Hahaha. Gurren Lagann is more of a feel good show. I really liked it, but no it doesn't have much psychological stuff OR lesbians in the show. Haha. Symphogear was alright. It does have a lot of solid action, which sadly a lot of animes are lacking nowadays (you'd be surprised at how low the standards are for action shows). Overall, it was decent. It's hard for me to recommend, but it wasn't a waste of time imo.

I think I attempted Maria-sama ga Miteru as well. Yeah, it was a little slow which is why I didn't get into it when I was younger. Maybe I'll like it now? Another slow yuri show is Aoi Hana, but eh can't really recommend that show either, since I thought it was boring as well. But hey, you might like it. It is one of those slower paced type of shows as well.

L.A. Noire has a lot of good and a lot of bad. Maybe I'll rant and rave about the game for a little.

First the good is that I feel L.A. Noire is innovative, putting some pretty creative mysteries into a sandbox type of game. The audio lip-syncing is top-notch. I mean you've seen videos of the game, right? I mean I heard L.A. Noire had good voice overs and good facial movements during scenes, but dang this game really impresses. I'd say that L.A. Noire is worth playing just for that, but.... the game has a few "big" flaws. (I'll get into that later) Another thing I like about L.A. Noire is that it doesn't hold your hand as you explore the mysteries. I mean not everything is said and told, so you actually have to use your brain to put one and one together.

I mean I was able to solve the mysteries just fine, but by the end of the cases sometimes I didn't really understand why the murder was done and what was the motive behind some of the evidence. My cousin who was watching me play at the time had to explain it to me, because the game clearly didn't. He was like blah blah used blah blah and that's how he blah blah. And I was just so dumbfounded. I mean I expected L.A. Noire to recap how these things were done to me. Maybe I'm just babied by too many Japanese games and animes where they spell out every single clue in big letters to make sure the audience really gets it. But if you don't read behind the lines or think about the cases beyond what is told, then it's a pretty confusing story. I always compare this game to Ace Attorney (which I like more) just for the sake that they are both mystery games. I like the AA series more just because the AA series always puts humor into the game with some witty dialogue and a likeable cast. AA was a bit wordy, but I was never truly lost in the plot in the AA series.

The bad is that I feel that L.A. Noire isn't really a game. I mean the gameplay parts of this game aren't done well. I felt like Rockstar had a good idea, but then realized they were making a game, so they had to put more "gaming interactions" in it.

There are shooting segments which felt awkwardly placed in the game and I felt that this was put in to attract the majority of the audience seeing how cool gun fights are. The driving controls are a bit clunky and traveling through L.A. is a bit slow. Thank goodness there's an auto drive button that skips you to your destinations automatically. I mean Rockstar put in a lot of time putting tons of details into the city of Los Angeles, but the truth is that I just have no urge to explore it.

Another complaint is that it doesn't really matter what option you choose. For example you choose the wrong answer the game still proceeds. You choose the right answer not much is different. So I feel like the rewards for getting answers right is a little how do I say it... uninspiring?

And L.A. Noire just gets repetitive too soon. The whole game is about interrogating people for information and you choose from three options such as if they're lying, telling the truth, or to doubt them. You can tell this by their facial expressions after they speak. Which after playing the game for a while it doesn't feel like a mystery game, but instead just turns into a "how well can you determine facial movements."

Oh yeah, you get to see a lot of naked dead bloody woman in this game.

Overall, I'd say L.A. Noire is innovative, but it lacks polish. It probably appeals more towards gamers who likes Western-type of games or people who like CSI. I'll stick to my happy Japanese games and the fun of the AA/Layton series where I don't have to think as hard as L.A. Noire. I'm not even joking L.A. Noire has given me about three headaches so far ranging from the mysteries to the poor gameplay mechanics. Mostly the latter though.

My mom is doing fine. Oh, she got surgery on her neck, because some of her neck plates became misaligned. She can't move her head to the left or right and she can't extend her arms for long and lift up heavy objects.

If you do go to Kumoricon come and meet me. I'm bringing my cousin (this will be her first con O:) and she wanted to cosplay as well. So we're cosplaying a simple anime that she knows. LOL. The first season of Digimon. hur dur dur

But I'm pretty sure there's a lot of yuri animes out there. Heck, one of my favorite shows this season is a somewhat slice-of-life yuri show. Hahaha, your boyfriend should cosplay Chihaya or Manger. Jerome stopped watching anime and stuff and is mainly just playing video games. He preordered P4Arena and has been playing League of Legends like all year and stuff. We talk occasionally, but not often.

