The relationships of the characters in these josies are similar in the way they treat each other and ideas about marriage are a major theme. The couples start out where they don't like each other completely and tease each other. The couple in Hapi Mari have an arranged marriage, while the female lead in Totsuzen has her goal to get married before she meets the guy. They feature a career girl paired with a successful guy. The female leads are both in their twenties but have somewhat different personalities, with the girl in Totsuzen being more outspoken. In both series, the concept of marriage is a prominent theme. The main female protagonist gets involved in an affair that begins with a rocky relationship. However, the connection between the two lead characters grows with each chapter. Both series also has a fair amount of realism such as the characters' occupations. Also, expect some mature content as the story progresses.
