When Hana replaces her sister at an omiai (like a goukon, but for marriage) little does she expect to be insulted and called plain and flat-chested by the handsome and older Takane! Furious, she turns the tables on him by accepting the match instead of rejecting him. How will these two ever find love?
This series is downright hilarious and definitely not cliche. The main female lead is a professional roaster, and the main male lead is just so nosy and his facial expressions are hilarious! I found myself cracking up every single page. It also breaks the cliche shoujo image of a "couple" and gives a little bit more real perspective to how couples truly act. The storyline is great and the age gap can be odd, but you get used to it and actually find yourself rooting for the main female lead. I'll give it a 10, to show how serious I recommend you read this.
I am writing a review for this manga because I recently began reading it and realised that there were no reviews prior to this. This is an enjoyable manga in which a 16 year old high school student is forced to attend a miai instead off her older sister. At the miai she meets an arrogant, narcisistic business man who is 26 years old and is going to be the next head of the company. The meeting occurs in a funny way from the start and their relationship is a humorous love hate relationship. The 2 of them are always teasing each other and share
a lot of comedic moments together with the guy, Takane trying to pull Hana into the luxirous world while Hana lives the life of a commoner.
The art style of this manga is nice and detailed and is easy to follow.
This manga took me by surprise. I was expecting a typical shoujo romance manga but instead was pleasantly surprised by the plot, art style and COMEDY. Believe me, this manga will not disappoint in the comedy department, you will find yourself cracking up at various parts.
From the beginning it had a funny set up. A 16 yo high school girl fills in for her older sister in meeting a 26 year old for a "MIAI" which is like two people meeting up for a possible marriage match. From the beginning the two main characters have an interesting meeting and from that very first incident up
until the current volume, the banter between these two has continued and has actually remained funny.
The female lead is pretty awesome, she does not fit into the typical female shoujo character of being shy , timid and being dominated by the man. This girl will go tit for tat with this guy and her witty remarks are at times so unmatched in the funniest ways! lol (I am laughing just thinking about some of the scenes). The guy is also pretty unique, he comes off to be really full of himself but as the story progresses you can see that he has more to him than what is initially shown, plus no matter how cocky or arrogant he tries to be, it won't work because he has finally met his match!
I also like how they have progressed the relationship between these two in a more realistic manner than most mangas in this genre. They don't just jump into falling in love. The author takes time to really layer and nurture their connection throughout the chapters, which I think will make for a pretty satisfying connection in the end.
The art took some getting used to for me, at first there was just so much going on, but after a few chapters you can adapt pretty well and it becomes easier to follow along. The facial expressions were some of my favorite, they are so funny and I loved it!
I am not sure where the story will go as of yet because it is still ongoing, but if I had to pick one thing I would like to see in the coming chapters, It would be to dive into the major dilemma between these to which is the age difference. The last chapter explores that a bit; however, since this is primarily a comedic shoujo manga, most of it tends to be pretty light and fun, so I think it will be a good balance to explore those elements in a more serious and conflicted manner to really draw the reader in.
I was not expecting to give it such a high score, but I think it deserves it. I would definitely recommend reading this one. I look forward to seeing where the story goes and get ready for some laughs! :)
I laughed so much reading the first chapter that I wanted to review it immediately. However, I waited patiently and now that I'm finally caught up, I can honestly say that this is one of the funniest mangas I've ever read. Rather than having spurs of comic relief every now and then, this has a lot of funny moments - accentuated by the expressions and actions of each individual character.
Background and Characters:
The main characters end up meeting each other as potential marriage prospects and although are very different from each other in age and behavior, end up triggering each others interest in a rather unconventional
way. Both are witty, calculating (in a fun way), and unwilling to conceded defeat. What unravels as a result is a series of hilarious instances where they try to outdo each other; while of course developing feelings. Most of the story so far has been centered around them going out on "dates" and slowly getting a glimpse of each others lives - including their families and friends. The story development is going very well.
Now, the male lead is good looking, suave, rich and popular with the women (duh!) and is a well established business tycoon. The female, on the other hand, is a cutesy high school student. Nonetheless, she is very smart, witty and comical. The age gap between the characters was a bit weird at first - simply cause the female lead is actually portrayed as a normal 16 year old (with a cute baby face) rather than some fully grown woman, which I have to admit - made the story realistic. It also makes their relationship rather interesting and funny. I cannot wait to see how the story unfolds.
Also, the side characters are pretty funny too.. my favorite side characters are the female lead's BFF's (Friend A and Friend B ;) ) Give it a chance, read the first chapter; and if you like it, you will love the entire series!
