Synopsis

Taking shelter from the rain, Suh Rin goes into a little cafe called Cafe Occult. Soon after leaving the cafe, she is hit by a car, and then a strange man pulls her down an alleyway. She is saved by a young man, and he takes her back to the cafe. There her fears are confirmed; she was killed by the car, and has now become a spirit. Cafe Occult, the Master, its 'errand boy' Young, are all mysteriously connected to both the world of the living and the spirit world. Suh Rin's spirit is wanted for a reason unknown, and only Young and his special bullets can keep her from their grasp.

Background

Cafe Occult was partially published in English by Infinity Studios, who published the first two volumes from March 9, 2005 to January 18, 2006, as well as volume three as an e-book. The publisher has since become defunct.

Cafe Occult is a Korean comic, or manhwa if you prefer, about a cafe where both the human and the spirit world connect. It may not have that intense feeling but the plot and all the twists are very interesting. Ahn No-Uhn's art is very similar to those of your typical manga, but creating a totally different atmosphere. The character development is great too, but I can't really explain why because I might spoil the story and the plot. It has a unique story and I'd recommend it as it is a nice relaxing comic to read, with only 6 volumes.

Mixed Feelings
Spoiler
Ok so that story was a little strange.
It had a lot of good qualities in my opinion, like some nice characters, interesting twists and nice art. The biggest problem I believe is it introducing too many characters, battle mechanics and ranks that may not come back into the story consistently enough to remember. For a lot of the things in the story, we didn't get an explanation until the middle of vol.5. It mentioned a lot of different organizations with their own motivations and plans and after some point it became confusing to follow and unpleasant because I didn't underestand the plot. All that information ...
