addition of insert songs; almost all of the episodes have a nice song inserted in it.
CHARACTERS: 9/10
Just like what I have mentioned above, the anime emphasizes the romantic scenes. And because of that change, a war has broken out in the social media. People are arguing on who is the best “waifu” in “Hai to Gensou no Grimgar.” As for me, “Mary” is the best girl! Even if ever the director decided to tone down the sweet moments, the characters were great for me. Since the story is set in a serious predicament, the characters were sure to be noteworthy.
ENJOYMENT: 10/10
Since it is my favorite anime airing this season, it’s a perfect score. I really enjoy animes that has a serious plot with a touch of romance. With my excitement for “Hai to Gensou no Grimgar” reaching its peak, I even downloaded an English translated light novel of it. I want to know the character developments as soon as possible.
My overall score for “Hai to Gensou no Grimgar” is 9, it’s not a masterpiece but it surely gave me a nice time watching it. With how the anime concluded, I feel like it won’t have any sequel. There were some key characters that are not introduced in the anime such as “Souma.” Thus I think that a continuation to the story is impossible. That’s why I decided to read its light novel; I want to see what awaits “Haruhiro” at the end of his journey.

“Boku dake ga Inai Machi” or “Erased” is another addition to the growing number of time-travel anime. This anime caused a huge uproar to MAL users when it started, it only took the first episode to drop it at rank 25 at the all-time anime rankings and it continued climbing the ladder every week. caption stating that the first episode of “Erased” is what every anime should strive for, and I truly agree in that. Episode 1 is like the prelude to climax already, it feels like you’ve already watch half of an anime series. With all that said, “Erased” is not just about its pilot episode, the whole story itself is magnificent! Now let’s get things started.
STORY: 9/10
Part of being human is having regrets. And through having regrets, you’ll wound up thinking wishful things like “if I had done this” ”if I had done that.” Still, we cannot turn back the time. Life is not as considerate as a digital game; it has no save points and your only choice is to move forward. However, “Fujinuma Satoru” is different. He got an out of this world ability that most humans would want to have; he can undo his previous actions for a better outcome. He sometimes goes back between one to five minutes in time whenever something bad is about to happen. In that short amount of time, he searches for something that is amiss to prevent the worst-case scenario. As grand and heroic as it sounds but this entire feat is not through his will, it just happens automatically and he sometimes gets the receiving end of the incident he prevented. He named this phenomenon as “Revival.” Now let’s go for the plot. “Fujinuma Satoru” is a 29 years old striving manga author and he’s been living his life in peace when a life-changing event happened; his mother got murdered and he is the prime suspect. Amidst the confusion, his “Revival” triggered. Then, he finds himself more than five minutes back in time, he returned to 18 years from his past. It is the time where he has to face his greatest regret, the time before the disappearance of his fifth grade classmate; “Hinazuki Kayo.” Now back in his 11 years old body, “Satoru” deduced that preventing “Kayo’s” demise might be the key in changing the future. Thus begins the tale of a prince’s struggle in saving his princess, the great story of resisting fate.
ART: 7/10
The character design and facial expressions are ok. The background is well-done if you take a better look at it, one example of it is ”Satoru’s” footprint on the snow at the beginning of episode 10.
SOUND: 6/10
The background music is good and appropriate for the scenes. The ending song is ok. What has to notice is the opening song, it is freaking awesome! The song’s title is “Re:Re:” and it is sang by “Asian Kung-Fu Generation.” It’s a pretty lame band name and it is my first time hearing about them but damn! That song is just too great that it even gave me an earworm.
CHARACTER: 8/10
The characters were great. Truth be told, there were a lot of fans who got disappointed in “Erased’s” character developments. Just like what I have mentioned above, it started at rank 25 and continued rising till rank 5. But, when episode 11 got out, I saw its rank went down for the first time. Right now it’s on rank 10. Well, as for me, the character developments were fine. It’s appropriate and realistic for how the plot proceeded.
ENJOYMENT: 10/10
I got my Steins;Gate syndrome back! My feeling in watching “Erased” is similar to how I felt when I first encountered “Steins;Gate.” These two anime were awesome and they both tackles time travelling. In addition, both don’t show any preview for the next episode that it got me feeling like “What the f**k!” “Are you f**king serious!” every time an episode ends and I feel like wanting more. Well, you won’t feel this way now that it’s done, you can watch it non-stop. What is adding more to the excitement in “Erased” is the thrill in figuring out who the culprit is; this serves as the main engine for boosting the enjoyment in watching it.
My overall score for “Erased” is 9. One last push and I might have given it a perfect score, too bad that push never came. Still, I can’t deny that it truly is a masterpiece and it surely did leave a mark in the history of anime. I bet the talks about “Erased” won’t die anytime soon and its legacy will continue to amaze people. If you haven’t seen it yet then you better start now to understand the difference between great and crap animes. Well, that wraps it! See you on my other reviews!

