I rarely give 10/10 reviews. I give it to this series with absolutely no hesitation whether it's a 9 or 9.5. It's a 10/10.

This series not only heals the soul but it fills it up and satisfies it.

This is vital reading for anyone wanting to take a dedicated single parent seriously.

Not only does this have the main character grow progressively. You feel like you are really growing too as a person right alongside him.

Yes, I was expecting ecchi and cheap laughs given the premise, and then the occasional romantic and dramatic moment. But this wasn't like that at all. It was slice of life through ... and through that had a fervently genuine touch that makes you contemplate about the basics of life again. Strangely, I felt this same touch when I watched ReLIFE for the first time. Nothing is heavy-handed or complicated here. Just a gentle and steady pat on your head as you read every chapter.

Thank you for writing this story. It has truly touched me deeply.

Okay, this manga is good. It's got what I have been craving for in a mature romance slice of life.

A story about a widow moving on from her late husband, something that Natsuyuki Rendezvous had but didn't do as well as this one. Check.
A wholesome romance without unnecessary drama and rivals? Check.
A story with the same vibe as Chichi wo Hige? Check.
A protagonist who starts off innocent and ignorantly naive, grows to be a more mature, and thoughtful person? Check.

The best hook in this story is when she said "Can a freeter like you, possibly raise a child?" That hit me so hard, that ... I'd just had to read it, and it was so good. The art style isn't really the best, but it delivers the story well and is just the right slice of life that satisfies my taste. Though, the fanservice is kinda out of place at times, since instead of making me cry, I unironically laugh when that happens in a scene.

The slow yet simple progression of the story makes me so happy to look back at what happened at the start, and it's so satisfying to see how the male lead developed as a character. The dynamics of each character are so cute to see, and how they support and help each other is so wholesome.

Yet, even with that, they don't shy away from the mature stuff, and deal with themes, like grief, passion, raising children, maturity, college, and love. Both familial and romantic. I wish there were more chapters though but I don't think I could end the story better myself, as this ending is very satisfying and open enough to imagine.

After going through my backlogs of manga, I've stumbled back to this title ever since putting it off for quite some time now. It ended up completed, so might as well finish reading it.

And I didn't regret doing so.

Here's my review:

Story: 8
At first the plot seems very generic: boy is with girl, gathers confidence to confess, ends up rejected, but in a matter of time might win girl's heart over at the end. It's generic at first, but after that the plot becomes more real and grounded.
I'd give it an 8 because it's a solid story, and the way the MC progresses as a ... character is really realistic and grounded.
It may be a story about getting together with a mom, but for me it's a journey of person who used the mistakes he made at first as learning experiences in order to grow into a more respectable and mature person.

Art: 7
Really solid art, gives off a distinct charm to the manga itself. Scenes are nice, expressions are portrayed really well. It gets the job done.

Character: 10
The character development of everyone involved is amazing. The MC finally grows a pair and becomes a chad throughout the manga. Realizing his mistakes, learning from them and becoming a different person from what we saw in chapter one. All in all, I like him as an MC.
The mom in question is really cute, her development in the manga is noticeable and you would end up rooting for her as she continues pursuing her goals.

I also like that they added kids in the story to serve as bridges to the gap the MC and the mom has. They serve good roles in making the two lovebirds realize feelings for each other and are awesome wingmen throughout the story.

Enjoyment: 10
I loved the manga as a whole, it's a realistic way of portraying how someone improves themselves after going though a mistake in their life. Using that mistake as a way of learning and developing their character.

Overall: 8
Great manga, really underrated, would recommend to everyone wanting a good romcom.
