Been watching anime since I was 6 years old and it's ruined my life completely so you could say I'm a bit of an expert on the medium
Don't expect everything I've ever watched to be on here, I'm far from meticulous when it comes to recording what shows I've watched, so there are shows that I've seen or forgotten about and the list also doesn't count unfinished shows or rewatches
Strongly enjoy self-contained and tightly directed stories
Burger man
Diet Pepsi man
Gunpla man
Use even sadness as fuel to light the way.
ALSO A FEW NOTES:
- Patlabor The Movie 1 and 2 occupy the same spot; both are 10's and both are incredible go watch them
- I use the top 10 as a primer and palette to give an idea what my taste is like, but in reality there are plenty of shows and movies that I like just as much as those on the top 10 that aren't there, so keep that in mind.
- Don't rate something until you've finished it. Figured this would be obvious but apparently not

The story is a complete mess, with a poor plot, weak pacing and uninteresting characters. The motivations of the characters are hard to understand and the show fails to explore the themes it tries to tackle in any meaningful way.
It's clear that my taste in anime is far superior to yours, I would never waste my time watching something as terrible as "Ping Pong". I suggest you take some pointers from me and start watching shows that are actually worth your time.
Also, about these inspirations you mentioned. I can't stop to wonder why people talking about Tarantino here; maybe in more complex way, like how author compiles references to different movies (taxi driver with insomnia for example). But not in terms of a dialogue, though. To me, Odd Taxi was more like a Coen brothers copycat. Not in a bad way though. Many interconnected subplots that abstract and over-the-top humorous but at the same time very believable is unique feature of many of their films.
So all in all this is the work of a self-taught man who tries to imitate his favourite movies. He tried too much in too many ways and failed to deliver in half of them. Been there, done that. That melted my heart; in some scenes I literally thought about how I'd write that dialogue the same. He's not bad, actually - I dare to say promising. Definetely want to see his next works.
Also it's very funny how this man came to anime industry doing art-movie copycat and instantly became praised by regular viewers giving him easy tens. Speak volumes
