Before getting into my review, I have to note that since writing my initial review Kaette kudasai! Akutsu-san has surpassed 100 chapters. A lot has changed in that time, making it a lot more fun of a read. I'll leave my below review unchanged since I still think it reflects the first half of the series well, but I do want to say to any potential readers that the series secures it's footing a lot more as it goes. It doesn't fix all of its problems, but it securely changes my 5/10 rating into a high 6/10. I'm much more likely to recommend it now ... if you are willing to get over the initial slump. Thankfully, the chapters are super short so doing that is relatively easy.

All things considered, I think this manga's biggest weakness is in how short the chapters are. I feel like the concept is interesting enough, but the way it's executed basically is slapping you in the face with missed potential. Every chapter some form of progress is made, but right before the interesting part of the conversation would likely occur the chapter cuts off and is completely ignored by the time the next one rolls around.

The characters are pretty generic and shallow and the actual investment I have in them getting together is about none. You can tell it will likely not happen till the manga ends due to the fact that there isn't a major supporting cast (or one at all) for them to bounce off with with a new "dating dynamic." Because of this it becomes obvious that the whole manga is just going to be a loop of the characters running around in circles till it ends.

The art is mediocre, the concept has potential yet is pretty generic, and the characters are nothing worthwhile. The only reason I find myself reading it whenever a new chapter comes out is because they are short and easily digestible. Just read Nagatoro or Yancha Gal no Anjou-san if you want something like this, but actually good. No need to waste your time

Yeah this one is real mediocre, I generally wouldn't recommend getting into it unless you enjoy horny content.

The art is good and the characters play well off each other, but it just drags on for way too long, even after it gets straight up unrealistic. I mean, they do everything short of straight up kiss and somehow still don't progress at all in their relationship for 100 chapters. Mind you, the chapters are very short, but still, it's just ridiculous.

I kept going due to a vague hope that this would change. Every chapter it seems like, FINALLY, after this something has to happen, but next ... chapter it's back to basically normal every single time.

So yeah, I'm not going to follow this one any further. The fan service was too much and it was already looking to be going nowhere, and I just don't have patience for it any longer. Feel free to check it out if you're into the whole fanservice teasing romcom thing.

Stay away if you want any actual romantic progress.

I bet quite a few people have commented on this, but the length of chapters and they content they have to offer is probably the main limiting factor for this manga, asides from the shallowness present amongst both the protagonist and Akutsu.

Forewarning: if you're looking for in-depth, complex literature with evolving characters and scenarios, I'd turn that mental switch off and enjoy it as a story dependent on a continuous gag.

But with that said, at least this manga does at least have some romantic progression; this becomes more apparent the longer Akutsu spends around the main character.

Honestly, as far as interpersonal progression goes, it's pretty ... palatable. But in terms of any action outside of the MC's room, there really ain't much to go off of. Sure, there's a couple references to Akutsu's outside life that tie into the plot directly, like when she's failing school as a lazy delinquent or when she runs away from home; however, if you compare it to a vaguely similar manga like Nagatoro that also shares a similar gag, it's pretty clear that this story's scope is far too limited.

As for the art, I didn't find much issue with it. It's not bad at all, and if anything, I really like Akutsu's character design.

But overall, if you liked Nagatoro and can take it with a grain of salt, this is a good little read; you'll probably fly through those 61 chapters (at this time of writing).

Since it's still serializing to my knowledge, it'll be interesting to see where the author wants to take this. Only time can tell.

Preemptive TL:DR: very good or extremely bad, depending on your tastes. Like simple romance manga? Give this a try. Don't like repetitive plot points? Better pretend you were never here.

It's classic romance manga where the male and female lead for no particular reason are extremely drawn to one another. The attraction not having a good reason is very forgivable in my opinion — if you're reading a story about a delinquent who randomly starts hanging out at a random guy's house 24/7, you shouldn't expect fully realistic romantic development.

Once the premise is well established slowly the romance does develop. Most of the short chapters lead ... up to a single embarrassing moment which can get old, but depending on your taste it can also be cute or funny. Overall the story does progress and in my opinion has enough entertaining plot points or characters to be worth reading.

Until chapter ~130 I would give the manga an 8 or so, it's entertaining enough for my tastes. However, at some point repeating the same thing in a different form does get old. They've implied or outright said they love each other ~40 times right now, yet the guy is still oblivious and the girl somehow can't just ask him out.

I'm currently at 171 chapters. Before they started almost confessing every other chapter I liked the story quite a bit, but by now it's become too repetitive even for my tastes. Still, if you can handle some forced situations and enjoy simple romance this is definitely worth checking out.

Considering the length of its releases and the slow, episodic pace, it is very difficult to get into as the characters generally have zero development for the first 30-40 chapters. Even after some development, the next ones still take as long as the previous. For the first half of Akutsu-san, it mostly focuses on romantic subtexts and ero but as I mentioned earlier there will be some development and character changes and I find that the low character-count really compliments well with this. The second half, I'd say, focuses more on the romantic aspect with less subtexts and more actual romantic tropes. I'm also a ... big fan of the Sadodere to Tsundere transition that the FMC goes through.

The negatives for me are the artstyle and the insanely slow pacing. Each chapter is about five pages long so it is to be expected and the artstyle is, without sugarcoating, not the best. If these are stuff that turns you off, this might not be one for you but as one who suffered through its bad parts, I can safely say it was worth it. It's still slow even on the later stages but slow character developments are still better than none.

I really just can't get into the micro chapters. Eight chapters in and I feel like I still have no idea where this story is going since I only know the bare minimum about the two characters in this story. The 4 page chapters don't really lend to a long format reading since it always goes nowhere. Am I supposed to read 1 chapter a day to avoid burnout? Any other manga and I would have given it one or two chapters, but for this manga that's 4 pages. So am I supposed to read 20 chapters before I call it good or not? The ... first volume alone has 27 chapters so who knows. Maybe the formatting just isn't my thing and it turns into gold later, I don't know. I'd much rather read something like Nagatoro where the chapters can fit a reasonable arc even if it still takes forever to actually go anywhere.
