Disney has Kingdom Hearts and W.I.T.C.H. wich are both great series, but that's as close to the world of Manga they should've gotten, and High School Musical: The Manga proves it.
It's an overused load of BS story that was already a corporately-whored out ripoff of another series (Grease, wich was GREAT) that tells the tale of a bunch of fairytale endings in High School. I'm gonna put this out now by saying that I'm in High School right now, and it's NOTHING like this BS. Hell, Rosario+Vampire is a more accurate depiction of High School life than this load of crap is.
I'll be fair though,
it was drawn fairly decently. It doesn't make up for the fact that it's unreadable, though.
If you somehow find this on your shelf, you'dve better have gotten it on a bet, because otherwise you completely fail at all types of life. I wouldn't even torture your poor computer through reading it or downloading it online. It's that bad.
What do you get when you mix a fairly decent mangaka who's out of ideas and Disney - who now wants to become international with no avail? You get High School Musical! The manga. Yay! No, I'm kidding. It was dreadful.
Story: It was absolutely pathetic. I hated HSM when it was a stupid kids' movie, so I'm not exactly sure why I was drawn to the manga. I read 1 chapter, and I could already tell the score would be the same amount of chapters I read. Which was close to 0. Everything in the first chapter was rushed and the timing was horrible.
Given, this was not the mangaka's actual plot, so I can't say I hate her just yet...
Art: The art was pretty good, to be honest. I gave it a fair 6. Hey, anyone who can make a guy with the bushiest hair I have ever seen in my life look good, is amazing in my standards.
Character: Dreadful. They're all perfect little teenagers who think they have it bad because of some relationships flaw. Oh puh-lease. Given, the character development is a 2.
Enjoyment: Too bad they don't have any score lower than a 1.
Overall: It was just terrible. A 1, obviously. I truly hated it, and I should've never started reading it. The only good aspect was the cute art. But don't let this manga that should have never been created let you ignore the mangaka's other works. I've read some of her other shoujo mangas - and they were pretty good.
This manga is so unbelievably pathetic that it doesn't deserve a lengthy review - I'm truly not sure whether MAL users are trolling when they actually care enough to dissect why this manga is bad, when it's literally ten pages.
Granted, it should get extra merit points for the comedic value.
I won't advise you to read this, but it's definitely a great manga to share with your peers and go "BEST MANGA OF 5EVER READ OR DIE" and watch their horrified expressions.
This was dreadful, I wasted my time reading this. There was no actual story and there were only two characters. The movies were better than this!
It was pathetic! The artist really killed her career, I don't know why anyone would make a High School Musical manga.
The art was okay, it was too sparkly for High School Musical. Since the movie was supposed to appeal to all genders and young children around the ages 6-11, the art seemed a little too shoujo-y and a little too young.
The characters... they were horrible! They had like, 5 lines. They were drawn well
but NOBODY would want to see them in a manga.
I didn't enjoy it at all. I don't think anybody would but it's targeted audience. If they can read right to left.
For overall, I gave it a 2. It was so horrible! I would've given it a one, but the art was okay and that was the ONLY thing good about this manga! Please! Don't read it! One of my friends actually went BLIND from reading it! D':
Don't dismiss this opportunity to try the limited one chapter available. Very sweet read, easy enough to understand and followed the films closely (based mostly on the 3rd film).
Would love to see more released as anyone here would but what can ya do? If you enjoy this why not re-watch the films am I right? As a fellow wildcat I can say this manga put my head in the game ;)
A classic scene featuring the tree house heartwarming discussion of future prospects leaves us wondering how graduation will turn out. You can clearly see this piece may have influenced works such as K-on!, Love
Live, High School Star Musical as well as epics such as Star Wars. Clearly one of the best coming of age tales of not only modern day but all time.
Honestly a true masterpiece of our time taking detail and scenery into account.
This manga saved my marriage, saved my business, brought back my dead grandmother, helped my son who was struggling in life, cured me of cancer and so much more. There is not a day that I don't read this blessed story. This is the perfect manga (the perfect anime being Pingu in the Tiddy), I loved the amazing and breathtaking story of Trog, Gabriella and Chad. This is what Prometheus really gave to us mortals, I still don't believe that the gods would believe that we where worthy of such knowledge. Everything about this is perfect, the casuals here keep saying that this series is
"trash" but they watch stuff like the uncreative and boring "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure," the overly cute "Junji Itou Manga" or the poorly written "Monogatari." This manga, however, is the best slice of life, horror, hentai, mecha, magical girl, idol, wincest, isekai, futanari, BDSM and shonen battle series and if you say otherwise, you are wrong. Chad is a waaaaaaaay better girl than Rhaptalia, Tsuyu, Speedwagon, 02, Kanna, Hisoka, Konata or Rem. Trog is the most interesting protag of time (Pingu is tied and Kirito is 2nd.) Do yourself a favor and read this wonderful series. Ahmen 🙏🙏🙏.
