Personally i found this one of the best yaoi manga reads out there, it has everything you will ever love from some steamy yaoi.

The characters are stunning and Yamane Ayano knows just how to portray their wonderful individual personalities. She draws them ever sowonderfully, with such attention to detail with their body structures, everything youd love to see in a yaoi.

This yaoi is full of all the steaminess you could wish for, and as well as a beautiful storyline, with action and wonderful romance. Its fall of so many amazing twists and plots and enough steam through out the great plot to keep eyes alert!
You ... will be sure to instantly fall for the main characters, Akihito Takaba and Asami twisted love story, is it really as forced and unrequited as it seems? youll have to watch and see how the lust unfolds. But i assure you this will be one yaoi manga you wont be disappointed with.

Finder Series is basically an action story. I mean a sexy action yaoi story. And that’s pretty much it. The charm of it resides in the twists, the danger, and the rush. There is no pink here, only some humorous situations; and when you think you are seeing love it is the hard version of it, or the desire to posses. I would strongly disagree with this kind of sadistic and unfeeling relationship if it wasn’t so nicely portrayed, as the perfectly fitting cat and mouse game for these complicated and strong men.

It is only in the later stages of the story that we ... (and the characters) start wondering about the nature of their feelings. Their relationship started like a game of power, then desire and it’s probably evolving to something more after so much near-to-death situations that bring out the things that really matter to surface.

As mentioned above, the plot is action driven, with a rather common abuse at the beginning, and later it develops into a mafia war. Fairly interesting and absorbing, even with a lot of sex scenes it manages to have a story to support most of them and get you interested in it. I think that’s quite an accomplishment, a BL that is not only about the relationship (or sex) but what happens around it too.

Yamano Ayane has a really stylized art, not really uncommon but you can recognize it most of the times; always clean designs, elaborated backgrounds, beautiful characters, detailed clothes/hair, and nice facial expressions. Sometimes you would think that the characters look too “perfect”, with well defined muscles and no hair! I would call it sexy art. The sex scenes can be considered explicit, even when they might seem average most of the times; some feature BDSM, and others have very explicit details like blood. Besides there are some non consensual ones and pretty much all of them go straight to the point. The colored art is great by the way; the mangaka knows how to make really beautiful pieces and has improved significantly over the years, her art books are just great. The funny scenes, on the other hand, change the style a bit, making the characters look cuter.

The characters might seem kind of transparent at the beginning but they get more and more complex as the story progresses. You would think that Akihito is just a simple, cheerful and idealist brat while Asami is a ruthless yakuza boss that has to dominate everything and everyone, but there is even more to it than the eye meets, and that’s only perceived in subtle actions or expressions throughout the story. There are some parts, though, where I truly don’t understand Akihito’s behavior and wish he wasn’t so… Forgiving? Lustful? Makes one doubt about how unique is his relationship with Asami.

On an extra note, this couple is certainly not equally standing from what we can see; Asami would be top of the tops seriously! While Akihito keeps trying really hard to keep his manly pride in front of such a strong man. Besides, we mostly know about Akihito’s personality and just a bit of Asami’s, he doesn’t talk much and he has a lot of secrets; Akihito keeps wondering what’s behind that iron mask and is always trying hard to equal his strength, to surpass him. We will hopefully see more of this in future chapters.

Finder Series is a really exciting story about power, desire and a really complex relationship in a dangerous environment. If you like drama, sexy men with guns and elegant figures with a bit more spice in the explicitness area this should be one of your favorites. We even have a malicious super sexy longhaired Chinese nemesis that almost, just almost, equals Asami in power and presence. A lot of wicked characters and some that are not exactly what they look like.

I don't consider this a masterpiece, rather a must read in this genre, but I even have enjoyed re-reading parts of this story once in a while. It is great to find a manga that has more than two volumes and an interesting plot, besides the extra stories would make other nice mangas on their own; definitely looking forward to the rest of the trip, without a single clue about how these two will manage and how Akihito would grasp his mysterious partner’s heart.

Personally I have a long list of yaoi mangas I've dropped reading right in the beginning or somewhere midway because of their complete lack of plot. It doesn't matter if a manga has boatload of sex in it, if there's no plot nothing else counts! The finder series, I thought will come across as another disappointment but to my surprise the story had what I was looking for so long. A sensible -and- captivating plot, awesome characters, realistic art, plenty of sex and action; in other words everything you need to keep you hooked.

The series, as explained in synopsis, is about a young struggling ... photographer Akihito Takaba who gets caught up in a strange mess he would have never imagined in his wildest dreams when Ryuichi Asami, the big shot mafia businessman whom he was trying to expose, develops an interest in Akihito and leaves no stone unturned to win him over. Suddenly becoming (not yet gay but) uke of a sadistic man, Akihito was still trying to get a grasp of reality when Fei long shows up and makes things messier. Liu Fei Long, is another big shot in the mafia world, although more traditional in his ways, who has a history with Asami and decides to use Akihito as the tool to settle past scores.

