Greetings, and welcome to the Summer Edition of the Namine's Café Newsletter
We have a whole bunch of events planned at the cafe, including another major character competition, an AMV competition, a new monthly 'Design a Game' attraction, as well as several more cool events. Also, because IMG tags our working again, we now have official badges for the cafe, and official members cards will be coming soon. The details for each of our event sare listed in the below spoilers:
Naine's Café Supporting Character Competition
Following the incredible success of the Moe Competition we held in the Spring, we've decided to follow that up with another competition. Last month, we held a vote on what type of character competition we should hold, and Supporting Character won hands down.
Here's how it works:
The competition takes place in two phases. The first phase is where everyone gets to nominate supporting characters for the competition. You can nominate up to 5 anime/manga characters, listed as supporting in the MAL database. They can be your favorites, or just characters that you believe are the most cool. You rank your nominees from 1 to 5. The ranking determines how many points each character gets, like so:
#1 choice is worth 5 points
#2 choice is worth 4 points
#3 choice is worth 3 points
#4 choice is worth 2 points
#5 choice is worth 1 point
The points each character gets from each members nomination are cumulative, and when the nominations are over, the points will be counted, and the top 32 characters will compete in a bracket style competition where then members vote on them in one on one competitions.
The nomination phase will last 15 days, starting on Tuesday, 7/1/2014, and will close on Wednesday, 7/16/2014. The first voting competition will start on Friday, 7/18/2014. A new competition will start every day, and each vote is open for 2 days. This means there Will be a total of 31 competitions to name a champion.
Here are the rules:
As stated above, you can nominate up to 5 supporting characters. It can be less than 5, but it cannot be more. Any character over the first 5 will be removed.
The nominee must be listed as Supporting in MAL. Furthermore, they must primarily be a supporting character. If they are listed as a supporting character in a series, but then the main character in like 5 other series, they don't count.
List the full name of each character to be nominated, as well as an anime that he/she/it is in. Hot-linking the character to their MAL page is welcome, but not required.
Only one nomination list per member, please.
No double nominating. Meaning that the same character is nominated as your 1st and 3rd choice. If this happens, the 2nd listing will be removed.
Winners & Awards:
If one of your nominees gets into the final four, you'll get a special card with her on it, custom designed to your preferences by the Namine's Cafe card makers. There will be special awards if you nominated the winning character, such as ebooks, custom AMVs, specially custom made banners, and other prizes
Please note, if you any questions on this, please contact militus, the cafe's event manager who will be managing the competition.
Namine's Café AMV Competition
With the Cafe's Song of the Weeks getting more and more popular, Sipi, our music admin, will be holding our first ever AMV competition. Similar to the moe & supporting character competitions, the AMV competition will be in two phases, a nomination phase and a tournament phase. However, there is a little catch, as well (keep reading :-)).
The nomination phase starts 07/10/2014 and will end when we get at least 30 AMVs for the first round preliminary vote, plus an optional 4 custom AMVs. After the nominations are over, there is going to be preliminary round voting where top 12-16 AMVs will be decided, depending on the next step.
The tournament will consist of 16 AMVs. However, If any members are willing to create a well made custom AMV for the competition, they will get one of the top slots in te tournament phase, as well as special awards and prizes (TBD) for taking the extra effort. If there are more than 4 custom AMVs, we will hold a small tournament to decide the top 4.
The top 16 will then have vs. battle tournament where the winner advances to the next round finally leaving the two finalists, and ultimately the winner.
Namine's Café Monthly 'Design a Game'
Namine's café is opening a game request thread. If you have a game design idea, feel free to post it in the thread. A vote will be held each month to decide which games are added, with the winners getting awards and prizes, including one prize of a Staff Admin position as the new cafe games manager.
Namine's Café Official Club Badges
Kitsune77, one of the cafe's most skilled card designers, has graciosuly designed official club badges for the cafe. Please Click Here to be redirected to the thread and order your badges. Kitsune will even resize your badges after they are created so that they will fit in your forum signature area.
While the badges will not immediately be needed for anything in the cafe, eventually, they may be needed to support things like ordering cards and playing in tournaments. Along with this, We will also be adding awards, prizes, and other special goodies for participation in the café in some events and deeds done in the café. Examples of the prizes may be custom made cards, badges, & banners, ebooks, custom AMVs, and many others

We are currently planning some possible Steam game tournaments in the future, and feedback on this would be awesome. Also, we may be getting our Minecraft server back, as well.
Hello, everyone! I'm sending out this newsletter to inform everyone of a competition that the Slice of Life Club is currently hosting! If you're interested in voting on character polls, cute girls and/or winning a profile picture or banner, then keep reading!

