Akame ga Kill!, literally meaning "The Red Eyed Killer" is based on a manga with the same name. It gets quite the hate, but also the same amount of praise. Does it deserve any of both?
Story - 6/10
The story starts with Tatsumi, a young boy from the country who travels to the Empire's Capital in hope of making it big.
But this is an anime, of course things don't go easy.
The catch is, the Empire is now ruled by a young boy. That boy is controlled by the Prime Minister from behind the scenes who doesn't really give a DAMN about his people. Thus making everything

in the Capital, or the Empire in general, horribly hard in every way.
After being robbed by a pretty lady and got into a life threatening experience, Tatsumi finds himself joining the assassin group "Night Raid" who mercilessly kill the people responsible for the Empire's condition in hope of making it better.
That sounds pretty generic by itself, but the story has quite enough twists and turns to make it interesting.
Now the problems!
The story's flaws rests in 2 particular parts, the Opening arc, and the Ending arc. The Opening arc is flawed because it's slow and it sticks to the source material a bit TOO much.
The Ending, as you may have heard, is an anime-original ending. While it is pretty satisfying, it feels a bit too rushed and forced.
The series also has this weird problem in its tone. It switches from dark and gritty, to wacky comedy, that's to be honest not too funny anyway, rather quickly. So before you even processed a Character's death, everyone seems to already moved on in life and made bad jokes.
Art - 7/10
The art on this anime is actually quite good.
The character designs are solid, and the scenery looks pretty beautiful.
The animation is also one of its strong points. With every character having different fighting styles, smooth battle scenes, and pretty satisfying slash n' gore.
Sound - 7/10
Its music tracks are also really good. Nothing too spectacular, but nothing too horribly horrible too.
Character - 6/10
Despite everything on the posters and promotional arts, Akame is not the main character.
Instead, our MC is Tatsumi. A generic, bland and boring Shonen hero, who does what generic, bland and boring Shonen hero do. He starts of as a naive young man, and by the end of the series he's pretty much a professional assassin.
Akame, our title character who doesn't get much screentime, she starts of interesting with her conflict with her sister. But since she rarely appears, her plot points felt weak, and after her conflict is settled, she pretty much became a generic, bland and boring Shonen heroine.
The rest of the Night Raid crew are pretty likeable in general, with Mine the Tsundere, Leon the sexy lady, Lubbock the pervert, Bulat the sexy guy, Chelsea the playful one, Susanoo the BEST EVER, and Boss. Oh... The Boss... Who's boring as shit.
Our "supposed" villain group, The Jaegers, are actually quite more likeable than our heroes.
They're led by Esdeath, the most sadistic sadist to ever sadistically do sadistic things. And since she has Death in her name, you know she's evil.
Wave is Tatsumi Army ver., Kurome is Akame's psychotic lil' sis, Seryuu the Dere-less Yandere, Run who doesn't really do anything, Dr. Stylist who is stylish as shit, and Bols the BEST EVER.
They have problems here and there, but in the end what made most people watch AgK is the cast.
And also because you don't know who's gonna die next episode huehuehuehue...
Overall - 7/10
In the end, Agk is an "Okay" series. It doesn't do fantastic things, but it also doesn't ruin the source material. It has a very specific audience in mind, and it reaches to those audience quite well, and reaches to other audience not as much.
If gory action with not-so-great stories are your thing, then you should definitely watch it.

