Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de is a comedy about a forbidden love between a super hero e a super villain. How can this be?
There's one faction called Gekko that fights for World Domination. Desumi belongs to this faction but there's nothing evil about her. In fact, she's sweet, kind and funny! So why did she join? It's explained throughout the series and I won't spoil it! Any ways, to keep this evil organization in check, there are Power Rangers! Oh sorry. I got mixed up. I mean to say Gelato 5! The leader is Fudo, a naive but kindhearted soul. Desumi and Fudo
...
fall in love with each other in the middle of their battle and so it begins their secret love story! How can a super villain keep her job if her love for a super-hero is discovered?! How can a super-hero keep his job if his love for a super villain is discovered?!
Now that I've explained the setting, is this worth watching? YES!
Visuals:
1) good but inconsistent animation
2) I really like the character design, although Desumi's is by far the more detailed
Sound:
1) really great voice acting
2) good soundtrack
Story and characters:
1) the anime starts off promising, the 2nd episode was my favourite and then some episodes were great, others just okay.
2) the comedy in this is great, I didn't find it repetitive or predictable
3) Fudo and Desumi's relationship feels very genuine. They share plenty of heartfelt moments that make you feel like you're witnessing what a real relationship should be like: unconditional love and mutual respect. Desumi and Fudo are truly a power couple.
I hope there's a season 2!

The premise sounded interesting and different enough for me to watch it but it was a let down. Every episode felt pretty much the same and it failed to deliver the loving-sweet-family bond between the characters like Lovely Drop managed to do back when it aired. It also failed to deliver the cute comedy that Kobayashi's no Maid-Dragon has been doing for a while.
When a show is this much repetitive, I can't help but feel that short 5 minute episodes would be much more enjoyable than the boring 24 minute weekly dump of chibi characters doing the same type of episode week after week.
I
...
didn't enjoy this more than a 4/10.

Dance Dance Danseur is a great example of how animation and voice acting should be done but also how a terrible ending can really affect the overall enjoyment of a show.
Visuals:
1) the character design has a very unique style and although I hate their eyes, by the end of the anime it didn't bother me much anymore
2) the dancing scenes (which are often!) are so beautifully made. I know nothing of ballet so I can't honestly and seriously say that the characters are dancing realistically but that's genuinely what it looked like to me. Absolutely gorgeous!
3) The visual effects are also top
...
notch
4) Unfortunately there are a few noticeable visual inconsistencies
Sound:
1) the voice acting is superb; every seiyuu performed their lines perfectly
2) the soundtrack is a perfect match throughout the 11 episodes
Story and characters:
1) it begins with Junpei, a boy struggling with society's expectations regarding gender roles. Ballet is feminine and real men aren't feminine! This right here made me watch the anime. I'm a reverse Junpei. In was born in the 1990's and I felt a lot of pressure for almost 2 decades to become girly and match up with stupid gender expectations. Junpei's journey about self-acceptance and fully embracing and chasing his dream was very enjoyable to watch.
2) The last 2 episodes were absolute trash. Up to that point I was convinced this show would be a 8/10 for me. Then the ending happened and I can't give this more than a 7. I'M GONNA EXPLAIN WHY THE ENDING SUCKED SO BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!!!!! Somehow 2 characters that were so into each other get together and break up in 2 days because a toxic brat is entitled to the girl because they are childhood friends? Absolutely disgusting.
My recommendation would be to watch this anime and on the last 2 episodes to skip the toxic brat's parts. It's a 7/10 for that reason alone.

