Based on your Megalobox review, I highly recommend Ashita no Joe. Basically everything in Megalobox - from visuals, to characters, and to a lesser extent story - was inspired by it.
Happened to come across your review of Elfen Lied and I completely agree with it, everything you said is how I feel about the show, too: definitely didn't expect to love it as much as I do!
