I love Digimon franchise. Every new series is different and makes it feel fresh, even if the similar formula is used (like evolving, which is crucial part of any Digimon). Ghost Game was no exception for this. But this time they took a different approach. As the title of the series implies, is kind of horror story. And maybe it's not as scary as the horror movies, but it gets some creepy moments. That kind of story is even more different than all the other series compared together.
When it started it had a very great potential. First episode was big with plot revolving around digimon
...
stealing time from people. It had also great opportunity to make what Adventure 02 did wrong - the multiple side evolutions. And it actually did pretty good job with it. But there are always two sides of the coin and unfortunately I can't call Ghost Game a good series. The problem wasn't with characters or evolutions. It wasn't with the episodes itself. But with lack of plot. You quickly realize that You don't even know what direction is the anime going to. You watch new digimons that wreaks havoc and then being pacifized by the team. Every episode looks like this. New digimon. New problem. Problem resolved. But there was no significance to the plot whatsoever. Then they were giving some glimpses of something. But it was just small stuff. You couldn't get much of these scattered pieces of information. There was only one thing that was known from pretty much start - Gammamon is key to what is happening. But in what way? I've watched every single episode and impatiently waited for any plot to emerge, any villain to appear. But we actually got plot bomb at the end of 64th episode. Just like that, totally unexpected. And the last three episodes 65-67 were actual plot of the show. No, I'm not exaggerating. Even digimons that acted like they could have be involved with plot, weren't. And they even mocked us with just easily removing these bad digimons from the plot.
I won't call this show a good one, but there was many great stuff in it, nonetheless. For example trio of main characters weren't Your typical characters. Hiro wasn't 100% positive like Taichi, Daisuke or Takato. Kiyoshiro wasn't edgy as Yamato or Kouji. And Ruli weren't just a supporting "female" character that is just background for the "male lead". But instead every one of them were... not what I would expect. Hiro still is very positive one, but lacks that naivety of most of flat archetype type characters like Taichi or Takato. He is more decisive in his actions and also more responsible. Kiyoshiro is scaredy cat, but has some kind of responsibility on his shoulders and Ruli is often a way to find information of what is happening, because she is kinda like Instagram star. She has her own account on social media, where she posts paranormal stuff, so people often are commenting there when they see something off. And all that is also connected to their three digimons that has their own uses. Notably, Jellymon is kinda support/healer of the team, but not in bad way. She is important. Obviously, Gammamon gets most of the spotlight, but I feel like both Jellymon and Angoramon got more attention that usually deuteragonists are getting. I would compare it to Yamato and Gabumon or more Takeru and Hikari. They were still important. The problem with lack of attention started when we got higher level evolutions. With Adult level it was still sufferable, but when Perfect and Ultimate happened, they were pushed to the back, so the Gammamon could shine like a star (pun intended; for those who don't know... Gammamon has connection to stars... gamma rays, his evolutions and so on). I also mentioned Gammamon's multipl evolutions. Yes. This is something that Adventure 02 already did with Armor Evolutions, bu they made it so these evolutions are only viable once and never more. This wasn't the case here, because Gammamon often used different types of his evolutions, depending on what he needed at time. That was the proper way for doing this. As much as I like Armor Evolutions, they were just redundant, because new digimon had to get new Armor Evolution, so only that digimon and that evolution of them was important in the episode. That was done better in Ghost Game. Other good sides of the show are that it could get really creepy at times. It wasn't always the case that we got happy ending. And even if we get, the episodes could make You shiver. Many of the digimons that appeared once, appeared more on later episodes. And some of the digimon characters were appearing in more important times. Something like Gennai in Digimon Adventure, that helps the kids do their mission. Many of them helped Hiro's team in their perils. They weren't one time characters. Of course, not every single digimon reapperead, but many of them did.
So, basically... there are both good and bad sides to the show. It had great potential. If plot was done properly instead of ignored till the very end, it could be even the best series of Digimon. Instead, they used great parts but totally messed the most important - plot, which made it far worse than it should be.
