Is this really the worst anime of all times, according to MAL?
I took my time to watch this 19 minute OVA for the sake of curiosity of understanding why this anime is on the bottom of the bottom of the ranking of MyAnimeList. To try to understand why is it the only anime with a score below than 2.0, even worse than Abunai Sisters (something that gives me eye cancer just by looking at the characters). It turns out that it's not as terrible as I was expecting.
Is the anime bad? Yes it is. Is it the worst thing that ever existed? Nah, far from
...
it.
First of all, you have to mind that this OVA is based on a PS2 game, something created especifically for the fans of the game. You can't really expect it to develop a well structured plot, even because you don't have enough time to do something like that in 19 minutes. So without knowing the context of the story of the game, you can't really take the anime too seriously on that regard.
The art is okay considering this was released in 2004, though I have to say the 2D animation is very low budget. The thing that is dreadful, however, is the 3D animation of the show. Be it the mechas or the giant alien squid, there's no action, no motion at all. It feels odd and out of the place, and I believe those CGI graphics are bad even for 2004 standards. It's so terrible, even the dramatic parts of the OVA felt comic from just how bad the CGI was animated.
The characters are okay, neither good or bad. The only one that stands out is the girl that said she loved the guy, it was a somewhat beautiful scene.
All in all, I found this anime unecessarely underated. If the score was fair, I believe this OVA would be rated around 5.5 in MAL. I don't see a feasible reason for it to get a score that low, like if it was hated by everyone.
From my perspective, this is just a very low budget mecha OVA from a PS2 game. It's not something you should take too seriously in the first place. It's just a fanservice bonus for the players of the game of that time.
I even dare to say that, if this had more production budget than it had, given a proper 12 episode story to work it, it could turn out to be something decent. But it's not what happened. The budget is low, and so is the quality. That's just how it is.
From all that being said, I DO recomend watching it if you're bored with nothing to do. It's just 19 minutes after all. You can easily find it subbed on YouTube and take your own conclusions. My conclusion was that this is NOT the worst anime of all times.

Little to no plot, only a bunch of "kill goblins" missions. The story doesn't go anywhere, and if it goes, its because I got so uninterested that I even didn't noticed it.
The ellf, the dwarf and the lizard are fun, but the main characters (the healer and GS) are blend af. The other secundary characters are pretty boring too.
The art have good details, but it's not that well animated. Not terrible, but not great either. The sound doesn't make me excited at all. By the way, the opening is bad and the ending is mediocre.
The only enjoyment I had with this was watching the
...
party fighting the globins, but it got so repetitive that I decided to just drop it. Overall 4/10.

I don't mind about having a continuation of Dragon Ball, even though the show was supposed to end a good while ago. In fact, I wanted this, a sequel of what is likely the most famous anime in the world. So I got excited back in 2015 when they've announced Dragon Ball Super.
But if it is to have a sequel, then let it be better than what is being continued. Especially if twenty years have passed since the last show. That time is more than enough for the author to have thought of the most elaborate and exciting story of all times, which would justify
...
the "waiting" for this sequel to be aired.
Super is not a copy of DBZ, where in every saga there's a villain much more powerful than everyone else and that the protagonists need to get stronger, usually depending on a new transformation in order to defeat him. Super is worse than a copy. In 131 episodes and two and a half years of watching that, I never had that sense of danger I had in Z, the feeling that it's impossible to defeat the enemy, no matter what. In fact, those guys didn't even have the guts to kill a character this time. And not to mention they censored all the blood.
Intead of miss watching Dragon Ball Super every sunday, I actually feel relieved since there were times I was watching it forcedly. It ended up being torture, because I always believed in the "now it goes, this time it will be exciting for real", which never really happened. The word 'disappointment' is a euphemism for describing this show.
But okay, not everything has to be so depressing. The Mirai Trunks arc (or Goku Black arc) is decent at the very least. I've found it almost as good as the Cell arc, which for me was the worst of all the arcs of DBZ. But I found it fun nevertheless, as there are some cool concepts in the story about time travel and it has a more serious atmosphere. The villain ends up being the highlight of it.
I also liked some other concepts that Super brought up, such as the Super Shenlong, the super dragon balls themselves, the existence of a Omni-King, among others. The Dragon Ball universe itself is very interesting, and this is one of the few things the author has managed to preserve in this show.
So all in all, is it worth watching? Talking as a DBZ fan, only the Mirai Trunks arc (episodes 47 to 76) is actually worth it, mainly because it's already dubbed in most countries. The tournament arcs are too predictable and childish, so they are dispensable. And instead of wasting time watching the first 2 arcs of the show, is much better to just go for the movies 'Battle of the Gods' and 'Resurrection of F', as they're only 1h30 long each and you will hardly find it a waste of time. At least, they should be enough to kill the boredom. From then, you can just go to the Mirai Trunk arc and after that just wait for the new DB movie that will come out in december, that I believe it'll be decent at least.