If you like yuri, you should watch my favorite yuri show (maybe you already have), but it's called Strawberry Panic and it's like been ages since I watched it and stuff, but it's still like my all time favorite yuri show. I also like Kannazuki no Miko, but that has mecha aspects in it as well and not a lot of people like that show. D:

My friend just let me borrow L.A. Noire, so I've been playing that. Whenever I play it I keep thinking to myself that they should make a Phoenix Wright or Layton-style game for consoles. I'd totally play that. But otherwise L.A. Noire has some good mysteries though it is a bit too restricted to me. And I don't really like the driving sequences. The shooting sequences aren't bad either I guess.

My mom is doing fine. She can walk and chew food again, but she still can't reach her arm higher than 90 degrees, so I have to help out around the house and stuff.

Are you going to Kumoricon? I might go for one day (for like three or four hours). Not buy a pass and just wander in the park. Maybe do a cosplay. Most likely not and just reuse an old one or just wear regular clothes and see Christina and Ceili and such. Though everyone is going to PAX this year though.

I feel like such a weeaboo watching anime on a laptop at the hospital while waiting for my mom to finish her surgery.

And then I noticed that I'm the only one posting on your myanimelist profile so that makes me feel like I'm the most weeaboo out of all your friends. ._.

You make me sound so evil. There are games that I find in the middle ground, like the Atelier series and White Knight Chronicles. Both are meh, so they fall in the middle level. Sorry, I guess I do focus on the negatives more than the positives when I talk about video games or animes. And lol I like how we use myanimelist to talk about video games. cause we're so coooool.

Hahaha, Julia you're so funny. My mom always tells me that I'm too childish watching anime and playing video games all the time, but I don't really care.

You and your boyfriend watch Idolmaster? That's kind of awesome. I wish more people would watch Idolmaster. Ernesto only likes the generic action shows and such and Jerome just... doesn't.. watch... anime anymore. You know what my favorite genre in anime is? Josei. I actually didn't like this genre back when I was in high school and now I love it. Jerome makes fun of me cause I'm such an old woman, but it's just so good.

Have you played Xenoblade? I want to, but like yeah Wii. Maybe I'll borrow my cousins and play it or something. I did that with a few games that I really wanted to play, Trauma Team, I love love love that game.

999 has I believe five ending, plus one throwaway ending. And yeah I played the games five times to see all the endings. Thank goodness for the fast forward dialogue option when you beat the game. It fast forwards all dialogue that you've already seen and stops when it gets to new dialogue.

I'm actually in the hospital at the moment, because my mom is getting surgery. So I'm here all day in the waiting room using the hospital wi-fi. I guess I'll marathon some random anime on my backlog since I don't have any handheld systems.

Dang sister for stealing the oh so magical internet connections. It sounds like you live an interesting and fun life with your sister.

I'm so tired since I had to wake up at 6AM to go to the hospital and I fell asleep last night somewhere around 3AM. I keep trying to watch all these slice-of-life animes in the lobby, but I can't concentrateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeadgioahgajsio. And I can't fall asleep cause what happens if like someone comes and kidnaps me or steals my precious anime and my precious laptop that belongs to my mom.

Yeah, true. I mean I personally enjoy the game more if it's more fun to play, like I mean I even like Star Ocean 4 and the story and characters in that game were horrible. But the gameplay was just so fun that I found myself enjoying the game. Vice versa too. I really really hyped up Fragile Dreams and it turned out to be one of the most disappointing games I've ever played and beaten. From the first ten minutes I started up the game and found the combat system to be this dull I knew I was worried.

Sadly the plot wasn't especially good either. I remember there was an interview with the director of Fragile Dreams and they asked him a lot of questions and he just responded to most of them with, "I don't know" or "we haven't thought that far." The game was artistically beautiful, but the gameplay was so dull and the mundane amount of backtracking and the gigantic bleh of the second half of the game really takes what I enjoyed about its premise away. I think the only thing I remember is that.... oh wait... I shouldn't say it cause I don't know if you've beaten it or not.

It's funny cause I sold the original WKC, because I found it bland and when I heard that WKCII included WKCI in it, I was like, "oh lol good thing I sold the first one." I made my original character really ugly in the first one, so I'm tempted in starting with just a new save file and remaking my avatar. I'll probably play it offline and not online like I did for the first one.

I'm like 99.9% sure you're gonna love Nier. Seriously I'll be surprised if you end up actually hating it.

I usually just play JRPGs on consoles. I'm usually not a handheld-type person, which is why I only own a PS3 this gen and only buy games for it, but at least that gives me time to catch up on most every JRPG that comes out for it. Plus that makes my wishlist of games that much shorter.

I love 999 sooo muchhhh. I cried at the ending and every time I listen to the soundtrack. -goes off to play the OST-

There hasn't been like anything for the Vita that I'm even remotely interested in. And I don't know why I'm just not interested in P4A just cause I know I'll probably play it for like two hours and then never touch it again. I do like Atlas, but Catherine being the only Atlus-developed game on the PS3 there's not much I can go off on. I do like NISA though they publish a lot of RPGs on the PS3 (though most of them suck at least it's on the only system I own).

