Synopsis

Every 40 years, there will be a Gathering of Human Kids, whom will take part in a mysterious Game "Bakegyamon," created by the Hell Master. There is a rumor... when the final winner emerges, the child will receive a wish.

Because of that rumor, lots of active kids, will like to start an Expedition! What will happen to them, in this mysterious game?

Bakegyamon is a hidden gem that most people have never heard about and will never hear about due to its scarcity both online and physically, which is a shame given its quality. It's a shonen inspired by different manga like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, but it isn't derivative of them.

Bakegyamon manages to carve out its own identity among the "Creature Battling" sub-genre of shonen with a very enjoyable story.

The characters of the story have multiple dimensions with layers onto why they compete to win Bakegyamon, ranging from curing terminal illnesses to having a field, and you can't help but love each of them. ...

Bakegyamon is a standard card battle manga that elevates itself with fun monster designs with unique powers as well as interesting gimmicks for "games" in the Bakegyamon tournament that the manga is based around.

I highly recommend this to people who are already interested in card-battle manga/anime like Yu-Gi-Oh and to readers who are neutral on this style of manga.

The manga has some glaring flaws, the story fumbles slightly in the end (mostly in volume 5) with a rushed, kind-of generic and slightly confusing conclusion. A weakness of the manga is the characters, Sanshiro is kind of a generic shounen manga hero type with ...
