Well, at first I was kind of confused about the point of view. I didn't know what to expect from the manga. I actually thought the bird would fall in love with the girl. And that was quite. . . .disturbing. So when I realized that he was just telling the love story of the girl, I was relieved and at the same time very amused. Kayana's love story was rather cute. Even though she was the complete opposite of Aise and people think they don't suit each other, they fell in love! The story plot was rather cliche but told from Sendrick's/Chunta's point of ... view, it became original. It was nice that Kayana was able to change Sendrick's view of humans and I loved the treasure he gave her.

It was a very short but touching story of friendship and love. If you're interested in something a little different from the norm, this is a one-shot worth reading! :D

When I looked at the cover I saw the sparrow. =.=

Then I thought it would be like a girls' story with a pet sparrow or a sparrow that met an oh so nice girl and made friends with her or something like that...
and it was =.=; and surprisingly (since I read it anyway) I enjoyed it. o.o

I'm not particulary picky with the art, I sort of respect their drawing style and more often praise it rather than judge it. So anyway, the starting was a bit dragging but when you get into the story it starts to reveal it's "story", kinda like a ... story in a story. It has romance and a bit of drama, the two parts that I liked the most. Sure the romance was about "bad girl- image- but- is- good- deep- inside type of story but it was enough for me to hang in there ^^

Regardless of the character's profile, the story was quite original.

The ending was just fit for the story plot. No wanting- a- part 2 feeling or anything. I was satisfied and in the process enjoyed it a well. ^^

What surprised me in this manga was the point of view! At first, I thought it will be some weird animal/demon-turning-in-human-for-love manga which I have seen but when I understood that the sparrow will only be the story teller, I was amazed and very pleased!
For a moment, I thought that the things were a bit rushed (Around the middle) but it smoothed out very nicely. I am not the fan of this typical shouju manga art, I prefer more realistic one but otherwise, it is coolest one-shot I have ever read lately.
If you're looking for original manga with sweet romance and are not against one-shots ... then By Hero is manga you will find enjoyable.