-gasp- You're watching Idolmaster? I LOVEEEEE IDOLMASTER.

ARE YOU LADY?
shuffleair Jul 28, 2012 2:04 AM
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that Lineages & Legacies was terribad. All I hear is praise from it on the message boards. The story felt so forced and the dialogue was just terrible. Not to mention the random increase in difficulty and the reusing the same dungeons to add gameplay time, plus all the dungeons added to that chapter sucked. I hated that one warping forest dungeon.

I feel our tastes in video games are quite different now.... or at least for the Tales series. I know you'll hate me for this, but I was actually in fact just playing Tales of the Abyss an hour ago just to relive it again. And I actually liked Catherine, it was disappointing, but I still overall found it to be a good game.

Haha. Your backlog seems pretty interesting. I've played most of the games on there. HEY White Knight Chronicles 2! That's on my backlog as well. I still have the game in it's plastic since I'm not ready to play it, but what do you think of the game so far? I can only say for the first (since I've beaten that), but imo I thought WKC was actually very plain. Like personally I found nothing too interesting about WKC and overall it just gave off a meh feeling for me. I heard WKCII is an improvement, but I guess I'll see it when I play it.

I feel like I should really like Nier. I know Jacob LOVES Nier, and I do have to admit that Nier has a really good soundtrack and the plot is a fresh breather from the typical JRPG, but I just can't get myself to enjoy playing it. (I personally think you'll like this game since you seem to be more into the music and the plot rather than the gameplay.) Like I even played it THREE times just to "see" everything. I feel like Nier has some great ideas but I just couldn't get myself into it.

My backlog currently is: Atelier Totori (playing), Assassin's Creed: Revelations (supa kawaiiest game in my backlog), Tales of Graces f (again...), and then White Knight Chronicles II. I do want to get Dragon's Dogma though. ._.
shuffleair Jul 27, 2012 7:34 PM
EDIT: I just looked it up on youtube and the line is really, "You worthless peons, you have betrayed a goddess." My bad.

And was it just me or was I the only one slightly disappointed with the Graces f soundtrack?
shuffleair Jul 27, 2012 7:28 PM
Yeah, it's a little creepy and I'll tell you the details about it sometime.

Aw. Laura Bailey isn't that bad. She did voice Marta.. ugh.. from that wretched game Symphonia II. You know I'm just gonna pretend that game didn't exist for the time being. I'm actually planning on running through Graces again since I want to discover everything and stuff. I like Cheria. I usually play as her or Asbel... sometimes Hubert since he gives off such great combos.

Is Jacob gonna cosplay Malik? OOOOO:

FIOASDJG. I LOVE EMERUADE. I don't know what that makes me like her so much, but she is so awesome. I love her quote when you defeat her and she says, "You worthless peons, you have defied a goddess." Plus her voice is sexy.

AND XILLIA IS COMING TO AMERICA. I LIKE DIED AFTER HEARING THAT.

Also currently playing Atelier Totori at the moment, which imo is actually a very mediocre game series. But hey since I bought the limited edition version of the game (which I regret) I might as well finish it. ._.
shuffleair Jul 26, 2012 11:36 AM
I do love this. Hahaha.

Yeah, I had a creepy stalker so I just temporarily disabled my facebook account for a week or two.

I finally finished Tales of Graces f and idk if you've played it yet, but somehow whenever I think of Cheria I always think you should cosplay her. though for some reason I'm just guessing you would hate her.

And did you go on MyAnimeList just to send this to me? O:
shuffleair Feb 4, 2012 11:30 PM
Hey, I noticed you're watching Symphogear. How do you like that?
shuffleair Feb 3, 2012 10:46 PM
I watched the first episode, but being a three minute show works both for and against it. I think it has potential of being funny, but it’s hard to think a show at this length will ever leave the viewer/me feeling really satisfied. If the joke works you’ll want to watch more. But if it falls flat the impression will be nothing.

It feels more like a commercial rather than an actual show. And if it ends up being a disaster there's not much to be lost, since it is only three minutes long.
shuffleair Jan 11, 2012 11:47 AM
Aw. Hope you get better, so you don't have to watch so much anime and play so much PSP. Is that why you've been marathoning Penguindrum at such a fast pace? What PSP game ya playin?

lol Haruhi. I think that series lost most of its fans from the second season. Best eight episode everrrrr. I actually watched them all week by week when they were released. ;A;

Ha ha, good. I'm glad that you gave Madoka that score. At least it's not a nine or a ten like every single person on this website.

I personally think Madoka is the kind of show that is only popular for a short time and will be soon forgotten in a few years.
shuffleair Jan 8, 2012 11:53 AM
yo. good to see you gave Madoka such a good score.
