TL;DR misogyny, transphobia, terrible story
I love the Wizardry series. It's a nice 3D Dungeon RPG from the 80s that even today has only gotten graphical updates. A software created in the 80s and then adopted by Japan.
This story however has little to do with Wizardry even though it's supposed to be in the "Wizardry Renaissance" universe. We have our OP male main character, who can't ever be defeated once her pull out his sword. The healer who... is out of the picture when the fighting starts, a male ninja who of course has a soft spot for women and another ninja who... really does more
...
support than fighting.
The story is dragged down by the gross sexist portrayal of all the women and the sexualizing art of them. It even has transphobia come via the way of the Hassanot arc. It's not like the former 80s Wizardry manga which took a serious art. They all have to be saved at some point because of course they do. They are only really there to pander to men, which derails whatever story we have going on. Which I am to assume is Zeo trying to find his master BUT... once again, let's pause the story for some porn.
The story itself is weak as Zeo is a "summoner" one who contracts with demons and is supposed to be shunned and... that only sort of happens once. Also people die for good. In Wizardry you have two shots to be revived. It's some the OVA actually mentions (but of course it fails because story). Here it's ignored. That could have been a side plot to find a priest with a high enough resurrection record to bring back the dead friends. That would have been a better plot that this
This story doesn't feel like a Wizardry story at all. Much like Monster Hunter Orage doesn't feel like a MonHun story.
Really this story is a lot of nothing and it doesn't feel like there is any progression. Also it's not fully scanlated so you son't get to whatever payoff there is. If there even really is one.
