Two high school students who are worlds apart -- the school's hoops star and the president of the science club -- secretly decide to audition for their school's musical, a decision that turns both their world and their school upside down.
A new manga based off of the popular Disney movie-musical, High School Musical.
Disney has Kingdom Hearts and W.I.T.C.H. wich are both great series, but that's as close to the world of Manga they should've gotten, and High School Musical: The Manga proves it.
It's an overused load of BS story that was already a corporately-whored out ripoff of another series (Grease, wich was GREAT) that tells the tale of a bunch of fairytale endings in High School. I'm gonna put this out now by saying that I'm in High School right now, and it's NOTHING like this BS. Hell, Rosario+Vampire is a more accurate depiction of High School life than this load of crap is.
I'll be fair though,
it was drawn fairly decently. It doesn't make up for the fact that it's unreadable, though.
If you somehow find this on your shelf, you'dve better have gotten it on a bet, because otherwise you completely fail at all types of life. I wouldn't even torture your poor computer through reading it or downloading it online. It's that bad.
What do you get when you mix a fairly decent mangaka who's out of ideas and Disney - who now wants to become international with no avail? You get High School Musical! The manga. Yay! No, I'm kidding. It was dreadful.
Story: It was absolutely pathetic. I hated HSM when it was a stupid kids' movie, so I'm not exactly sure why I was drawn to the manga. I read 1 chapter, and I could already tell the score would be the same amount of chapters I read. Which was close to 0. Everything in the first chapter was rushed and the timing was horrible.
Given, this was not the mangaka's actual plot, so I can't say I hate her just yet...
Art: The art was pretty good, to be honest. I gave it a fair 6. Hey, anyone who can make a guy with the bushiest hair I have ever seen in my life look good, is amazing in my standards.
Character: Dreadful. They're all perfect little teenagers who think they have it bad because of some relationships flaw. Oh puh-lease. Given, the character development is a 2.
Enjoyment: Too bad they don't have any score lower than a 1.
Overall: It was just terrible. A 1, obviously. I truly hated it, and I should've never started reading it. The only good aspect was the cute art. But don't let this manga that should have never been created let you ignore the mangaka's other works. I've read some of her other shoujo mangas - and they were pretty good.
Ah, High School Musical. I remember when my sister used to watch this godlike masterpiece. The characters are so interesting and it's so well written. I was ecstatic when I heard of a manga adaptation being released, and boy did it live up to my expectations.
Story - 10
The story consists of a boy named Troy winning a basketball game. A BASKETBALL GAME. That is no little feat, my friends. It takes years and years of training to be able to win a basketball game. Subsequently, he gets accepted into a UNIVERSITY. That is amazing. Troy-San is so smart. The mangaka clearly put a lot of
work into crafting this deep and complex storyline. This amazing plot made me weep in pleasure.
Art - 10
The art is amazing, those noses literally made my own nose bleed. I could stare at a panel of this ALL DAY and never be bored. There is so much detail into every little space on the page. I'm beginning to question how the mangaka has this much talent. Every little line, is a story of its own.
Characters - 10
Troy is the main character. He is so extremely well developed. If he smiles, I smiles. It's like we're... Linked with each other. Then there's this other girl, forgot her name, that loves Troy of something. The romance and love she has for him is so well put together. Troy is a hero for winning the basketball game and thus he deserves a girl of his own. 10/10.
Enjoyment - 10
Fuck I enjoyed this. What a testosterone filled adventure this was. The complex, deep, dark and mysterious plot and story telling, the dazzling art that surpasses many other one shot manga series, the unique characters that have infinite substance, they all add up to immense entertainment.
Overall - 10
I highly recommend you to watch this, it is an experience no one can miss. Strong story? Check. Deep characters? Check. Wonderful art? Check. This anime has it all. It is a masterpiece, words cannot explain how great this anime is. Review is finished.
I also highly recommend you to get help if you took this review seriously.
This was dreadful, I wasted my time reading this. There was no actual story and there were only two characters. The movies were better than this!
It was pathetic! The artist really killed her career, I don't know why anyone would make a High School Musical manga.
The art was okay, it was too sparkly for High School Musical. Since the movie was supposed to appeal to all genders and young children around the ages 6-11, the art seemed a little too shoujo-y and a little too young.
The characters... they were horrible! They had like, 5 lines. They were drawn well
but NOBODY would want to see them in a manga.
I didn't enjoy it at all. I don't think anybody would but it's targeted audience. If they can read right to left.
For overall, I gave it a 2. It was so horrible! I would've given it a one, but the art was okay and that was the ONLY thing good about this manga! Please! Don't read it! One of my friends actually went BLIND from reading it! D':
