Well no one has reviewed this so I thought I would go ahead and be the first. This is a very bizarre concept for a manga, but if you accept it and just read it you will find it is actually quite good. It is impossible to give a manga a true score after only one chapter, but this has a lot of potential. This and Blue Box are restoring my faith in shonen jump.
Power system is unique and fun, art is beautiful, and MCs are both likeable.
I am excited to see where this goes! Go check it out

CHPTER 1 REVIEW (This can change during the next few chapters)
Whiteout tackling into too much spoilers I can begin by saying that this was a very odd concept for shonen jump but it was taken in a really well direction for the first chapter; Also in the first 57 pages we get a good understanding of the characters without knowing there back storys. As for the action it is very shonen but with a selection of mouth watering weapons that can really satisfy you when the fight is over. I hope it can stay on the path it started and make it in shonen jump ... Apr 11, 2023
SUGAR! SPICE! AND EVERYTHING... already done before.
What seemed like a unique story with an interesting world quickly became the standard shonen plot with nothing too original after the first chapters. The standard shonen plot isn't necessarily bad but with such a unique setup there should've been something done with it, and it doesn't even have a fun standard shonen plot, just a boring one Can't blame the ending for being bad, it was obviously rushed due to its cancellation. Feel like it could've been a better than what feels like a parody. ... Apr 19, 2021
1st Chapter Review!!!
Can't say a lot for the first chapter, i did enjoy it, its easy to understand of what is going on, we have this one candy that if you ate it you gain power. At first i thought this manga was wacky but i sat through and read the 1st chapter and surprisingly caught my attention. For this 1st chapter we have 57 page where they fit and explain the world, that weird candy and how it start. And for the ART it looks pretty dang good and now I'm looking forward for the future chapter and whats gonna happen next. I like the ... Sep 1, 2021
One of the more lesser known series within Shonen Jump, Candy Flurry is a fun, lighthearted series that is enjoyable at first glance but gets repetitive and even boring as it progresses
The story is relatively simple and straightforward, with the power measurements of the series being akin to One Piece's devil fruits and filled with a balance of lighthearted comedy and some dark aspects in the story. Unfortunately the story leaves much t be desired in which the main goal seems to simply find out the identity of the potential main antagonist while keeping Tsugumi's powers hidden from the rest of the world. Unfortunately the ... Oct 6, 2021

If you want something short to read and about candy and love for sweets in the center of Tokyo this is good for you. It's digital only and it's only 19 chapters. Also, read it if you like an organization of people with good sweet users fighting bad sweet /junk food users. The bad sweet users aka a specific lollipop user is the reason why Tokyo hates sweet users and ostracizes them or puts them in the recette organization to fight. There is not much of anything else to say because I do not want to spoil it too much ... Jun 6, 2021
This manga is trash.
Don't be fooled by the seemingly unique power system. The author doesn't know how to use what he created himself, you expect a battle shonen with unique powers, but all you'll get is the same "my punch is stronger", only worse. There is practically no worldbuilding, the little the author has built is full of holes, in each chapter you will find yourself asking questions you shouldn't ask. The author managed to create a generic, empty and broken world. The characters are not just generic, but poorly made, their motivations are comically artificial, in fact, even the author doesn't seem to take it seriously ... Jul 4, 2021
Why is this rated so low? I mean, I wouldn't say its a masterpiece or anything, but the characters all all very funny and unique- just like the concept in general. I won't say more, but this is definitely worth the read!
Well, it appears I must write more to post this, so here's a more in depth review: The characters are probably the main selling point here. I can't remember any of their names, but I like how childish and fun they all are. If you're not into slightly immature characters, though, this isn't for you. The story is sub par. Then again, I'm writing this ... Sep 13, 2021
So yesterday, the manga reached an abrupt end at chapter 19 leaving a bitter taste in my mouth despite the cartoony, candy aesthetic of the series. While the series was never great, I found it to be at least humorous with it's unique, candy themed superpowers. Unfortunately, the final battle lasted only two chapters with an incredibly underdeveloped main villain. The entire premise obviously tried to hype him up as one of the single most powerful sweets users in the world, yet he's defeated almost as soon as he's introduced, without as much of a backstory. There were many side characters that did not

