...then you might like
Shirobako
add

Both of these titles are about anime production. The main characters even share the same positions. They are a great way to learn how anime is made and the interesting "characters" behind it. Animation Runner Kuromi is shorter and bit older (so some of the information is a little out of date) but is a great quick glance into production. Shirobako is a 2 cour series so it goes much more in depth and includes modern techniques like using 3D.

DOLL: IC in a Doll
add

Doll starts out as (mostly) self-contained stories about how humanity interacts with robots and each other, often with Twilight Zone twist endings. The short stories in Don't Say Any More, Darling give the same feeling of stories about humanity and twist endings only with more of a yaoi flavor. The second story in Don't Say Any More Darling (My Eternal Sweetheart) really reminded me of Doll as it was a futuristic story and touching about sexaroids and their creator.

Both of these titles feature bizarre schools, where young female students get kidnapped by the bad guys all the time. Both feature heroines who fight back (and distract) with their bodies quite literally. They also both very wacky, full of parodies, and very ecchi.

If you liked
Mazinkaiser
add
...then you might like
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
add

On the surface both shows feature über over the top mecha and hot blooded pilots. The mechs even share many similar abilities. (Not surprising since Gurren Lagann was an homage to 70's mecha anime which is where Mazinkaiser has it's roots). They also share some of the same type of stylization in design and animation. Mazinkaiser sticks to it's 1970's roots but does feature a heavy think lined art style much like Gurren Lagann. Both titles have some oddly kinetic and bouncy animation and are very colorful.

Shoujo Kakumei Utena

Rose of Versailles seems an obvious inspiration for Revolutionary Girl Utena. Set in Revolutionary France the main character is a woman raised as a man fulfilling a man's role. Much of the setting from Versailles seems to be the inspiration for the style of Utena.
