Looking for a new animal companion, but tired of the same ol' cats and dogs? Here are some manga featuring unusual creatures that you'd never expect to see as pets! Yo besties, I've been having a challenge of reading short manga. though i prefer mean faeries, modernised cute fairies are also super enjoyable to read about!! here is a stack of manga that feature these fairies, helpful characters that seek to assist or bless humans. to qualify, they must feature at least one named fae character OR have significant bearing on the plot. manga about humans and their supernatural pets! these pets are either undefined lil weirdos, magical beasts, talking animals, eldritch beings, or mythical creatures-- and all very loved by their owners! to qualify, these pets must be markedly abnormal from a regular pet, either by appearance, species, mysterious abilities, or behaviour. the pet must be considered outside-of-normal either by their owners or strangers that encounter them and the owner may have to hide their abnormality from others. if the pet looks like a domestic animal but talks, and this is considered normal in-universe, the manga may still be considered for this stack. weird-looking pets that are normalised within the world they are set in may also be considered. the feeling of weirdness towards the pet can also be temporary for the entry to still count; after all, humans adapt to strange things very easily when they're cute! Seinen Manga often follows this unrealistic rhetoric of dark, violent, and sexual, whilst remaining consistent in a detailed and realistic style of art. However, not only is this an uneducated and rigid framework, but remains damaging by further perpetuating gender stereotypes. Here is a list of manga I have gathered published within the seinen demographic which feature softer, more feminine approach to concepts and stories. |
