"Oh brave one, collect the Seven Orbs scattered across the world, and thy wish shall be granted." Hmm, feels like I've heard something similar before??? Maybe it's just my imagination...
Story: A princess is traveling the world in search of 7 orbs, if she gathers them all, she will have one wish granted. As if that parody plot line wasn't enough, there is a huge problem with the "romance". The protagonist tells the princess that he will help her find the Dragon Balls if she gives him an successor. And being a 1000 year old virgin, the protagonist is so stupid he did not realize what
...
he just implied. So the story is full of misunderstandings. The princess thinks the protagonist wants to have a child with her, and the protagonist thinks he is getting an orphan to adopt. It's hard to even explain how far the author take this "oblivious humor".
Best of all is that the combat is usually written like a sci-fi battle. Lasers, high-pressure air guns, vaporizing beams that hit only metal. It's not simply !BONK! *a shovel hit on the head*. Not like that, ever. So, it's a story about shovels that are used as magic wands, more or less.
Art: Hmm, the art for this story is both very good and pretty average. The female character designs are nice, the Princess is "drop-dead gorgeous". The female knight is a cool-beauty. The elf is sexy etc. If you like "anime girls", you will probably enjoy the illustrations here. If you're over that phase in your life and you want art rather than sex-appeal, then you are out of luck. Personally, I'm tired of the stereotypical 2D fantasy girls.
Overall. If you like parodies, shovel puns, and sexy ladies, this is a story for you. Even though there is so many generic plot-lines mashed up into one story, it's not bad. It might be based on "generic ideas", but its execution is good-ish. The princess is funny, not as funny as Aqua, but still funny. Plenty of fan-service and a harem-in-progress. Do you like fantasy light novels? If so, you might like this one.
BUT do not underestimate how oblivious the Main Character is. Seriously.