Don't expect it to be totally bad. Neither expect too much of it. It was still fun to watch for me, especially if I took the episodes being just single episodes and not the whole show. If I take it as a whole, the plot is just bad, especially when it was only 3 last episodes. They had to rush everything suddenly after making veeeeeeery slow progress for the 64 episodes and suddenly making everything starting and resolving in last 3. That was ridiculous. Not to mention, I didn't really like that plot that much. I expected much, especially after waiting for so long to finally see what it is all about.
So that's it. If You want to see if You'd like it or not, the first episode is actually the best and is really great. You'd get a glimpse of how creepy this show can be. But then we will get hills from that point. Some episodes were better, some were boring. But if You really want to decide, i recommend watching at least first episode and You'd understand what it is about.

So I love spiders, so what?
I pick Kumo desu ga, nani ka? to watch for a simple reason. One, spiders are cute and two I am really intro transformations and it includes reincarnations. Isekai part is just a bonus, but I am always interested in stories where a character becomes something else. I expected something of a cute fantasy story, but instead... well that's definitely not what I thought Kumo desu ga, nani ka? will be...
At first, I thought "Oh, so it's a totally comedy anime", but then some thing were more intriguing and a little more serious. Then it was sad when I learned
...
one fact regarding Feirune and her wish for some person. But it didn't last long until the anime became very ominous in nature. Yes, that's the word. From a simple fantasy story to gag anime to seriousness to actually very ominous thing. Especially when they hinted what will Kumoko do or what she was doing at that time. She wasn't the sweet overjoyed overexcited character anymore. I mean, she was... but she was also merciless.
Kumo desu ga, nani ka? is a story that is more than it seems at first glance. It starts as very innocent cute gag anime, but quickly becomes gravely serious. And the amount of plotting, twists and unexpected turns are hard to count. I guessed some thing right. But then I still was surprised by other stuff. And after watching the whole season, I still have more questions than I had before.
Kumoko is cute character, but don't be deceived by her nature. She is often merciless to these who get in her way. She isn't a bad character, but she isn't Your average good hero either. Story is about two paralel event that will be linked from time to time also explaining some stuff periodically. You will get some answers, but then more question will pop up and after watching the whole season You will have more to ask...
The world there revolves around group of reincarnated kids that become people and monsters in another world. How and why that happened? What is their role there? They use skill and level up systems. Sometimes even evolving into more powerful creature. Skills are important part of the show. They sometimes make something available, that wasn't before. Also there are titles that gives bonuses. Basically it's like big MMORPG in real life.
It's hard to say more than that without any spoilers. I just want to give You an idea what is this about. It looks like cute, non-serious story, but it's more ominous than many shows I ever watched. Main character is actually very interesting. She is kinda hilarious, but she can also be serious when she needs to. And there is more drastic gore than You would expect too. Sometimes the gore is even caught in the joke as well. I especially like one specific scene and what happened afterwards. Kumoko is actually clever, but sometimes doesn't think things through and gets into trouble quickly. But the way she overcomes these troubles... that's something worth seeing.
I recommend this anime. I give it 10/10. Both, because it's gravely serious and ominous mixed with comedy and also because it's more than You can see at first glance.

I am simple man. When I see something adorable or just a thing I like, I'm easily interested in that. That was how I decided to watch Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken. I expected a very simple, light story with a cute character that I would like just for being a slime and not much more. Man, how wrong I was...
That's rare that from a character that is cute (I REALLY love slimes, they are so awesome and interesting creatures) I would rather prefer human form over the one that I like by appearance. It tells so much how I like Rimuru for how he
...
is, instead of who he is. I mentioned I am simple man. Yes, because if there is something cute, like slime I like it by default.
But let's get to the actual review, which will be covering all the seasons that exist, which is currently 2. I expected something of a simple story without really much to it, but I've got one of the best anime I have ever watched. I love how distinctive all the characters are, even though there is really so many of them. Almost every character has its role, personality and they are not left aside. For example, I expected Gobta to be boring, weak character. Nothing of that kind! He isn't the main character, but he is already interesting.
