Short anime are not everyone's cup of tea. It's doubtful many people will even stumble across this 2 ep OVA since it is so old. But since both reviews are old and negative/mixed, here is an alternative perspective.
Story: 7
You have to go into this anime with the right perspective. It is short. It is going to be rushed. Obviously, the story suffers. And the story is naturally simple and can be summed up in one sentence: "Boy can't paint anymore, childhood friend is sad and tries to help him while she also sees other girls come close to him and gets jealous." are an artist or a romantic, this story of someone who is struggling to paint- and romance- is still a well done simple concept. The one trope that is overused that lowers the score is as each girl character appears and is somehow connected to our MC, the camera zooms in on the girl's face, showing her jealousy. But while this is not very well done, and kind of meaningless- the main focus is the relationship between the MC and the main girl. Everything else is just extra to develop the main characters that goes by pretty quickly.
Art: 7
The art is what you would expect from an OVA made nearing 20 years ago. The art is simple, but it is well done for what it's worth. It's representative of the anime of the time- and surprisingly good at some points.
Sound: 7
With no time for OPs or EDs, the background music is the only thing to judge. It's decently good. It doesn't distract overly, but it does enhance solidly.
Character: 9
Again, this is with the understanding that it's a 2 episode anime. It's not going to have the deepest characters developed over 50 eps. But for what it is, they have cute, well developed characters and I find myself rooting for them. They are flawed, and they are human, and while they are very stereotypical like most anime- *the clingy childhood friend*, *the tsundere*, *the tomboy*, etc. They are still presented well.
Enjoyment: 9
The big thing here is that this is also from a VN, similar to Canvas 2. But this one being an OVA, it does go into more mature visuals and concepts in terms of the MC and main girl's relationship. If you enjoy VNs where they usually culminate the relationship in an emotional love scene, then the payoff for these 2 eps is pretty nice. The characters feel like they genuinely care for one another and I was happy for their successes in life and together. It isn't a perfect romance, but I will be remembering this series.

It's rare to see an anime's review section so filled with hatred, anger, and vitriol. Top reviews raging and cursing and bemoaning the anime. I don't normally bother with reviews but in this case I shall present a differing viewpoint.
Kamisama ni Natta Hi requires foreknowledge, and a choice before watching. Jun Maeda is the creator, he of all the Key visual novels and anime. From Kanon, Air, Clannad, Angel Beats, Little Busters, Rewrite, Charlotte. He is the inventor of the Nakige, a crying game. Most anime fans will know some of these anime he has made and know the formula he follows. This anime follows