City Hunter is considered a classic from the 80's but in my opinion is too overrated. I'll justify my opinion on this review.
Visuals:
1) classic visual style for the 80's; this is a great thing
2) there are several animation mistakes that are capable of breaking immersion
3) most male characters are copy paste, design-wise
Sound:
1) every single seiyuu is a legend in the japanese voice acting industry. The big majority of them had already worked together in many other titles like Lupin III, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, ... The chemistry between the seiyuus is very noticeable and their
...
performances are incredibly solid. Despite this, Ryo is still an insuferable character. I'll explain why later.
2) The soundtrack is also very 80's and again this is a good thing, in my opinion. However, the 2nd OP is way worse than the 1st OP
Story and characters:
1) I really enjoyed the 1st episode. City Hunter made one heck of an impression on me. However, I did not enjoy any other episode afterwards. 1 enjoyable episode out of 51... yikes.
2) One of the big reasons why this was a chore to watch, has to do with the repetitiveness, predictability and pretty much copy and paste of previous episodes. Ryo goes mokkori (which is the sound effect for a boner, btw) mode for a woman that needs his help, Ryo sexually harasses and assaults the woman, stuff happens and Ryo finishes the job, woman falls in love with Ryo. This is City Hunter in a nutshell. Each episode is the materialization of a dumbass male fantasy where the more of a douchebag you are, the more girls you'll get.
3) sexual harassment was not, is not and will never be funny
4) Ryo is the main character and he is impossible to tolerate. He's a clear failed attempt at creating another lecherous, cool but kind hearted man like Lupin III. Lupin III has charisma, goes through character development and has charisma. Ryo from the 1st episode is the same exact annoying waste of space from episode 51. The only good thing about him is his voice actor.
5) Whenver the anime tries to be all serious and dramatic, it fails so hard at it. Everything gets rushed, not enough "content" to be emotional over, no sense of danger, ... terrible, awful writting. As an example and without spoiling things, I'll mention episode 5. There's a character that we would consider important that will leave the story. We're meant to feel shock and sadness. Instead, we feel confusion because they way it's handled feels like nothing more than a poor excuse to replace that character with another because Ryo needs a bigger female presence in his life. Unfortunately episode 5 isn't the only case of rubbish writting in City Hunter.
6) There's plenty of references throughout the episodes about other animes (Urusei Yatsura, Lupin III, etc), hollywood (Jaws, Arnold Schwarzenegger), literature (Jekyll and Hyde), etc.
Unfortunately for me, City Hunter was horrible to watch. Too repetitive, an annoying main character, uninteresting plot, ... as good as the old school visuals and soundtrack are and the phenomenal job that the seiyuus did, I didn't enjoy this at all.
It gets a 3/10 from me.

Meitantei Conan: Zero no Tea Time is a series of 6 short episodes (13 minutes each) about Amuro/Zero's life when Conan//Shinichi isn't involved.
The visuals are a bit inconsistent and the soundtrack is very similar to the main series'. The voice acting is pretty solid.
There isn't a plot to this short series. Take this as "fanservice" for the fans of Amuro/Zero.
If you really enjoy him as a character, you'll enjoy this a lot. If you're like me, meaning that I only enjoy Meitantei Conan because of the story surrounding the black organization, you'll find this pretty boring.
It's a 4/10 for me.

Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru (UraBoku from now on) is a great example of how visuals and sound aren't enough to make a series enjoyable to watch.
Visuals:
1) for a 2010 anime, the animation is very clean although inconsistent at times;
2) it took me a while to ignore how every character has a sharp chin, almost like they could stab someone with it
3) ugliest hands I've ever seen in any anime and I've been watching anime for over 16 years now!
4) unappealing color palette
...
Sound:
1) soundtrack is okay
2) the seiyuus are IMO the biggest selling point this anime has to offer. UraBoku's entire cast is composed by legends of the voice acting industry. People that have hundreds of roles in their careers and that have voiced some of the most popular characters in anime history. Even the minor characters are voiced by voice acting beasts!
Story and characters:
1) Without spoiling, we can say the story is about this never ending war between two sides: a typical good side and a typical bad side. This conflict has been going on for centuries without a proper resolution. They main character Yuki is a boy with a difficult childhood and terrible self-esteem. The other main character is Luka, a man who protects Yuki from the shadows. This is the setting we get after watching the 1st episode. You'd think the next 23 episodes would be enough to develop the past events that explain why this war has lasted centuries, why is Yuka so important in this story, who is Luka and why does he feel so desperate to protect Yuki at all costs, why is everyone else so crazy about Yuki, and so many other questions that get raised as each new character is introduced. I'd guess about 5% of questions are properly answered by the time the credits roll on the final episode.
2) You may think that the point was to bait for a sequel, which in my opinion is never a good approach. This sequel never happened so we're stuck with either reading the manga if we enjoyed the story after watching the whole thing or be upset for wasting time with a rubbish story. The 2nd scenario is much more likely for anybody who ends up giving this anime a chance. The reason exactly why I'll explain further down.
3) The thing I struggled the most with was the pace. I enjoyed the first episode but I only managed to finish this anime by playing each episode afterwards 2x faster. Why? Because everything took ages to happen. Characters had conversations in slow mo. Characters walked in slow mo. Characters thought in slow mo. The only thing that didn't happen in slow mo were the action scenes but those are so rare that it's a shame. This anime should've been 12 episodes long and we wouldn't lose a thing regarding its lore because as I've mentioned before, only 5% of stuff gets revealed/explained. Nothing ever happens usually and the actions scenes, which in my opinion were the only enjoyable scenes, are so rare that it's ridiculous.
4) There's a lot of love vibes between the male characters. This doesn't bother me one bit. It doesn't increase or decrease my enjoyment in a show. What bothers me, however, is the lack of courage from the author/director to make their relationships more realistic. I'm not talking about showing graphic things but at least have the characters acknowledge that there are feelings between them and make them act on them rather than "hinting" and nothing ever happening.
5) I won't spoil the ending but as I've said before, not a single thing gets explained, revealed or resolved. Not only that, but you actually end up with more questions and doubts than in the early episodes. As if this wasn't terrible enough, for many episodes there's this build up regarding a future showdown between the good side and evil side. This showdown never does happen. This is actually the main reason why the ending is so despised by the big majority of people who have watched this anime.
Unless you're a major fan of the seiyuus, stay away from this anime. It's a complete waste of time. It gets a 4/10 from me.