First season was kinda... boring and bland. I loved the show for the characters and its uniqueness, but the story was rather simple and without twists and the major issue was that everything ended too quickly. There is a big problem, Rimuru comes, Rimuru pwns everyone and everything is done. That was improved in second season, where there was added more depth to the world. Something that was rather straightforward, without any excitements became a more serious story about perseverance. The threat became real, the enemies became more vivid, more fearful.
As for now, the story isn't yet concluded. It's based on Light Novels, so before anime gets adapted fully, some time must pass. But the finale of second season easily intrigued me and I want to see what's next.
Also I didn't read a novels yet, I plan to do so, but for the anime, it's amazing show. And I can easily say it's worth watching. For amazing characters, interesting plots and everything else.
PS There is few unexpected turns of events in second season, as well as some stuff that isn't yet concluded, because it's not finished yet.

Dragon Pilot is surprisingly very good anime. I started watching it mainly because I like weird stuff and things that other people say are weird, are interesting to me. But instead I've watched simple, yet really enjoyable story of a girl who just wanted to find her dreams and protect those, who she cherishes.
Story is very simple, yet unique at some parts. It's usual classic main character saving the day or doing something special, nobody else could, but at this time I felt like many of the elements were unique to Dragon Pilot. Main character is a girl that says too much and can't lie,
...
often hurting others. She is self loathing from time to time, because of that trait. But she find someone who let her be herself. That someone loves to swallow her to his stomach. Literally. But apart from that, the anime isn't at all gross. It has few vomiting scenes, but it's rather lightly animated, so nothing that You wouldn't want to see.
What I enjoyed the most is the bond between Hisone, the main girl character and Hisotan, a dragon, that is kind of... symbiotic organism, called Organic Transformed Flyiers, called OTF for short. OTFs swallow dragon pilots and let them control them from inside. As much as it sound weird, it's really enjoyable story. Hisone tries her best to not only pursue her dreams, but also not let anyone down, but she has a long way to do that. Long way, though it's just 12 episodes.
What else can I say? Give it a try. Don't let weird setting make You reject this anime. It may sound like something for vore fetishist, but really it's far more than that and actually people who love vore wouldn't have much to enjoy there anyway, because despite having this swallowing thing, it isn't vore oriented.
Also, my rating is probably a bit high, but I still think the anime doesn't deserve anything below 7. I gave overall rate of 8, because I believe it's really special.

I am Digimon fan since original anime aired in my country in '90s. I watched almost every single TV show, including tri. I didn't yet watch Xros Wars and Applimon series, but I am up to date with Ghost Game. I had different opinions on different series. There were series I didn't like and those that I adore. Despite those, every one of them had both good and bad sides. There is no flawless series, neither there is series that is completely bad... Or is it?
As a big fan of Digimon, whose favorite series is original Adventure (it's both my favorite Digimon and ex aequo
...
favorite anime with Slayers) I was really interested and curious about it. I was hyping, but I knew that I have to hold my horses until I actually see the show. So it happened - I watched the whole Adventure:. And it's really not something I would like to see. Both, because it profanes the amazing Digimon Adventure and because it's just bad. As I said, I had Digimon series that I didn't quite like, but I seen good sides that didn't made it that bad and I quite enjoyed them. But I can't enjoy cheap story with no character development and no plot whatsoever. But let's explain things a bit...
