Synopsis

Eighteen years ago, during the Seitei War, Kunishige Rokuhira was the most renowned man in Japan. As a master swordsmith, he forged six enchanted blades, each imbued with a special power that secured the nation's victory. After the war, Kunishige retired to the mountains with his son, Chihiro, who began diligently learning the craft. Nearing his 15th birthday, the level-headed Chihiro resolved to one day succeed his father. However, his plans were derailed when he witnessed a group of powerful sorcerers kill his father and steal the sacred blades.

Three years after the incident, Chihiro lives on with hatred in his heart and an intense desire for revenge. Wielding the Enten, the seventh and final enchanted blade Kunishige created in secret, Chihiro cuts down evildoers associated with the Hishaku—the organization he believes to be responsible for his father's death. Chihiro has yet to unlock the Enten's full potential or perfect his swordsmanship, but he will stop at nothing to retrieve the stolen katanas, avenge his father, and honor the legacy he left behind.

Background

Kagurabachi ranked sixth in the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! in the Male Readers division. In the same year, it ranked first in the Best Printed Manga category at the 10th Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards. The manga was nominated for the 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2025.

The series has been simulpub digitally in English through MANGA Plus. The volumes have been published by VIZ Media under the Shonen Jump imprint since November 5, 2024. It has also been released in Italian by Edizioni Star Comics since March 18, 2025.

Kagurabachi is the greatest piece of fiction to ever come into existence in the history of reality itself. Kagurabachi has transcended the concept of being peak and is above all subjective and objective ratings, it is not possible to accurately describe kagurabachi using human words or emotions.

But in all seriousness Kagurabachi is the newest shounen jump series that has received unbelievable hype among english speaking fans. Let's put memes aside, Kagurabachi is just ok, but it has potential.

Kagurabachi is, for now, solid manga. We got bit of world building, bit of power system and important characters for the story and main goal for MC. But it didn't do anything groundbreaking.

Art isn't really detailed and some faces look bit bland, but few action panels look good. Characters are ok, bit plain but manga is still new so it's excusable. Power system is combination of jujutsu kaisen and demon slayer. But I have a felling that it brings nothing new to the table. If it doesn't make itself stand out it might ...

Manga like this are not just trash, they hurt the entire medium. They make readers and future authors think bad writing and ripping off is fine as long as you get away with sales. It insults the work ethic and creativity of every fellow mangaka who actually put effort in how to write, draw, and tell a story. It’s dangerous for the future of manga because it proves any trash these days can be published because WSJ is in serious lack of talent.