Everyone loves candy, right?
Well, maybe not so much in this world. I’ve seen a good amount of absurd, crazy, out-there power systems in my tenure with anime & manga, but giant weaponized candy is an absurd one I never really considered all too much. And I think that idea represents Ame no Furu [Candy Flurry] quite well: absurd. From the characters, powers, situations, gags, and even the base concept of most ideas, it’s an all-around absurd manga; yet I feel it works quite well. Fitting a shounen series, the fights have a great emphasis in the series, and, as mentioned before, one of Candy Flurry’s greatest ... Jan 13, 2022
“If you’re going to be reckless, then I guess I’ll just have to follow your lead.”
- Midori Misaki, Chapter 19 When taken at face value, Candy Flurry could be best described as average. The art style is clean and easy to read, the story has potential, and the characters are fairly well developed. These elements make it a good read, but it feels more like a pastiche of other Shōnen Jump titles rather than being its own entity. However, it definitely showed that it had the potential to become something more if it had been given more time. The core concept of Candy Flurry is ... Apr 20, 2021
Ame no Furu (or Candy Flurry) is a rather bizarre yet interesting concept. The main character has quite a strange personality which makes her amazing for such a bizarre anime. This manga shows promise and has quite a lot of potential, yet unfortunately, the first chapter hasn't quite reached even half of its possible potential. The execution is alright at best. The two main characters feel well established and they aren't the problem. Unlike most Shonen out there, the power scaling in Candy Flurry is balanced and unique. This may be a bit too early for a review as only the first chapter has

Overall a very enjoyable series. While I found the premise and setting to be interesting at first I don't feel that it was executed all that well and I ended up not caring too much about it.
But that didn't matter too much because the character writing and dialogue was superb. This series had some of the must unique humor I've seen in a manga or anime. I really wish I didn't have to simply describe it as "meta" or a "deconstruction" of tropes, because it really doesn't do it justice. Just very creative joke writing and witty dialogue. I LOVED the main character. Tsumugi was ... Sep 13, 2021
7/10 Gone WAY too soon.
Candy Flurry was a weird manga, like, REALLY WEIRD. It was your basic shonen trope of "one day the world suddenly got powers" but the powers are Candy. This, however, makes for a really cool and interesting world that could've had so much potential. BUT, it ended. So that's that. There are no demons, ghosts, no magical/mystical/mythical beings etc. like a lot of other popular manga seem to have. But that doesn't matter. This is about candy. This was such a unique vision. It's a surprise that this wasn't more popular. I loved the characters, though they were very two dimensional, they were ... Sep 14, 2021
Ame no Furu is a manga with an interesting concept yet fails to support said concept to its fullest extent. It was ended early, but still maintained a satisfying, albeit rushed, ending.
Story: 7/10 The story is fine. The overarching plot of the manga was clearly layed out and there weren't too many side stories to take away from it. It's only a 7, though, because the story relied very heavily on the gimmick without really building the world enough. Art: 6/10 The art is passable, but not great. It gets the job done but doesn't do anything to shock or inspire the reader. Character: 7/10 I liked how most of ... Jan 29, 2022
It's a good manga, with good characters and an initially fun idea. the visuals are nice and the plot has a parody style with a lot of comedy in moments that should be drama or tragedy. I don't think that's bad, it's the style of the story and it fits more with the idea of sweets as superpowers, in addition to making everything unpredictable and surprising us a lot. There are jokes that even make us stop and question various clichés in shounens. It's a good manga to read, very light and quiet, a shame it was cancelled, it had potential, but because it didn't

Short and sweet
Candy Flurry feels like Jungle Juice meets Boku no Hero Academia. The main theme is having about your own outlooks and views on life and staying true to them while understanding conflicting view points without shutting them out, I'm over simplifying it by a bit and I'm very baked but idk it feels that way to me. The arcs, if you can even call them that, are so fast paced they don't really qualify as arcs but they're enjoyable nonetheless. I mainly read this to see how far the sweets themed powers would go and honestly I'm disappointed. I would recommend it though it's ... |
