Chinese Harry Potter season 1 is an anime that lacks the basic fundamentals of a good anime, yet manages to somehow pull through the 12 episodes, without turning into a chore to watch.
First off, it's very clear that the Chinese studio that was working on this adaptation did not put a lot of effort into the making of this anime. I mean, the guy on the cover art doesn't even look anything like the main protagonist. The art is lazy, often looks like a PowerPoint presentation, the sound quality is tragic, often switching volume which makes it hard to understand what is going on in

an action sequence. And let's not forget the comedic parts, where the studio sampled sound effects from Scooby Doo and Tom & Jerry: it was so unfunny, that the icing on the cake would've been if they added the 'audience laughing' track from sitcoms, just to give me a cue on when it's time for me to roll my eyes.
Another point that should be addressed is the voice acting. Obviuosly, it was done in Chinese, which sounds just plain wrong when you first hear it. I had a very hard time watching the 1st episode because the unusual Chinese language made me lose my focus, which made me think - even though we don't understand Japanese either, it's easier to watch because we're used to it that much, that it feels as if we understand it, when really we don't. Also, to note, I later got used to the Chinese voices. Besides this, the voice acting itself was horrible, often making it confusing to understand what emotion a character is trying to show.
Now, besides pretty much everything about this show being terrible for an anime that was released in 2016, I didn't find it difficult to finish all the episodes in one day. Why? Very simple. The short length of the episodes, and the straightforwardness of the plot made it very easy to binge this series. Yet I'm sure this wasn't intentional by the studio when they were making it.
If you have some free time, nothing to watch, and just want to relax for a bit, this anime is okay for that. Yet if you're looking for a deep plot, good pacing, and animation, stay away from this one.
