These manga are two very different approach's to the same story. The budding romance between a boy and a deaf girl. Koe no Katachi takes a slightly darker theme tackling a lot of serious problems like bullying and suicide. On the other hand, Yubisaki to Renren is much more light hearted and focusing on the romance between the ML and FL. These are both amazing manga that I cannot recommend enough!!

A Galaxy Next Door and A Sign of Affection are two romance series featuring two young adults, where at least one of them are not like most other people—in A Sign of Affection, the female lead Yuki has actually been deaf since birth, while in A Galaxy Next Door, the female lead Shiori seems to be from another world... literally (I say "at LEAST one" because the male lead in A Sign of Affection is also not like most since he is multilingual). The romance between the male and female leads takes its time and is rather wholesome.

Golden Japanesque and A Sign of Affection are two modern shoujo manga where a romance forms after the male lead meets the female protagonist and causes her to essentially open up from her otherwise kept-to-herself life. Language and/or language barriers are bit of a common theme, whether it be between Japanese and English, or spoken and sign language. The dynamics of the relationship are pretty different (especially when Golden Japanesque is very much a drama), but both series have rather wholesome romantic development.

A Sign of Affection and The Witch and Her First Love are two delightfully sweet romance manga with a relative shy female lead and her love interest being a much more popular boy. There's not much of your usual shoujo love triangle shenanigans here; most of the series is spent on these two building a relationship together with lots of really cute interactions, and the main character's best friend even gets a romantic relationship developed too. Both manga have hints of delicacy to their art as well.

A Sign of Affection and I Am Here are two shoujo manga series following a really shy female student and her budding relationship with at least one boy who is really popular with their peers. I Am Here adds a lot more drama, but otherwise the tone of how the story is paced and the characters' interactions feels really similar, especially with how mobile phones play a part in the story. The art of both series are also really beautiful and aesthetically pleasing!

Both series have a protagonist who is deaf/hearing impaired, with a partner who has no hearing issues. The series focuses on the difficulties not only in communicating between the two partners, but also developing their relationship due to very real and literal miscommunications. They're slow burn, but very realistic and honest in their character and plot developments.

Both stories shows the blooming relationship between someone with hearing disabilities. in Yubisaki to Renren the main character is deaf rather than the male lead, but still conveys similar themes with learning about sign language.

I have to reccommend Komi for this series cause 1.Both series are about relationships with a communication barrier. with Yuki being deaf and having to use stuff like texts and notepads to talk while Komi is mute and super shy using the same methods of communication except sign language 2.both are very warm and gentle relationships. 3. both females leads want to broaden their views of the world w/ new experiences, yuki w/ traveling the world & komi with experiencing friendship the only reall differences is a sign of affection focuses on the mature adult aspects of being in love. while Komi cant communicate is a shy highschool student  read more

"A Sign of Affection" and "A Condition Called Love" both are published under the same magazine (Kodansha's "Dessert") and both feature very wholesome protagonists who are learning how to express love for the first time. "A Sign of Affection" is about a girl who is deaf and a boy who learns sign language to communicate with her and "A Condition Called Love" is about a couple who is mismatched in their levels of passion (overzealous vs. doesn't know what love is) together learning how to match each other's pace. I highly recommend reading both of these as they're both very sweet shoujo stories that leave  read more
