Preliminary (64/65 chp)
Updating this now that I've finished reading.

Yeah, yeah. My second review, and it's for another of Yayoi Sou's works. I'll admit it, I'm a bit biased towards her works. I definitely have my reasons though.

Before anything else, this is slice of life. Let's just get that out of the way. Another thing that should be said is that this story deals with heavier topics than your usual slice of life... Specifically sexual abuse, depression, suicide, violence. That doesn't mean it's a depressing or especially 'heavy' story, though. I actually believe the author has done a wonderful job of telling this story and developing all of ...

Preliminary (32/65 chp)
Humans are social creatures. Ever since the beginning, we’ve communicated with each other to help ourselves and our surroundings evolve. From stories, to speeches, to mere conversations, we talk about anything and anyone. But sometimes, you experience something that shakes you to your core, and you become unable to talk about certain experiences or events. These problems make it hard for some to communicate, and keeping them inside might only make them worse. Blue Hearts is a story all about that.

It is a rather dark story that involves certain topics like sexual assault, bullying, suicide, etc. Written by Yayoi Sou, the author of ReLife, ...

I came into this with high hopes having just finished Relife, but was disappointed. I'm not sure why it is so much shorter than Relife is, but I really feel like this could have been so much better if it was twice as long, as it felt so rushed. I might talk about light spoilers so stop reading if you don't want to see anything. If you're just looking for an opinion to decide whether to read this or not, I would recommend not to.

It's kind of just forced on you that the 5 main characters become friends. The first arc feels so weird, ...

One thing that comes to my mind after I read this manga up to chapter 30 and went to checked the MAL page for Blue Hearts is..

"Wow.. is this for real? So few people have been reading this one compared to ReLIFE? How come a lot of people love ReLIFE but doesn't like (or maybe haven't heard) Blue Hearts?"

The story of Blue Hearts actually takes the same setting as ReLIFE being in high school. Difference is, this time its a real world without supernatural stuffs like the pill on ReLIFE. But what can I say? The story is great, the art also remains wonderful as ...

Preliminary (64/65 chp)
Blue Hearts, much like the author's previous work Re:Life, is a well paced slow burn through the issues that society can throw at its characters.

What do I mean by this? The series follows a relatively episodic format, dealing with each character's backstory in turn. The result is a very well fleshed out main cast and some very strong dynamics between them, with the drawback that the plot is relatively weak. That being said, the characters and pacing are more than good enough to carry you to the end without getting bored, so unless you only care about the story this won't ever drag on.

Alongside its ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (54/65 chp)
If you had told me this was the author's first work, I probably would have liked it better. However, considering this came after ReLife... it's very much a downgrade from the quality of that story. Thing is, characters do get time to develop, but there isn't a single like-able character in this story. I think that's the biggest thing it suffers from.

The sudden closeness of the characters, is a bit weird. You're not usually like that with someone after three months of hanging out with them. It just doesn't feel right. There are good parts mind you, but I'm rating this on the merits of ...

This story is so good just like Re:life and the reason for that is I can relate to how some these characters feel and they actually feel like your normal everyday person. The drama was interesting too and it made sense for why the character would act a certain way.

As for the art I love it and it's easily recognizable to me and the characters reactions to me were realistic since I feel I would act the same way in the situations they were in especially the feeling of overcoming a huge test.

The flow of the story was predictable I only mean where they ...
