Asou Daisuke is a high school student and a gifted artist - but he is currently suffering from a block, which keeps him from painting. His childhood friend, Tachibana Amane, who loves him deeply, persuades him to do a portrait of Kimikage Yurina, a girl with a heart condition, before Yurina undergoes surgery. In the process of rediscovering his art, Daisuke also realises the love that he and Amane feel for each other.
I suppose this anime was decent at best. I didn't really expect much out of 2 episodes, so I guess it did exceed my expectations. The story was rushed, but I guess that's to be expected. The art and animation were also very poor, but you can't really expect more from low-budget OVAs. The characters had a surprising amount of depth to them. They acted in ways that really exceeded my expectations. They actually had deep and complex emotions, unlike you ordinary OVA character, so I came away impressed by that. Overall, it wasn't a total waste of time to watch this series, but it
wasn't a life-changing experience either. I would recommend it to anyone who has seen Canvas 2 or has little time and wants to watch a quick romance. Beware, this show does contain a small amount of hentai, but there is worse out there. If you have some time to kill with nothing better to do, try this show.
i cannot begin to believe that something as pathetic as this would exist in the first place, canvas 1 is not only one of the worst anime that i've ever seen but IS the worst anime that i have seen, i now know why many fans of anime have never heard of this title
story: pretty hard to understand, you will have to wait atleast 5 minutes to have the slightest clue what is going on exactly, even after then you still may not get it, but it apparently is about some kid named daisuke who has an interest in painting, while the other half is
about some schoolgirl trying to win him over from others, that's about everything you need to know for the story
art: this bad excuse for an anime makes even the naruto and bleach filler artwork look good, the pc game is much better with detail but at times the ova is too ugly to look at
sound: if you hate your anime having little or no deep speaking voice actors then this is right for you, or not... i cannot stand the main character daisuke's voice, i found it to be equivalent to the 4kids voice of luffy, this was possibly the only redeeming factor of this anime as i did not find the other voice actors to be all that bad
character: you have your usual harem cast here, who lack originality in personality, however instead of the single male character which might be liked by viewers, the one in this ova was the opposite
enjoyment: my enjoyment quickly turned to hatred one episode in, which was atleast 5 minutes, if you managed to like both episodes then you are only kidding yourself
overall: i am glad that an anime such as this only has 2 episodes and is not known to the public, because it does not deserve to be known, i can also now see why something like this would not be dubbed or aired on tv
do yourself a favor, watch canvas 2 instead
and if you happen to find a copy of the first canvas ova, either ingore or destroy it in anyway possible
at first i though that this was just an introduction of characters for an anime that's coming up, but i was completely wrong. instead it was a very short anime that moves at an extremely fast pace.
i it was a real disappointment how they begin the story. it begun like it's already pass the first episode, and moving to the middle of the story. seems like they really rush in making this, since when the scenery change, it's like changing a slide with a blink of an eye. it occur to me that this anime is terribly made, for the story line is
hard to understand. starting out barely even explaining the characters, and doesn't even tell about the background of the anime.
the art is in a really bad quality, for the people right now, but looking at the date that this anime was made and published, i would say that it really wasn't a bad job. the scene was nice, having a nice color and image in the anime, although the shadows of things weren't really that great i think it looks just fine.
for some people that might have watch this, few may not realize that the sound are started, and ended like movies from the old days, such as the 90s. the sounds of the characters talking was sometime low and quiet, but abruptly changed to a loud tone that just freak me out. the people talk and talk, switching from one person to another with very little pause in between. talking like they don't even have to breath in between.
i think the characters are fine. it's not bad how it is, but it does have rooms for improvement.
though i thought that it would be great, it's not really that good. it's a very old anime, so i don't have much grudge for it. probably the only part that actually interest me was that there's many girls in the school that like the protagonist. that's probably the only thing i do like, but some other people may enjoy something different, and dislike something that i don't
overall i gave it a 7. it's really not that good in my opinion, but it's an old anime so i kinda understand how people don't really put much effort into this 2 episodes ova. who knows, some may like it more than others, but i think that the rating of this anime is just completely wrong. HOW in the is it rated R if it doesn't even have any sex appeal or violent to keep away from children? i think that no one really cares about this anymore but just putting it out there, if you don't really wanna waste time then i suggest that people don't have to force themselves to watch this anime, since someone, like me, would probably be pissed off after watching this, wondering how the hell they made this an anime.
