When people think of shounen anime and manga they will undoubtedly think of stories that follow the typical format of never giving up and believing in your friends. Along the way the main characters in these tales may gain various abilities that make them insanely powerful, or gather a bevy of beauties, all of whom have some illogical desire to be with the main character.

There are, however, a few that attempt to do something a little different. The first anime adaptation of Full Metal Alchemist, for example, took a much darker turn than one might normally expect in a shounen tale. Likewise Akira followed its ...

My first encounter with Chrno Crusade was when the anime was still airing. I ended up gripped by it - following it weekly - until the tragic (yet satisfying) conclusion. And whilst I did not give it top marks due to its rushed Gonzo 'original story' second half, it did impress and move me.
Until last month, this was the end of myself and Chrno Crusade ('CC' from this point onwards) since I had not started reading manga until long after my memories of the anime had faded away. However, I saw an auction for the complete series and, since I have always wanted to see ...

I have a lot I want to say about Daisuke Moriyama's Manga Chrono Crusade. One of which is that it is one of the BEST Mangas I've read to date. I'll also go as far to say that its much better than its Anime counter part.

I'm getting ahead of myself here so I go back to how I was first introduced to Chrono Crusade. A good friend of mine told me about this series and said it was one of his favorites, so I was interest but I watched the Anime first. The Anime for Chrono Crusade was pretty ...

This is mainly a review of Volume 8.

After Volume 7 ended on one hell of a cliffhanger, I knew it was going to be difficult to wait until I had a chance to read the final volume, so I picked the very first opportunity I had. In an earlier review I listed Volume 6 as the best of all the series so far, and now I can say Volume 8 ranks right up there with it.

It would be kind of pointless to go over the story at this point; if you don't know what Chrno Crusade is all about, you need to go back and ...

You know, one day in my local library a few years back, I picked up the first book of this manga and began reading. I quickly got hooked but had to stop at book three- my library didn't have the others! Over the years I forgot about this series, remembering having read some, but nont remembering what it was about. A few days ago, I picked this series back up, looking for a good read.

I was not disappointed.

Chrno Crusade is the best manga I have ever read, and I have read plenty. Now, If you're looking for a heart wrenching story that will make you ...

i tend to be lax when critiquing all but my own work, but this is a series that will stay with me all my life. it connects good and bad in a driving force to save, not humanity, but deamonkind. at first it may seem bouncy but everything has a purpose. the end was a little dissatisfying, but it definitly leavs room for a sequal series. or even a prequel. anyway the art was awesomn!!!

Chrono Crusade: 9/10

Definitely a series I don't hear being mentioned enough nowadays. I found out about Chrono Crusade (also known as Chrno Crusade) by picking up the complete anime box set at a Half Price Books for about $15. I got super invested in the story and after about 7 episodes I got into other series that unfortunately took priority. A couple months later I bought volumes 3-7 at the same Half Price Books and then 1 and 2 on amazon, hoping to finally get through this series. (Plus it was dirt cheap... I finally got volume 8. Currently, it's going for wayyyy too much ...

Honestly speaking, I didn't find the work very exciting, and I also believe it suffers from a lack of originality. The characters often use the typical phrases from the series, like "Once again, I couldn't achieve anything" or "I don't want to burden anyone anymore; I want to become stronger." Even the dynamics concerning the relationships between the characters follow well-worn patterns, such as the character seeking revenge who eventually befriends one of the protagonists after realizing a misunderstanding, or the character struggling to express and understand human emotions, learning to do so thanks to another character. All of this, of course, happens without any ...
