Going in, the story seems solid, characters seem to be typical shoujo but with a slight twist as our MC (Maria) has extreme awareness to people's true feelings, so it causes scenarios where characters actually need to face their flaws. personally for me, it's halfway through which starts going downhill from there. Below I'm going to write one without spoilers and one with that actually detail what's very wrong with the direction the manga goes in (again this is my opinion but I feel as if it's misleading and is looked past).

This story really reminds me of Usagi Drop, just for the way that the ending butchers my enjoyment fo the entire series.
Without going into to much of spoiler territory, though this is about the last arcs, I won't mention character's names. However, by the end of the manga, the amount of rape apologists themes and excuses is very insulting and disheartening. I can't tell you how I felt in the last arcs, as it was like a punch to the gut and to the heart. It was like a betrayal. If you are a victim of sexual abuse I would skip this story, at least ... I remember enjoying this manga when I found it on a site (that was probably manga reader dot com) at least 10 years ago, but ended up having to not know how it would end because it was still ongoing. But boy oh boy, have I grown way out of the target demograph of readers.
The main character is very blunt, and gets pretty much immediately bullied at the new school she transferred to. On one hand, yes, it's rude in certain cases, but it was very superficial in my opinion. And it is the same with the side characters/love interests, too. ESPECIALLY, the "main" ... |
