These two manga deal with show biz in Japan. Both protagonists are not your usual everyday talent and actually enter the show biz for other people (skip beat for revenge and akb49 to help). Both give a similar feel even though the storylines differ greatly. hope you enjoy both.

Both show insights to the life of idols and their hardships they encounter and their motivations to become idols despite those. Shady business behind the scenes is also a theme. Oshi no Ko also shows other parts of showbiz (reality TV, child acting careers, etc.), while AKB49 solely focuses on the jpop idol group AKB48.

both about guyz who because of different situations turn to cross-dressing in front of others and perform in front of a live audience whilst deceiving the whole world keeping their real gender a secret. one one had coda is a 16 chapter manga which is nice, sweet, short and detailed very good read and I personally wish it had a sequel to it. Now on the other hand we have AKB49 longer obviously longer has alot of interesting arcs art is amazing too and is more upbeat plus it doest have yuri or yaoi elements either way both are simply amazing and both must be read  read more

I hope to god that I chose the right version of the E21 manga, If I accidentally chose the Oneshot version instead just know I'm reccomending the full manga. Now at first glance AKB49 and E21 have absolutely nothing in common. AKB49 is a idol manga full of fanservice and cute girls singing and dancing while E21 is a sports manga full of sweaty boys fondling balls. But after rereading the two I noticed some similarities. Minori/Minoru for example reminded me alot of Sena, with him not having any sort of interest in the Idol business until trying it out and going through all the hardship that  read more

Bakuman and AKB49 are set in completely different environments, one being in the Idol world and another in the world of manga publishing, but what the two have in common is a pair of protagonists with impossible dreams they want to achieve, and working themselves to death to achieve them. Both series take place over several years and show the challenges they face in their respective industries and they charge head on to achieve their ambitions to become the best.

Weekly Shounen Jump and Shounen Magazine are probably the two most dominant manga companies today and these two series are very similar in the way they tell their stories. AKB is based on the real life idol group AKB48 and a main protagonists who cross dresses so he can participate in auditions to help his love interest while Shokugeki no Souma is about a boy who tries to meet his fathers expectations by going to a top class chef school and becoming the best chef there. The art styles are very similar and alot of the panels are dedicated to tiny detail things like ingredients  read more

The main characters in each series unintentional become part of the entertainment industry only later to fall in love with each. They each go through the ups and downs involved with becoming a success. Haruka 17 features a hidden beauty and deals with modeling while AKB49 features a male who cross-dresses as a girl and deals with idols.

While a first look wouldn't give you much to set the two in anywhere near the same realm, the drive to succeed in something that seems mostly foreign to the main character can be found in both. And while you can't find the overflow of cute girls in 3.3.7 as much as you can in AKB49 there is just as much comedy and drive to pull you in to something you never thought would strike a chord with you!

Gender-benders where a guy is pretending to be a girl.

While approaching the situation with very different character sets, both feature main characters striving to succeed as idols and the hardships that go along with it.

Both feature guys performing incognito as girls on stage while in AKB49 it is a secret, Josei Danshi features knowing it as a primary plot tool.

A guy caught up in the idol world. AKB more focused on the guy cross dressing as a girl idol in order to help the girl he likes Hime focused on a guy trying to help a yankee girl turn into an idol, a bit more light hearted than AKB

The premise of both series involves performing as a prominent theme. Although they take different approaches at storytelling, their expression has a similar feel. Both series' main male protagonist gets involved with an activity that tests the limits of their skills. Throughout the story, they encounter skilled competitors as well as interpersonal problems that brings the best of their character. There is also subtle romance that develops as character relationship also becomes a focus. Akb49 presents mostly singing while Sesuji wo Pin! involves dancing.

If you are looking for manga where the MC is keeping a big secret then both stories have it. Basically both stories have similar start where a guy really likes a girl and ends up in a new place because of her. But some circumstances make it so that they have to keep a "secret" if they want to continue with their "new life".