I didn't really expect it to be something extraordinary, but the show has many serious issues. Pace was totally destroyed, the strongest character just appeared in 3rd episode and there was really big threat to the whole Earth by that time. Imagine 67 episodes long show, where 3rd episode has already escalated to some titan fight level. This is what happened there. Meanwhile in original show, in third episode kids were lost in who knows where and they didn't know what to do. They desperately tried to contact their homes but they just didn't know what happened. In reboot... one character just had all the informations at hand. Literally - in smartphone. He could just "google" the answer, or rather chat with no-names about what's going on. Like... Internauts. Yes, he was informed by random people from Internet. It's not end of the problems. While original adventure set the plot around finding what they had to do and why they are here, here, in reboot they had all the answers on silver plate. The show failed to provide real threat and story whatsoever. Compare it to original, where kids had real life issues, that were linked to their special traits and the bond with their digimon partners were the key. And while I am saying the problems were real, it were real. It was about their own past, life, relationship with family and digimons, as well as them evolving, changing into better themselves. This didn't happen at all in reboot. Actually they just removed any personality issues completely. And while some of the character did have similar traits like not being to confident or being too selfish, it didn't provide the problem to their story progress. Plot in original Digimon Adventure really was orbiting around the kids. Everything they did was to understand why they have those traits assigned to them and how to find it. Not everyone was happy with their traits too. And the human-digimon bond was deeper with more relationship issues, that also originated with their traits and their real life problems. All was about the kids, the change, personalities. It just wasn't there for the reboot. Like they had some simple traits, but it didn't provide any story-related things. For example, relationship between them in original was not always perfect. Sometimes it was negative. Sometimes they mocked each other, sometimes they didn't trust them... but sometimes they were loyal to the end. Their bond wasn't just made in an instant. It was changing and finally they established big friendship and love. This was something I didn't see in the rebooted version of the show.
Plot in the Adventure: is just not there. They had learned about the threat and that they have to defeat it, because it's bad, but... that's it. They just fight with random monsters, defeat them, then at the end they fight big boss, struggle, but "miracle moment" happens and they defeat it. But there was nothing more than that. Okay, there were some moments that You can say were good. But basically story itself was... just poor. I missed the threat of main villains. They weren't just bad guys that do bad stuff with bad power. In original it was about what they did and how they did that, not how powerful or "evil" they were. In original show You could feel the threat. They were constantly attacked and threatened to death. Big bad guys weren't just there to appear at the end of the show. They were very active villains that were attacking kids directly or sometimes via minions. But all of it was their doing, not just random enemy attacking. While in the reboot... they got the prophecy about bad guy that appeared almost at the end. Before that there was another bad guy, that was a bit deeper in personality. And there was a third one that appeared at the very end, unannounced before. Their motives were just "I am evil, so I evil", meanwhile in original show they did all those things for different reasons. It's like comparing an evil guy that likes to see people suffer with a guy that just destroys everything, because he is a destroyer. Nothing else is needed. I really couldn't feel a threat from those villains in 2020 version, because they were just bigger, stronger variants of any other digimon. And if we are here... all the other enemies were just random digimons that appeared. They weren't directly minions or anything like that. They were just attacked by wild digimons.
So, we know there is no story, no threat and no character development. Is it that bad? Umm... no. It's 4/10 afterall, there are some elements that were better. Specifically visual style. I hate when reboot, remake or something changes original style, like I hate it with Shaman King for example, that also rebooted the old anime (or rather made new that is more faithful to manga). But Digimon Adventure: nailed it perfectly. The shows looks like the old anime, literally. If I didn't know better, I could have seen a random screenshot of the reboot and think it's from old anime. But also they improved things, like the effects and the evolution sequences. They also had really good ideas... just the poor plot made the execution of those ideas bad. It also had some good moments that were done properly. Although it's like one flower in the pile of crap. Also the other good things is that they give all of them highest evolution...... but it didn't really matter, as there was one guy that appeared every time, stealing the spotlight, so even if the character did cool stuff, him appearing "coincidentally" was annoying and ruined the moment. Plus those high evolution forms appeared once, so it wasn't really much. The other good thing was side evolution. I am not really a fan of side evos in Digimon, but they nailed it nicely... but that idea was too not really well executed. Two of the forms were used once, other forms were used instead of base forms, instead of making them change those forms while needed. For example, if they need form A, they use it, because form B is ineffective. It wasn't done like that.
Did I enjoy the show? A bit. But more I was annoyed by the fact that those things that were done so greatly in original, was completely screwed there. At the end few decent stuff couldn't cover everything they failed to do. And most of things, even those positive, had bad sides anyway... I really hoped for at least anime that I wouldn't like, but will be decent. Instead I got a failed product that were written poorly by someone, who didn't thought it through.
Overall I give it a 4. That much, because there was some good things there. Without them it would be solid 1.
PS Sorry for a bit of chaos, I just wanted to tell about few things, but the topic is so wide and it's hard to not spoil anything, especially comparing things with original series. Thanks for Your understanding.
