...then you might like Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Episode 1: Legend of the Golden Witch add

While Fullmetal Alchemist and Umineko have different narrative focuses (FMA being more like an action-adventure story; and Umineko being a murder mystery story, at least in Episode 1 anyway), they still have pretty similar aspects. Often sharing similar symbolism, concepts, characters, and even the themes portrayed. Both are also considerably darker and more complex than most shonen manga out there (With most episodes of Umineko being published by Square Enix's Gangan Comics, who also published FMA). And also, both are overall really good stories that everyone should check out!

If you liked Shinseiki Evangelion add

...then you might like Haibane Renmei add

For me, Eva and Haibane are the best psychological anime out there. Both deal with similar themes like loss, guilt and self-acceptance. Both series also share kinda similar characters. The main difference is that, while Eva is a mecha anime (And thus, is more action focused), Haibane is for all intents and purposes a slice of life anime.

Both are anime full of action and epic scenes, while at the same time dealing with philosophical themes. Both series also share similar symbolism and characters.
