I see you gave Ping Pong the animation a 7. Why so? I thought it was really close to Tatami Galaxy (Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei) and Kaiba. Yuasa aced in those 3. In terms of enjoyment, i felt Tatami and Kaiba were equal and better than Ping Pong, but Ping Pong itself was a behemoth all in all, barely any flaws, and the stories of the characters were all pretty good and masterfully presented. What flaws did you find in it?
GoT was always proceeding in slow mo for me so no surprise there. I think I'll wait for the entire season to finish airing and then marathon it. I'm also going to watch Better Call Saul (Breaking bad spinoff) and the 2nd season of True Detective which should come out in the summer. I recently started watching Daredevil but only watched 1 ep so can't say much about it. Six feet under was the show I enjoyed the most this year thus far.
I see, I started playing Half Life I finished the first game so I'm currently playing the 2nd part, fantastic game, never to late to discover it.
So any anime/manga/tv shows/movies you've enjoyed lately? It has been quite a while :)
Aside from Kyousougiga i've been continuing down my path of Gundam stuff which i've just been watching a lot of lately, idk why. I finished ZZ which ended up being pretty bad and I started Unicorn which is okay so far, the narrative feels a bit more unbiased than usual on a side of the war which is nice and it has some okay-ish new themes, but it's mostly standard Gundam stuff - looks and sounds amazing though. I've also been watching Aria the Natural, I finished the first season which is an above average slice-of-life and natural is a the same way. It's good but I don't think it's really anything special at this point, I hear great things of the third season though so im excited for that.
Ah yes, i've heard a lot of good things about both of those and will probably start them sometime in the future. I plan on starting them after maybe finishing Kiseijuu and Oyasumi Punpun (which is really good but I just stopped reading for one reason or another, im going to start reading it again soon though,). I've also started Kiseijuu and I like it but I don't think it's anything great so far, it has some interesting concepts and execution though.
I did just finish Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa and I have to say it was actually quite a great read. Some really powerful character development and one of the most cathartic pieces of fiction i've seen. It has a lot of interesting metaphor and is a really entertaining and inspiring ride. Some of the middle arcs did drag on too long and I have a few problems with it but it's still very good and the last arc and the ending are incredible.
I see, I can't say that I've watched many great anime either...well besides Hunter x Hunter , I can't believe how amazing the Chimera Ant arc was, especially the ending, just beautiful. I've been planning to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion for years, never got around it though. I've been watching Dragon Ball and it's pretty enjoyable so far but I want to get to DBZ already. Idk if you've watched Dragon Ball but the Red Ribbon Army saga is boring for the most part though now it's getting better.
I have to admit that I'm not that huge of a manga fan but there are some manga out there that you absolutely should read. My recs that I believe would be worthy of your time has to be Oyasumi Punpun and Vagabond. Both different but amazing, masterful, whatever you want to call it. You should totally give them a shot when you have free time. I red like 100 chapters of Vagabond in 1 day, it was that addictive.
Btw I noticed that we haven't talked for a year now, holy shit how fast time seems to fly.