It was all the hype back then. The Jump romance series is getting an anime! By SHAFT nonetheless!
With people jumping right and left, did it live up to its hype?
Story - 6/10
The story revolves around Ichijou Raku. The heir to some kind of Yakuza family. One day, on his way to school, he was kneed-to-the-face by a transfer student Kirisaki Chitoge, who later is revealed to be a gangster family's daughter. After a few things happened, he and Chitoge must fake being lovers to stop a turf war.
And the other side of the plot involves Raku's promise with a girl from his childhood, a pendant,
...
and a few keys.
So it's a usual "two-people-must-fake-being-something-they're-not" kind of story. It appears to be pretty boring at first, but there's something about it that comes out as... refreshing somehow.
I don't know why, it's just... maybe it has something to do with the art style, but the way that the story is told is just so... I don't know.
Unlike the ever-dragging manga, since the anime is just parts of it, the pacing felt like a normal Romance Comedy series.
With the usual stuff. You know, hot springs, homestay, beach, and others.
P.S. Nisekoi is the anime with the most monologue I've ever watched. like, seriously.
Art - 8/10
The art style of Nisekoi is somewhat colorful. Like really, most of the color for the backgrounds consists of patterns. Only the characters look normal to the eye.
That's what gives this anime the feeling of fluffiness. The cuteness goddamnit.
Sound - 7/10
Music-wise, Nisekoi is on the average side. The music is mostly soft and light, befitting of the series' personality.
Character - 6/10
To be honest, Nisekoi's characters are nothing too unique or new. They all have their archetype. But they live up to it wonderfully, with just enough knicks and knacks to make themselves different.
Raku is a Harem protagonist. Therefore, he will be nice and caring. He's a bit clueless, but not that much. He also have something that most protagonists lack, self-awareness! Even if just a bit.
Chitoge is the main heroine. So she takes the Tsundere card. What's a bit different about her is that as the series progresses, she's mostly Dere and less Tsun. Meaning, she's more in-touch with her feelings than most Tsunderes
Onodera is the generally shy one. She doesn't have much backstory or anything, but she's my personal favorite. SO MUCH GODDAMN KAWAII!!!
Tsugumi, by herself is quite the Tsundere, actually. She appears to be a guy at first, but as we all know, if there's a new guy in a harem, it's most likely a trap. As such, she's the reverse-trap.
Marika, is actually quite interesting. You would think that she's the princess, but after a few events, her character is quite unique.
Also, if you're wondering who's the childhood friend character is, fear not! For everyone is basically a childhood friend in a sense.
So overall, Nisekoi characters are quite dry, but they still have some juice to make it more interesting.
Overall - 7/10
Nisekoi isn't terribly deep, and it's not pretending to be deep. It's a light-hearted show that focuses mostly on the character interactions.
If you want a fluffy Romance Comedy series with an open-ended finale, this might just be perfect for you.
If you want a deep series with a real plot progression, you might have to look elsewhere.

Gokukoku no Br... umm...
GnB, is an adaptation of a manga series with the same name. The premise sounds generic, but the execution is below that.
It's a mix of Dark drama and Harem. And Sci-Fi. And Fantasy. Also don't forget the Comedy.
To be honest, it's a mess
Story - 6/10

The story revolves around Murakami Ryouta. When he was a kid, he befriended a girl he call Kuroneko. She said that she had met aliens. But before she can prove that, she got involved in an accident and died.
Presumably...
Years later, he met a girl that looks exactly like her, but her name is Kuroha Neko. After a few misunderstandings, he helps her and her friends who are being chased by an evil organization that has something to do with aliens and artificial magic.
If that doesn't sound generic, then you probably have some unique taste.
Firstly, this anime has bad pacing. Particularly near the end. So many things are happening after another I completely lost track of what's going on.
Secondly, bad plot. Mostly the plot points. Generic is one thing, but this plot just throws sense out of the window. One moment they're talking about something that's supposedly important, the next minute everybody forgets it.
So overall, sucky plot.
Art - 6/10
The graphic isn't special. It has it flaws, but mostly good.
Sound - 7/10
Now this I can actually like. Especially the OP, it doesn't have any lyrics, but it captures that gritty feeling just right.
Character - 5/10
They're basic character archetypes. what more can I say?
Murakami wants to protect the girls. Neko wants to protect everyone. Kana has a sharp tounge. Kazumi tries to be perverted. And Kotori is the gentle soul.
Overall - 6/10
This anime is really lackluster. It tries to do too much on such a short time.
Oh, and the ending contains no sense at all. It left many, MANY unanswered questions.
Like, "What the hell is this?!" "What the hell is that?!" "Who the hell is she?!" "What the hell just happened?!" "Why the hell did that happen?!"
This anime's ending is basically saying "READ THE MANGAS, FOOLS!!"
If you like the manga though, you might enjoy watching this, because you'll know what the hell is going on. Unlike the rest of us.