I have to admit, I personally did not like Akihito, but neverthless he isn't the the usual stereotype wimpy or girly bottom type of guy that you come across in most BL mangas. His character is very convincing and believable, and so are most of others. The flow of story is also very good, with seldom any unwanted twists or turns.

Revealing much would be ruining the story, but all I can say is this is no regular lame sex with cherry on top yaoi manga, and so, for those BL fans who yearn for something more meaningful this is where you'll get it all. There's hardly any dull moment throughout. Just about right amount of sex, action, character development and a unique story is what makes Finder series one of its kind. A must read, I say!

One that leaves a great deal of fantasy for lovers of the Yaoi genre.

Story:

There is no better recipe than a combination of mafia+yaoi+romance+humor and this was what intrigued me to give this series a try.

When Takaba Akihito, a young ambitious freelance photographer, stepped onto the toes of dark and dangerous Asami Ryuuichi, the head of an influential Yakuza, he never thought it would change his life forever.

Akihito’s first sexual encounter was with Asami (poor fellow was basically adducted), and is a somewhat nasty and pure rape that corners around the likes of BDSM, punishment and submission. Yet, the fact that rape doesn’t immediately ... evolve into romance here adds a tinge of realism to the story and exhibits the insecurities the characters feel as they struggle to comprehend the realities of how they should feel as opposed to how they should act.

Throughout the series, I’m enticed by how Asami remains steadfast in his domineering and hardcore attitude towards Akihito to the stage of claiming him to be his possession. Also, the gradual transition of how Akihito eventually comes to terms with his feelings for Asami after a couple of life-changing events is convincing and makes it more compelling for readers to empathize with the characters.

Here, their outburst of emotions, anger and feelings are mainly let out through a series of sex and body thrusting exploits as they struggle to come to terms with each other.

That said, despite the overwhelming splatter of sex scenes, there is a gratifying degree of thought and depth in the storyline itself. Apart from dwelling into the struggles of romance between the same gender and dangers of the Yakuza world, the mangaka places a great deal of effort into developing the characters and giving life and depth to them – these were all that set this series apart from other Yaoi titles and make it a fulfilling read.


Characters:

The male protagonists are appealing in their own ways, with distinct personalities and charms. They are not just here to f*ck, but each has a story to tell, dark pasts they are struggling to forget as well as weaknesses they are trying to overcome.

I like how the mangaka portrays their personalities – you have Akihito, the stubborn, juvenile and yet thoughtful man coupled with the much matured, cool and composed Asami that sometimes appears sadistic and over-protective of Akihito.

The contrast between the characters is what made their interactions interesting and I like how through a series of events and adversities, they develop in terms of personality and come out stronger than they were yesterday.

Art:

I cannot complain anything about the artwork as I was awed at how beautifully the characters are drawn. The main characters are captivating you wish they were real in life, and their appearance perfectly match their personalities.

The sex scenes are drawn rather steamily and explicitly with a light tinge of bondage and sadism. There have been more than 40 chapters released so far and amusingly, NONE of the sex scenes appear repetitive – I wonder where the mangaka got her imagination from.


Overall:
Captivating storyline and substantial plot progress, checked.
Fantastic artwork, checked.
Promising character development, checked.

This series is essentially an all-in package readers would expect from a Yaoi title.

Unless you belong to the orthodox old school of thought, and are someone who obediently shuns anything so-called immorally mind-blowing which your school’s discipline master and mama would disapprove, this series is definitely worth the go.

As a 20+ adult, I really enjoy titles with lots of angst and BDSM elements. View Finder is a perfect mix of angst, kink and story line. I really love the push and pull dynamic between Asami and Takaba. The art is gorgeous, although the concept and writing could use some work.

One thing that worries me about recommending this series to others is that Viewfinder very much glorifies rape and calls it consensual (or, in fandom world dubcon). So keep that in mind if you're going to recommend this to others. The trigger warnings that should be applied are various and serious.

Viewfinder first of all is a yaoi and u know how most yaoi is rape and the boy who getting rape usually don't talk back or don't try to fight back that much,well this time the character Akihito trys too. what makes this yaoi soo cool is how spicy,smart ass, independent, funny and brave Akihito is. i love how first the story was kind of heartless but then soften up . No only love the story shows it also have adventure. the manga is kind of different from the usual yaoi and that's what make it exciting to read. ... ONE MORE THING THAT MAKES VIEWFINDER SOO AMAZING IS Asami, a powerful leader in Japan's underworld society SLASH Akihito rapper slash lover. He is possessive,bad ass, loving to his lover only,rich and some how these two meet lolzz . i love this manga sooo very much that i can read it 5 and more times and not get . THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR YAOI OUT RIGHT NOW.
