Wholesome non-toxic romance! People dating from the start of the show! Actually talking through problems! No manipulative nonsense! Humour not based around cruelly making fun of people! Healthy friendships as well as romantic relationships! Wholesome shoujo rom-coms light on the melodrama are not easy to find.

Shorts about tasty bar food! Wakako-zake is set in the real world and Isekai Izakaya in a not-so-real world.

- Love troubles - Teenagers - Similar art style around the face - Lots of crying (by the characters mostly, but idk I guess if you cried at one maybe you'll also cry at the other???) Most importantly, the MC has very similar backstories: popular smart kid who fell behind somehow but is back because of the sudden appearance/reappearance of a magic manic pixie girl. MC's more chill in FranXX though. AnoHana is easier to take seriously because there aren't overt in-your-face sexual overtones every shot, but the voice acting is smoother in FranXX.

Shows about frustrated teens for frustrated teens. Kuzu no Honkai is for XXX than FranXX though.

JoJo is the gold (platinum?) star standard when it comes to things likely to be referenced to by chuunibyou characters, and Inou-battle is no exception. Whilst I wouldn't recommend Inou-battle to JoJo lovers, but I do think anyone who's watched Inou-battle without watching/reading JoJo should correct that life-error immediately. You must have missed so many references...

- Special Mary Sue with super special power to see spirits, very kind very quiet very used to being alone - Sudden marriage to mean looking supernatural entity, but haha it's okay because they can be really good looking haha - Male MCs are really creepy and say unacceptable thing but haha it's okay because they're good looking and aren't human haha - Make lots of other supernatural friends along the way KnY protag is more plucky than MnY as a result of a more healthy upbringing, MnY protag is extremely emo. Both have tragic pasts enhanced by cringeworthy writing. KnY is set in Japan with Japanese supernatural creatures as the main supporting cast, and MnY is set mostly in the UK with a hotchpotch of Western supernatural creatures.

Doki doki romantic potential reverse harem situations with kind plucky female heroine and yokai/ayakashi/spirits/supernatural entities friends. Cherry blossoms and slow-mo kimono flowing scenes at every opportunity. Similar art style to boot.

Referential comedy in a workplace setting. The kind of show where you either get the joke or you don't - and have to look up the references you didn't get, or worse go away feeling like you've missed a joke but not knowing where the reference even was because it's all very low-key. Not (usually) laugh-out-loud hilarious, more pleasing chuckles that leave you satisfied.

Nostalgia for times gone by, with a touch of old Ghibli-style magic.

Nice art and animation with lots of ecchi scenes, forceful and strong headed female love interest. Also similar style of onscreen text to accompany narration. FranXX is like Monogatari running on x0.1 speed with none of the quirky artistic charm. Theme and setting aside ofc.

Light-hearted shows with terrible pun-based char names to bring a smile to your day. Also, questionable marsupial voiced by Sugita.

- Small town mystery feel - Jazzy music that doesn't quite fit but the contrast in turn makes it good - Superpowers with a history (backed by powerful pseudoscience) - Mysterious cult The cast of Ghost Hound is on average younger than Kokkoku but the chars in Kokkoku aren't exactly very well written adults so there's v little practical difference.

If you liked Occultic;Nine add

...then you might like Kokkoku add

- Very large and diverse cast - Winding story - Funky music - Superpowers and mystery - Lots of death and blood - Tense atmosphere The art in Occultic;Boob is nicer but the artists behind Kokkoku has a better understanding of female anatomy. Both shows also share similar short-comings but if you were able to enjoy one, give the other a try.

Where one of the main characters is an elderly man with superpowers. Also similar atmosphere, gory themes with lots of violence and action. Not many shows around with elderly people (60+ or at least looking 60+) as protagonists but that doesn't necessarily the ones that are around are any good...

Cute cat shorts to sooth your frayed and exhausted soul. Chi has more baby talk, and HataNii has more animal jokes.

Biology/animal behaviour references. Silver Spoon is about humans at an agricultural college where as Hataraku Onii-san is about college cats doing part-time work, encountering many other species along the way who all have their quirks. Both have a very wholesome feel.

...then you might like Citrus add

Broken teenagers, on screen kisses, toxic relationships, love drama, etc. Kuzu no Honkai at least had some character depth and nice art/music going for it.

The original Parasyte manga draws inspiration from Nagai Go's classic Devilman, and this is pretty clear in both adaptations. Both: - Modernisations of an old classic - Boy obtains alien superpower that changes him, physically and mentallly - Blood and gore and death and dark broody questions - Character designs that look different from the run-of-the-mill anime style - E D G Y factor off the charts, inevitable really considering the source material Both can comes of cheesy at times because of the age of the source material, but Devilman takes that in its stride, almost mocking itself. Parasyte tries to be more serious which sometimes backfires.
