At least it's not an isekai. But let me say, this is a first where I've read a manga getting worse, both in the story and in comedy, but also art.
Story: 5
The story's okay, not completely niche but fitting for a romance-comedy. Other than that, just serviceable, and you won't really get attached to any other characters other than our main two. It does also follow a linear story, might get boring but at least it's consistent in that way.
But, I get very confused by the setting very often. Not just that, while the story very often has fan service, for some reason devolves into
...
just h*nt*i, and then continues the regular plot? I really feel like the author just got bored of the manga, and is just doing whatever to try and get themselves out.
Art: 4
There are more inconsistencies like clothing being very modern, like a person with a sweater or regular school outfits in Japan, buildings that are, while Japanese, why the hell do they have medieval things?
It's simple at first glance, but just taking a second more to look, I don't understand why there are so many modern things in this fantasy manga.
It's a world where people use magic and swords, but there is somehow a regular, plugged electric lamp? (Lazily/horribly drawn as well, may I might add).
That means they are advanced enough for electricity but haven't gotten further? Or is it powered by magic, but then if magic's so advanced, why aren't their fights more tactical, instead of just rushing through with a melee weapon? They don't answer this, but continue with their plot, ignoring any small details that would make sense.
Even so, I could've somewhat ignored this. Heck, the story might've benefited from having a mix of fantasy, medieval and modern at the same time, even though they never address it. But the biggest issue is how the art gets *worse*
It's incredible, I would post an example if I could, but they just gave up and drew a normal modern room for one of the main characters, with a very modern cabinet, and a modern lamp that has almost zero 3d dimensions. The lamp was almost quite literally, just an icon of a lamp. It's amazing, because the panel right underneath showed a somewhat detailed wooden table, with a metal thing that's holding a gem, supposedly shining for light.
The inconsistencies continue rapidly, as you see random characters having a very modern look, or just looking like lazy cosplayers.
Character: 5
The character interaction with the main characters is the only saving grace. The comedic/romance, that is, where you see a boy trying to comedically win a woman's heart. It's serviceable, and honestly the only saving grace from being just being a complete bore, and *maybe* the story, but that's it. The side characters are just generic or downright just made to be sexual objects, except for one character. Oh, and the fan service, I suppose. There's a LOT of those.
Overall: 4
I really can't see anyone hyping up for this manga, it's like trying to hype up another generic isekai, but done worse. The story's okay, it's trying to be something and does have a certain mystery (even though I have a feeling what it is), the art actually makes me sad how it went from okay to just confusion and the main characters missing eyes. The main characters are enjoyable to read, but the side characters I've already forgotten about.
Started off enjoyable, but upon re-reading it, you would find more enjoyment even re-reading "okay" manga instead of this.
