I didn't like it because it was over-the-top fanservice with extreme ecchi and also bland characters. But that's not the only reason... The biggest reason is Shiro. She is eleven, she is the main characters sister, and she is sexualised and is part of Sora's harem.
So with this... The series not only commits incest but also pedophilia (which is called loli in anime but that doesn't make it any better). Basically that :)

You said you want recomendations, right? I recomend you Death Note or Steins;Gate. Although the first I don't Like very much, it's very thrilling and entertaining. Steins;Gate is just a masterpiece, it has time travels and misterys you won't be capable of resolve until they're revelead. They're both great, although in Death Note, don't get your hopes high after episode 25. From there... All kind of sucks
If you continue to watch anime, you'll develop a thing called "anime brain" which will allow you to store tons of pointless information and trivia about the anime world, and will be able to remember even the smallest character of the least popular anime. This is how life works, I should know, I lived it.