WARNING!! Extremely funny. Make sure you would not bother anyone when you are laughing.
Here’s a glimpse of my life, I’m an insomniac and I’m watching anime when everyone is asleep. Now, try imagining what happens when I loudly burst into laughter while watching anime in the silence of the night. Pretty darn comedic, right? Well, that happened to me a lot and the very cause for that is “Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!” or “KonoSuba!” for short. It is a riot, you won’t survive watching it without giving a laughter. For me, this is unexpectedly one of the best animes airing this winter 2016.

There are many reasons why I considered it great. First is it makes me laugh. Second is it makes me laugh. Third is it makes me laugh. Lastly, it makes me laugh like a fool! Truth be told, “KonoSuba!” is not only about making the audience have a comical time. There are also other determining factors to consider it a great anime. Let’s start addressing each.
STORY: 6/10
“Satou Kazuma” is a “hikikomori,” he is your typical gamer guy who don’t socialize with others. One day, he decided to go out with a goal in mind, to buy a popular game. After finishing his business, he headed off to go home when an accident occurred; the very moment that will change his life. He saved a girl that was about to be hit by a truck, therefore taking the hit in her stead. He died due to his heroic act and soon met the goddess “Aqua.” She told him about the last moments of his life, about what REALLY happened. The story is… he died in vain. The girl he saved is not in any risk because the car that is about to hit her is no truck, it’s a tractor. “Kazuma” just mistook it for a truck due to his eyes not being able to adapt to the sunlight because of his “hikikomori” lifestyle. So did he die after being hit by the tractor? The answer is NO. The tractor came to a halt and he just died in shock. Couldn’t get anything funnier than that? Well, here comes the laugh trip. He wet himself the moment he died, the doctors and his parents couldn’t stop laughing after he was rushed to the hospital. “Aqua” also couldn’t stop laughing and that made “Kazuma” mad. “Aqua” gave him two choices: first is to go to heaven, the second is to start a new life in a parallel world with his memories and body intact. With his gamer instincts kicking in, he chose the latter. He’ll be resurrected to a RPG-like fantasy world with the goal of suppressing the Devil King. He was also given the choice to bring one thing whether it is a special weapon, item, or ability. With his anger to “Aqua” reaching its peak, he chose her. Thus, the curtain rises for “Kazuma’s” great comedic adventure in order to slay the Devil King.
ART: 8/10
The character design and facial expressions were nice. The background is well detailed; one example of it is the realistic embers of the burning wood at the beginning of episode 8. Since the story is set in an RPG-like fantasy world, the animations of the skills are one of most important factors to look. Thank God, “Studio Deen” delivered it in an awesome manner; the skills’ animations were superb!
SOUND: 6/10
The background music is good and appropriate for the scenes. The voice actors were good too; they delivered the emotions of the line very well. I salute “Fukushima Jun” for voicing “Satou Kazuma.” Even the smallest line that is delivered well in a funny scene makes me laugh out loud.
CHARACTER: 7/10
Like what I’ve mentioned above, “KonoSuba!” is a riot. The very reason for that were the characters, it’s like the oddest and funniest combination of people you’ll see in a kill or be killed world. Who would have thought of a party consisting of a masochist tank, a main damager that can only cast one skill, and a very dumb support? In addition, who would have thought that this pathetic party’s goal is to slay the Devil King? Well, that’s what makes “Satou Kazuma’s” life vivid.
ENJOYMENT: 8/10
I never got bored on watching “KonoSuba!” I really enjoyed it. I always have a good laugh watching its episodes; it’s like my stress reliever.
My overall rating for “KonoSuba!” is 7. My score may be low but I can’t deny the fact that it gave me a nice time, I really like it. It only has 10 episodes but there has been an announcement that it’ll have a second season. Well, I knew it. Considering the rise in the sales of its Light Novel, a sequel is expected. That wraps it!