Story - 3/10
The "Story", starts as Kirito got called by Kikuoka, some kind of Government guy in VR division. He asked Kirito to describe what happens inside SAO in detail.
Meanwhile, Asuna and the rest went to the pool to teach Suguha how to swim. And tell each other how they met Kirito.
Also, swimsuits galore.
That's basically what this OVA is, an 100 minute recap with some new story for the last 20 minutes or so?
The last part is about them trying to find a whale so Yui can see it. It's kinda cute.
Well, they didn't lie when they say Extra Edition. Because it's EXTRA boring.
I was originally gonna give this a 2/10, but since there's the last 20 minutes, I'll let it pass this time.
Art - 7/10
The same art style from the TV show. Nothing new, still sharp and colorful.
Sound - 6/10
This OVA has the exact same OP and insert songs as the TV show. Only a few new ones. Nothing much to comment.
Character - 3/10
The characters are also the same. But here, no development happened, just some flash backs.
So they're less interesting than usual.
Overall - 5/10
As they say, this is Extra Edition. Nothing too much to note. If you like your recaps, then watch it.
If you like swimsuits, well watch it. We have not one, but two swimming scenes. One at the pool, and one in-game at the beach.
But if you already know everything about SAO, you'll be wasting you're time.

You know what a mediocre Harem story needs? A sequel that's not mediocre at all, but bad! Like, really bad
That's the case with Infinite Stratos 2. Somehow, that last season was enough to warrant a sequel despite its awfulness.
The good thing is, it builds itself on top of its predecessor. The bad thing is, it builds itself on top of its predecessor.
I'm gonna review this based on the assumption that you people who're reading this have seen the first season. If you live through that, than you just might live through this.
Story - 3/10
With the same setting as the previous season, the story didn't really

change much.
This time around, they tried to incorporate more Action. They even have an evil group now! But alas, it was all for naught. Because the evil group didn't really do other things aside from being, well, evil.
That's all that happened really. Bad guys does bad things, then was stopped by the students with personal IS.
But the amount of action is still overshadowed by the FANSERVICE!!!
Really, every episode is some kind of Boob Showroom. It's really annoying
Art - 7/10
Same thing with the previous season too. The new ISes' designs are rather awesome.

The characters are so goddamn boring!
Especially Ichika! I know that guy is supposed to be clueless. But the level of his cluelessness this season is so annoying it almost killed me!

The girls didn't really change much.
Although there are two new members to the harem.
They're sisters, Tatenashi and Kanzashi.
Tatenashi, the older one, is the Student Council President and acts like a bigger sister. A perverted one at that. And even though there's literally no reason for her to fall in love with Ichika, she fell for it anyway
Kanzashi, the younger one, hates Ichika at first due to some things. But since he's so nice, she fell for him too.
Because a guy who can accidentaly grab boobs every episode is a nice guy everyone loves.
The enemy characters are mostly boring, except for one, whose name i'm not gonna say. But even then, she didn't even get deve... screw development! They didn't even EXPLAIN, why she's like that. Even by the end of the season, we know nothing about this girl!
So Character-wise, IS2 was a flop
Overall - 4/10
This thing must be crazy popular in Japan, because aside from... well... i can't really think of any good things to set aside.
I don't think this thing is worth to watch, if you like School Life Mecha that much, you can always watch Valvrave.