Look, if you enjoy the Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu / Legend of the Galactic Heroes franchise, you're going to enjoy this. It's the continuation of the remake of a beautiful and compelling story.
The voice actors gave solid performances, the animation is fluid and story wise, we get more of what makes this franchise so good to watch. I particularly loved watching the backstory behind some of Reinhard's allies.
So... why a 5? Well... I'm not the average fan of the series. What really gets me hyped is Reinhard and because some episodes don't focus on him or his allies, I get bored. I have a weird Reinhard-fan
...
syndrome.
So, if you love this universe you'll love this series. If you only care about half this universe (like me ahah), you'll enjoy half of it x'D

No spoilers!!! :)
Animation: sometimes pretty, sometimes fluid but always inconsistent and sloppy. I've seen other shows pull off the style they aimed for (like Kill La Kill for example) but they don't even get close to that
Sound:
1) not a fan of the soundtrack
2) often the songs playing don't match the scenes
3) very good casting and performances from the seiyuus
...
Story and characters:
1) the first two episodes got me super intrigued and I can't exactly explain why. However, then the plot totally shifts from what I thought was a pretty cool character (Macha Green) to these 4 "randoms" with very little depth to their personalities. Nothing about any of them captivated me.
2) the real plot of the series, which kicks off by the 3rd episode, is not properly introduced to the viewer and each episode was very hard to follow
This show for me was a waste of two potentially awesome characters (Macha Green and her nemesis) turned into a "WTF did I just watch?" and not in an amusing way. It's a 4/10 for me.

This review will have no spoilers.
Animation: the visuals are very simplistic but it works for this type of anime
Sound:
1) in my opinion the soundtrack is forgettable
2) the main selling point of this anime is the seiyuus. Every single one of them has loads of experience in voicing all type of characters in many other animes. Their experience was very noticeable throughout the episodes
...
Story and characters:
1) There is a supernatural element but to be honest it doesn't add anything to the story. Despite being based on japanese folklore and that usually is enough to keep me interested, the fact that the story wouldn't change a thing without it, turns me off.
2) Sometimes the humor is really good. However, there's also instances of transphobia and that's disgusting.
3) I was into the story until it went from "learning how to be friendly towards others" to "omg I'm a 15 year old in love with a 22 year old and I don't know how to express my feelings!". It got incredibly boring (and disturbing) once that shift happened.
4) Miketsukami's behaviour becomes really annoying to watch. There's no character development whatsoever. His "story" reveal also takes too long to be shown to the viewer. What I mean is, too many minutes are spent to "explain" his past... which in reality the viewer doesn't even take half that time to get what happened and his "big secret" is. Terrible, terrible pacing.
5) 4 or 5 episodes tease about a scene that legit will never happen and I do not appreciate that at all
All things considered, I have to give this anime a 6/10. I was into it until the 8th episode but afterwards it became incredibly boring for me.

Shenmue is an amazing story that began in 1999 and to this day it's still unfinished. This anime is an adaptation of the first 2 games in the franchise.
I really hate the gameplay elements of both games but the story is just phenomenal. When this anime was announced I was hyped to experience just the good part of the saga. I still believe it's mandatory to experience the games, although I'd recommend to watch someone else play it because the gameplay of the 1st two games is atrocious, as I said before.
Animation & Sound:
1) The visuals look very faithful to the games except
...
for Ryo and Ren's faces. I wish Ryo looked more babyfaced but both of their faces look too big compared to their game versions.
2) The animation is quite inconsistent and CGI just ruins whatever good could be happening visually.
3) Most of the cast kept their roles and I'm very happy about it. However Wong should've been voiced by a woman and his character design should've looked more boyish and shorter.
4) I like the soundtrack and the voice acting feels very "old school", like the games did
Story and characters:
1) For the first 7 episodes I was super into it. The way the story develops is very close to how the games progressed without the "game stuff". After this point, more and more things change compared to the games. It bothered me but nothing too "serious". Or so I hoped. The last 2 episodes of this anime present the ending of the 2nd game in a totally different way. This really, really bothers me.
2) The pacing was good for the majority of the anime but during the 2nd half, it felt incredibly rushed so I didn't enjoy it as much
This anime was one I was really excited about but the way they did the ending was a major let down. This is a 6,5/10.
