I'd have to agree that Gurren Lagann isn't as good as Death Note, but I still found it pretty awesome; I know a lot of people who thought it was meh/bad...
As for FMA it got really good towards the end, but it sort of ended on a cliffhanger so I need to watch the film which comes after. For a while I did get bored of it because it was dragging, but I pushed on and it did turn out as a really good series, 9/10.
Gurren Lagann is a Marmite anime. You love it or hate it. I know a good few people who love it, I personally think it's awesome but some people think it's overrated and a bit lame.
Overall not as good as Death Note but still worth a watch.
On another note I need to rewatch Code Geass 1 because I can't remember anything that happened :P But first I've got to finish FMA which is getting boring... :P
You started watching Nodame, cool. I really like that series, now I'm waiting on the 3rd series to continue it :D The only thing i didn't like was that in the second series they started barely playing the music whereas in the first one they play the entire pieces which is nicer.
I heard about the GTO spinoff, but isn't it just a manga? I find they're an effort to read unless you have them on paper... I just don't like reading stuff online.
I like FMA mainly because it's deeper than your average shounen, even if that does mean depressing sections.
I got bored of Naruto after about the first 15 eps, but kept watching to wherever just to see if it got good again, and it never did... :P I just don't like the series i guess.
xD... Well Bleach is definitely very good for the first 60 or so episodes.
As for Ouran... :P I agree about the girly intro... that nearly put me entirely off watching it, but I'm glad I did. Persevere with one episode, then you can put it down if you don't like it, not just based on the OP...
Oh yeah and I'm watching FMA too but just slower than you... you appear to have nearly caught up with me. :P
I still haven't seen the film, it's on my hard drive, but I'm one of the many who thought the series was really good, however it did get a bit meh in the middle when it wanted to focus more on comedy. I thought you were supposed to see the series first because it introduced the characters.... Meh I need to get round to watching that.
I've seen Ouran and while I'd say that while it can be a bit girly at times (I got my sister into it and it's her favourite now) , it's still hilarious all the time and is worth seeing. The characters and situations are just genius and I seriously hope they make a new series.
As for Slam Dunk... I haven't seen any sports anime, but I hear that the only one worth watching if you're not into sport is Hajime no Ippo, which is about boxing.

Have you tried the other long running shounen series like Bleach seeing as you liked Naruto? I'd recommend that until the filler