Infinite Stratos is based on a Light Novel series with a same name. It tried to hook in viewers by its promising premise.Which in the end, it delivers. Kinda.
Story - 6/10
The plot revolves around a robot-suit-weapon thingy they call Infinite Stratos, or just IS. The catch is, only women can pilot them. Which resulted a change of gender roles in society.
The story starts with Orimura Ichika, a boy who somehow can make an IS move. He was then forced to transfer into IS Academy, the place where they train future IS pilots.
Because of the previous catch, all of his schoolmates are girls. So yeah. You

know where this is going.
If you come to watch this in hope for some kind of Action-packed Mecha story with School Life thrown in the middle, thus creating a balanced story,... you're wrong. Dead wrong.
Most of the things that happens onscreen are pure Harem material. Bad Harem materials too, at that. When there is some Mecha action, it's usually just a student tournament or some unexplained anonymous hostile robot that went haywire.
Also the fanservice. It's so much, it annoys me.
Oh, and they also tried their hands on the comedy aspect. It didn't go well
And the Finale still have some unanswered questions. Which I'm not gonna list because it'll be a bit spoiler-y
Overall, it could have been better
Art - 7/10
There's nothing much to comment on the art style. Not too shabby, but not too fancy too.
But what catches the eyes most are the ISes' 3D models, which are well done. They fit into the background without looking out of place.
The battle scenes a quite good too. There are a few recycled scenes, but they never really bugged me.
Sound - 6/10
The sound is on the average side. Nothing much to note.
Character - 4/10
This is one of the flaws of this series. THEM CHARACTERS!!
Ichika is your official, by the book, clueless nice Harem protagonist. What's out of the book about him, is his level of by-the-book-ness.
Seriously, this guy is so bland and clueless, it almost hurts. He somehow doesn't notice that the girls like him.
Even though one of them kissed him the other day and was on bed with him, (nothing R-rated though) he was still acting without any kind of self-awareness, to the point where i was like "is he gay or something?"
But really, if he was gay, they might as well as change the whole cast into guys and it would make much more watchable series.
And now the girls...
Houki is the childhood friend. And a typical Tsundere. Nothing much to say about her.
Cecilia is the Princess-type. She's initially annoyed by Ichika, but grew to like him quickly. Nothing much too.
"Oh you know what's better than a childhood friend?! TWO childhood friends!" That's probably what the author was thinking
Then there's Ling or Rin, i don't know, the sub differs form episode to another. She's this second childhood friend, also a bit Tsundere. But she is mostly overshadowed by Houki, because she appeared first.
Then there's Charlotte. She attended the Academy as a guy. Which was of course, found out immediately by Ichika. So she's the Reverse-Trap
And finally, Laura. She's actually interesting. But as time goes, she turned into a bland character.
Most of the supporting characters are really forgettable. Like the glasses teacher with big boobs, i forgot her name. And Chifuyu, Ichika's older sister.
Overall - 6/10
Infinite Stratos is a generic School Life Harem story masked with the face of Action premise. Whether you love or hate this, depends on your initial hope when you started watching
If you didn't expect much, you'll probably be satisfied
But if you're one of those poor souls, like me, who expects many action, you'll be thoroughly dissapointed

No Game No Life was definitely one of the better, if not THE best anime of Spring 2014. The premise sounds pretty generic at first, but you would be lying if you say you didn't enjoy yourself watching this awesome anime.
Story - 8/10
NGNL follows the story of Sora and Shiro, NEET siblings who are known as Blank, the undefeatable gamer that conquer every game they played. Until they are magically transported by Tet, a God, to another dimension called the Disboard, where every conflict is decided by games.