Greetings, Namine's Cafe is holding our first annual Moe Girl Competition
The competition takes place in two phases. The first phase is where everyone gets to nominate moe girls for the competition. The nomination thread will open on Sunday (3/10/2014), and will last for 10 days, Each cafe member can nominate up to 5 girls, with a point systems as follows:
#1 choice is worth 5 points
#2 choice is worth 4 points
#3 choice is worth 3 points
#4 choice is worth 2 points
#5 choice is worth 1 point
Unlike this, the Namine's Cafe Moe Competition will only be for Moe girls. Kawaii/ecchi girls will have their own competition later. To help ensure that only moe girls are nominated, we will have a panel of judges who will review the nominations, and if they unanimously determine that a nominee is not moe, then that specific nominee will be disqualified from the competition. To assist, here is a definition of moe, as stated by our judges:
Moe is an affection for cute girls doing cute things that excludes sexual desire. Moe will either minimizes the sexualization of their characters, or won't even reference sex at all. Lolicon depicts children as objects of sexual gratification, literally a romantic and sexual desire focused on a child. That being said, there are some lolicon characters that are also depicted as moe.
If a nominee is disqualified, she will be removed from the member's list. The rest of the member's list will still be available for the competition, but backfilling a disqualified nominee will not be allowed.
After the nominations are over, the points for each girl are tallied. The top 32 are put into a bracket style competition, the one with the most points will be ranked #1, and will face the one ranked #32 with the least points (no random competition selection).
A new competition will start every two days, and each vote is open for 4 days. This means there Will be a total of 31 competitions to name a champion. The winning character will get a special place on the layout for her, a card edition just for her, and have the fame and recognition of being Namine's Cafe's first moe champion (LOL). If we get enough support for the moe competition, we may follow it up with other competitions.
Haha, Fairy Tail is really badly written and there's nothing I hate more in any form of writing than badly written characters. Yay~ I can't wait to see what you think of it! :3
Yes, the beginning of Death Note was executed superbly. For the most part, it did not have to rely on much else than it's good storytelling (there are some issues, but all series have issues). Well there's nothing wrong with that. And that is very true~ Ah, I didn't do anything really. xD I just enjoy talking to people about anime, it really gives me some insight for when I write my own story.
Well lesser known ones would probably not be able to convert a good quality. Yup that's what a converting program is. The issue is some converting programs are more high quality than others (and it takes research to find one that suits you). Generally speaking, you would want a HD output but some programs cannot do that because their sole purpose is for playing on something like an iPod.
Well, thank you~
My drawings aren't that good. xD On top of that, I haven't really drawn anything in a long time. Maybe someday I'll show you if I can ever bother to get one of my drawings on the web. I mostly write fantasy stuff. I'm working on a long term series (I've been working on it for years) that is a fantasy series and that's mostly all that I write (I don't like writing short stories though I have a lot of them under my belt).
Wow, that's a first. Most people aren't that excited to go back to school and working. xD I sure am not happy that I'm back at school and working on top of it.
I try though but I usually quit after not feeling a great contraction and end up doing like 2-4 boring sets. I very rarely do abs cuz I hate doing them. But for some reason last time I did abs which was this Tuesday, I did knee-ups and, I always mostly feel it in my legs which is annoying because I'm trying to work out my abs, not make my legs tired, and it gets harder to lift them.
Next thing I know, after being back from the gym and lifting myself from my bed I felt my abs were sore. And even more so the next day. I didn't feel much contraction when I was doing them, almost none at all actually, but they were hard and sore the next day, that's weird.
I never heard of pikes actually, I'll check them out on youtube later.
Naturally I get sore when I worked out really hard which I always try my best to do so. But its mostly the pump sore.
Sore sore I only get it when I switch my workout routine.
Of course its not the beginner sore anymore. Because I workout 4 times a week and arms/legs/chest twice a week.
I'm getting back at my usual routine because after finishing my night courses in college I got more lazy in going to the gym. That was like 2 months ago.
Having no job & money to buy your bodybuilding food is less motivating too, especially because dieting gives you a scheduled routine to eat every specific hour. BUT the funny thing is I got a call today for an interview for tomorrow xD
Interested in helping me setting up my Jpop/Kpop website? I am planning on making a website for fans of both korean and japanese pop, with free streaming of anime, japanese/korean movies, and online manga. But I need a few more henchmen :p
I actually don't have a particular preference for any particular genre, as long as I'm interested in what the anime is going to offer, and that it succeeds in what it's trying to do. That, and the art. I can't stand anime with shitty artwork.
Finally took a look into all of this. It isn't hard at all, just a lot to keep track of >.< my head hurts. Anyways thank you for the info and once again for the profile layout. Was able to update my about me successfully and hopefully I can add some more later on, however I cannot do font correct titles b/c I have no idea what font you used on them :o. If possible, could I get a link or something of the sort :D?
Btw, just a heads up. By leaving out a lot of characters, I mean a lot. Take a look @ the characters list when you get a chance at what could've been :p. I've just been copying and pasting the MAL images so that is all going well. Would love to use different pics for some which would require resizing, cropping, and posting to the internet somehow :p.
Yea i got the stuff on the profile. Gonna play w/ the empty columns for a bit :D. Once again thank you very much! The last request if you feel like doing it is how do you get the images on the net when you resized/cropped them? I can do the resizing and cropping to an extent, just gonna need to spend some time on that, but I am puzzled w/ how you get them on the web so you can use the bbc code which is restricted to internet only pics. Also still very impressed by how you did the text, not even gonna ask how you did that b/c I feel like it took a lot of paint or w/e program work that I cannot even attempt to do :D. However, if the text is actually not incredibly hard i'd love to learn how to do it b/c I will have to edit my about me soon b/c Im heading back to college sunday :3.

Damn I talked a lot here. xD
weighted sit ups and hanging leg raises, alright thanks.
But leg raises are freaking hard, damn.
Is it true that eating vegetables help you feel less sore when you workout?
Or maybe its because I've been lazy in working out the past month...