Why was this even made? A legitimate question, not even just me being snarky...
If you're here because you were (or are) a High School Musical fan, I suggest you turn around and walk away. And probably try to forget about this entirely. Because even these ten pages were an ultimate waste of time, for the readers and probably everyone else who was involved.
I know that many people may disregard this because of the fact that it's a short manga and it's rated so low that you're morbidly curious, but don't, because that's what I did and I regret it entirely. This isn't even
the sort of bad that you can laugh at. It's just... bad. Not even funny bad. Just plain terrible with no apparent reason at all.
If you're still here looking for specifics, there is no plot at all. It's just Troy's thoughts on literally established canon. It's literally 10 pages, what are you expecting?
If I'm being honest, the art is bounds better than most shoujos, but that doesn't make up for the lack of anything else happening. For that reason, I rated that higher, but it doesn't erase the fact that the rest of the manga deserves no score at all.
In summary, I think this would have been better off as some sort of manga-style fan art of the movies. That's about it. This should have never been made into a legitimate manga. I mean, who's a big enough HSM fan that they're desperate enough to read manga of it, for heaven's sake?
All that being said, please don't read this. It's for your own good.
I really don't know what Disney was thinking when they thought it was a good idea to make this. Doing a review of this manga without spoilers is impossible because the story can be summed up in the synopsis paragraph.
The setting is what I assume to be the 2nd or 3rd movie. We learn from the first page that Toroy (a mistranslation of Troy) is dissatisfied with his father because he expects him to play basket ball even though he doesn't want to, but does so anyway because he's good at it. After that we see all the basketball players cheering
because they won the basketball championship. Then we are introduced to Gabrielle and learn that she is Toroy's girlfriend and that she was accepted into Stanford, and Toroy was accepted to Albuquerque to play basketball to live his father's dream. It then ends a celebration and Toroy saying that they are graduating soon. But with only 10 pages (7 of which is the actual "story") the story is basically nonexistent.
This is the strong point of the manga. Asabuki Mari has done wonderful work with the art, and it's a shame that it was wasted on rubbish like this.
Toroy is the main character, but his development is nonexistent. He plays basketball because his father is living his dreams through him.
Gabriella is Toroy's girlfriend which is all we know about her apart from the fact that she was accepted into Stanford.
Chad is a character who's only appearance is on page 5 where we see him congratulating Toroy.
Toroy's father is an unseen character who is living out his dream through his son because he was apparently unable to do so himself.
There really wasn't much to enjoy about manga, but the art certainly contributed to it.
After finding the average score for all the categories I came up with the 3.75 which I rounded to 4 because I'm only allowed to use a solid number as a score. Just because I gave the series a 4 doesn't mean anything though. The art is the only reason it has the score it does, and as such I cannot recommend this to anybody.
This manga is a must read. It truly helped me through all the tough times in my life, such a short but emotional and fulfilling story totally representing the movie perfectly. It's like it takes all three of the movies and just makes the ultimate Disney x manga masterpiece. Best Disney money investment I've seen in years.
Please give this manga a read it'll send you into a spiral of lovely emotions on levels even popular manga such as BNHA, One Piece, or Naruto couldn't achieve.
Reading such an inspiring well thought out and developed piece really changed my out look on the detail and effort put
into every manga published. Disney approving and branding this total top seller has truly been a blessing.
This manga... If you haven't already read this, you should kill yourself. This was so good that i actually cried when it ended because it was such a long and endearing journey(10 pages). The characters were flawless, the story fantastic. The art was so good it looked like someone turned RTX on. I enjoyed it so much that it cured my diarrhea(enjoyment does that to me). Overall, i have never read anything this amazing in my life. Would recommend. This
review was too short to be submitted so here is something interesting for you:
Human feces (or faeces in British English; Latin: fæx) are the solid or semisolid remains of food that could not be digested or absorbed in the small intestine of humans, but has been rotted down by bacteria in the large intestine. It also contains bacteria and a relatively small amount of metabolic waste products such as bacterially altered bilirubin, and the dead epithelial cells from the lining of the gut. It is discharged through the anus during a process called defecation.
Human feces have similarities to feces of other animals and vary significantly in appearance (i.e. size, color, texture), according to the state of the diet, digestive system and general health. Normally human feces are semisolid, with a mucus coating. Small pieces of harder, less moist feces can sometimes be seen impacted in the distal (final or lower) end. This is a normal occurrence when a prior bowel movement is incomplete, and feces are returned from the rectum to the large intestine, where water is absorbed.
In the medical literature, the term "stool" is more commonly used than "feces".
Human feces together with human urine are collectively referred to as human waste or human excreta. Containing human feces, and preventing spreading of pathogens from human feces via the fecal–oral route, are the main goals of sanitation.