it too, and if that's a problem for you, don't bother watching it. To be clear, this anime is immensely flawed, even if you enjoy it you will see these flaws. It just depends on how important they are to you.
But if you enjoy the humour style he goes for and can appreciate the emotional pull that his stories go for, and know that the second half of the anime is going to take a sad twist, then this anime is a very good watch.
STORY: 7
This is a tough choice as the story itself isn't bad, it's more that the execution of a good story is done poorly at times. Things feel forced and rushed. Plot points are explained but shallowly. Some of this is the problem with 1-cour anime. But a lot isn't. It's the tip of the iceberg of what could have been. But even so, none of this is bad. It's just bland as it ends up a less well formed story when it could have been impressively intriguing. Instead, it ends up middle of the road, but helped up by some unique and intriguing plot points throughout the story (exploring some interesting and uniquely memorable territories for anime) that kept things going.
ART: 10
As usual with PA Works, the animation is stunning. The landscapes and scenery almost make this anime worth watching on its own. If this could go above ten it would. The character art is mostly generic but with a twist, some of them are striking. But the 10 comes from the environment. Beautiful.
SOUND: 10
Jun Maeda has been making songs with Yanagi Nagi as Flaming June, and revisits that side passion here for the op and ed. They collectively are excellent, including the bgm. If you hate piano music in the background then this anime may not be for you, but it is visual novel style emotional piano music that is at the top of its game. Even if the timing for it to play feels forced sometimes, the op ed and bgm are all beautiful and with the art, make this an amazing sensory environment worth watching for these alone.
CHARACTER: 6
Characters get little to no depth. Pretty much every character does get a backstory scene, but they're short and shallow for the most part. Characters that could have been striking and deep get a little screentime then disappear to the shadows to only make occasional agreeable comments to show that they still exist to show the MC's collection of followers is still strong. The MC barely has any personality shown which makes his actions feel inconsistent and bland at times. Even the characters shown the most still end up lacking. But even though this may sound very negative, they're still fine characters. Some of them are even interesting and slightly above average to bring this score up. But they are far more lacking than they could be if they were properly developed and less shallow.
ENJOYMENT: 10
Now this may not make sense as the overall is mostly average aside from the art and sound. But I enjoy dramatic and emotional anime. I have played the Key visual novels. This anime is greatly flawed and lacking in many facets. And yet, it's Jun Maeda. He creates a story that is unique. Each episode is at least slightly different than what you would typically see characters engaging in. The art and sound are amazing. The humour is enjoyable for me. I can look past things occasionally feeling forced or shallow to see the whole picture that this anime encompasses. The question is if you can?
OVERALL: 9
If you have a fondness for "melodramatic" anime such as Clannad, Ef a Tale of Memories (Melodies), then you probably can extract some enjoyment from this one. If however, you've had less interest in anime such as Charlotte in recent years, considering Jun Maeda's work as "outdated" then don't bother with this. To enjoy this you have to be able to look past the surface flaws. They aren't so great that you can't see what's behind it if its the kind of thing you like. And if it isn't, don't watch it to begin with, go watch attack on titan or something.
It's incredibly unfair to look at this anime expecting it to be some modernized thing. For Maeda to abandon his writing style. People are wanting it to just be a slice of life comedy. That's like asking for a Higurashi anime to be a slice of life and never have the horror twist. That's what this is. You shouldn't watch Higurashi if you're not a horror fan. If you aren't an emotional drama fan you shouldn't watch this. And even if you are, you have to be prepared to look past the blemishes on this one and you may just find something pretty memorable.

I had Iriya no Sora on my list for a long time. Having greatly enjoyed HanTsuki, six episodes isn't a flaw to me, so I was looking forward to it. What I found was an interesting anime to analyze, one that's deeply flawed yet touching.
Story 6: The story is jumbled towards the beginning. The scene is never truly set, characters react to extreme events and statements far more matter of factly than if it were set in modern time. set in the future, but for the most part the main character is largely in the dark as to what's going on as well, which is why you learn as it goes on. However, there are multiple points in the story where it's easy to tell parts are missing, and it causes it to feel disjointed at times.
Art 7: The art is pretty standard for an anime from 2006 or so. It's nothing that stands out overly for good or bad. For it's time though, it's fine.
Sound 8: The opening is very nostalgic of the openings from that same time, such as for Air, or HanTsuki. Otherwise the ending was rather unremarkable, and the sound in the anime aren't overly impressive, but again for an old anime that's pretty standard, so for me the op bumps up the score.
Character: 6 From the start, as much as I wanted to like the characters, and I did, it was still easy to see their flaws. Far too easy. The main character is pretty standard. Overly polite and pushover and nice. The girl is also pretty bland. A lot of their interactions are him just talking at her. She is a pretty character, and the development of her backstory does explain why she is. Part of that was due to the story and the lack of time to develop characters. However then I look at anime like HanTsuki, with very tight, consistent development. It was still easy to get attached to the characters, however there are times when they act contrary to their personalities. Obviously characters don't always act the same, but when it's a change on the spur of the moment, completely out of the blue that the nice main character acts like a jerk, it's still grating and shows the characters needed to be fleshed out more first.
Enjoyment 8: In spite of its flaws, I did enjoy the series. It's emotional, touching, even if it's nothing truly special. But for six episodes, it is worth it. However it's also easy to see that if someone would get irritated by the two main characters not having much for personalities, then it would not be for them.
Overall 7: It's a good anime, touching on the subjects of love, protecting one another, and how far you can let loved ones go, with a heartbreaking twist. However, its flaws are far too pronounced, even if I try to dismiss them, to rate it higher than this. Solid, and one that I certainly don't regret watching, but that could certainly be better and to some extent is a husk of its true potential.