So it's not like a usual where the question is "Will they win?" it's more like, "HOW, will they win?", because really, the methods that they use to win are really unorthodox. And sometimes unrealistic.
So in the end, the story stands out despite its generic-ness

Now this is a mixed territory. Some might like the art-style, but some might just hate it completely.
But I for one, really like this kind of art. I mean, sure it's overly colorful at times, but that's what add so much uniqueness to this anime.
Aside from that, the character designs are well done.
Sound - 8/10
The OP is one of my favorite songs from this season. It fits the NGNL's mood flawlessly.
The insert songs are well done too. They complement the mood rather well.
Character - 8/10
Now let's be honest, these types of characters have already been done before. But it doesn't stopped them from being so awesome.
Sora is the typical "Cocky Ass-Head but Actually Nice" kind of protagonist. What's different about him is that his cockiness is a bit understandable, considering he always wins.
Shiro is your "Loli Little Sister". Really that's it. Given that she's a little sister, she'll love her brother very much.
But the interactions between them can be a bit... disturbing sometimes.
Overall - 9/10
NGNL has its flaws. But the things that it done well actually covers them up. Some might say that this show is just a stupid premise combined with boring characters and epilepsy-inducing art style.
But hey, why can't a stupid, boring, epilepsy-inducing show be enjoyable?

Black Bullet is an anime adaptation of a light novel with the same name. People often call this series as a rip-off of Attack on Titan, due to the similar premise.
Story - 5/10
The story takes place in a post-apocalypse Tokyo. Where giant bugs-robot-thingies called Gastraea. So our Protagonists must protect Tokyo from the Gastraea threat with the help of LOLIS!!!!
First off, for a "Post-Apocalypse" world, Tokyo doesn't feel post-apocalyptic enough. People are still happily living in a clean environment with a working economy. It could be better if it actually shows us the effect of the past Gastraea Wars.
Second off, the pacing. Overly rushed,

is an understatement. It's poorly done. One minute we're having a fanservice moment, and the next minute a Genocide occurred. I know this is based on a Light Novel, but a fast pacing can be acceptable if done well.
Third off, the mood. They basically threw it out of the window. Black bullet tries too hard to be dark. But the loli moments and gritty moments basically cancel each other out. It switches from a comedic to dark in less then a minute. Therefore, it's a complete mess.
So overall, the story is mediocre at best.
Art - 7/10
The art is done well enough to keep you entertained. The Gastraea's 3D models are really well done. It fits to the scene nicely.
Although some battle scenes are really rushed, the art is one of this series' best aspects.
Sound - 7/10
The soundtrack is great. The songs fit into the scene's mood perfectly. Whether the mood is comedic or dark. But as I said before, since the mood was a complete throw-off, the songs aren't really memorable.
Character - 3/10
This is where it starts going down hill. Like, really down. Most of the characters felt bland and empty. But when there's an interesting character, they either don't get much development and screen time, or just killed instantly.
Rentaro, the main protagonist, is just a usual "I-want-to-protect-everybody"-kind of guy. Which, by the way, can be found in most shonen materials. Whether it's anime or manga. Nothing is really different about him.
But the rest of the crew is just bland. Enju is too annoying, and Kisara is a typical Tsundere (Even though she changed at the very last episode, it didn't do much for her character.) Tina is the most interesting one, but even then, she didn't get the character development she deserved.
But what really killed this for me is that this series has a bad, BAD, set of antagonists. You have the Kisara's grandpa person, which was revealed to be evil AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE. Then you have the Osaka-president guy, who is just your plain "Rule-the-world" bad guy. We have Kisara's older brother, which just appeared and was revealed to be evil AT THE VERY LAST GODDAMN MINUTE.
And the most annoying antagonist I've ever known, the Bodyguard guy. (Nobody remember his name anyway) His motivation to be evil and hate Rentaro is just... UGH!!!
Kagetane and his daughter, Kohina, is the only redeeming ones. But then again, as I said before, Didn't get enough development.
Overall - 6/10
This anime tried to mark itself as a Dark Action Seinen with a dash of Loliness. Which at the end failed to do. Miserably.
But if you can get past the weak setting, and bland characters, you might just enjoy this anime for what it is. A mess of Gritty and Loli-y moments slapped together.
