Since there weren't any reviews for this manga, I wanted to write one. ^.^
Please Note: I'm only focusing on the MAIN story. Not the added one shots.
Story: 7
It's kind of original. I've never read a story exactly like this, so I give Ouchi e Kaerou props for that. However, it's one of the typical shoujo manga plots.
Girl hates guy, guy hates girl, girl and guy have some kind of moment when they just 'click' , girl/guy falls for guy/girl almost immediately after (like that moment was when it basically 'unlocks' the guy/girl's hidden passion they never knew about), girl and guy gets together
...
(or they share another intimate moment), and they live happily ever after.
Some longer mangas go a bit more complex than that, but it's the same essential theme. Ouchi e Kaerou doesn't have a very complicated plot. It's just very simple and nice... which is expected for a story of this length.
Art: 10
The art is fabulous. Each character looks unique and very detailed, not to mention that the backgrounds are also just as captivating. It's very well drawn... so no complaints from me. Not to mention, Hana and Ken are really adorable!
Character: 8
There isn't much character development. I did read this knowing that there wouldn't be such drastic progressions, but it'd be nice to know a little bit more about their pasts.
For example, when Satomi was telling Keiko about his mother, it wasn't really a very.... emotional, heart-tugging, moment. Sure... it was very sweet, but not moving. He kind of just told it to her in a few sentences. I didn't feel all that much passion behind it.
You would think that if your mother left, you'd have a bit more reaction when you talk about her. -.-
There isn't much depth in the characters, but they did have potential. I mean, how did Keiko feel about taking care of her little brother constantly? Etcetera, etcetera...
Again, with this length, I wasn't expecting very much... so I was a bit loose when scoring this.
Enjoyment: 10
I honestly loved reading this story. It was a sweet little three-shot (with a few one-shots) that was entertaining and fun. If you'd just like a short little thing to cheer you up, this is the right manga for you. :)
Overall: 8
It's good. Nothing that I would shout out on the rooftops about, but it's good. Just a sweet little picker upper. Nonetheless, don't go in expecting too much from this story because you'll only be disappointed.Ouchi e Kaerou is a great manga to pass the time with, and it is very, very, sweet.
