A lot of nurses in manga in middle/high schools are depicted as sexy and all they guys want to be sent to them. in Do You Like the Nerdy Nurse? or Do You Like the Otaku Nurse?, she is indeed something to look at but, as the title says, she is more into gaming and manga characters then she is into other people. Though she tries to hide it, she usually fails when she is with Tomotsu as he knows about the same things as she does, and she finally has someone to share her fixation with.

There isn’t really much of a plot just more of a story about people who loves anime. It’s very simple and easy to follow and read and no real character development or any sort of arc. The drawing of the nurse was great if I was to say anything.

It’s not a bad read as it’s just simple and fun to read. It’s very light hearted and as for romance, there’s nothing. It’s just a student crushing on his teacher/nurse which I can relate lol

So if you something simple and don’t care for plot or anything, it’s not bad. Not a manga I think a lot ...

tl;dr: A manga that’s completely and utterly hollow.

This manga is very bizarre, but not in an interesting way. It completely lacks any direction whatsoever. It’s about Momoyama, the nurse at a middle school who is an otaku and does various otaku things and Kurita, a member of the public health committee, who is also somewhat of an otaku. That’s not a bad concept to start with, but the problem is that that’s pretty much all this manga has. There’s no substance. It’s just a bunch of short chapters showing her living her life without any sort of progression at all.

If it was exaggerated or there ... was drama or something like that that could make things interesting, but everything always goes pretty smoothly and nothing extreme ever happens. Kurita has a crush on Momoyama, but it doesn’t go anywhere at all. Obviously, realistically romance was unlikely considering the age gap, but it doesn’t lead to anything at all. No character growth. No exploration of themes regarding youth and whatnot. Nothing. There are also some light hints about how Kurita may feel a lack of parental love, but that too is just randomly thrown in for a bit at times and never used for anything at all. Kurita as a whole is pretty much a non-character who exists solely for the sake of Momoyama having someone to talk to about otaku things essentially but the story tries to frame him as the deutragonist which just doesn’t work at all.

If it got super in depth into the otaku related topics it covered that could have been interesting, but it’s incredibly superficial about them, basically just touching on that they exist and then moving on. It touches on various things like gacha, BL, cosplay, being a superfan, having a husbando, etc. but it says very little about each of them. Part of that comes down to how it seems it doesn’t want to spend more than a chapter on each topic, but more so the problem arises from how little it even tries to say. It just basically points out something that otaku do and then throws in a light punchline or two. It’s never all that interesting or insightful, nor is it ever all that funny.

If it used references to other franchises well that too could have been interesting, but it’s not particularly great at that either. It’s full of very specific references to lots of different things, such as Fate Grand Order, Detective Conan (specifically the 20th movie The Darkest Nightmare), and Shinkalion. However, these references are too realistic for a lack of a better way to explain it. It doesn’t use the references to make jokes or any broader points. They’re just things that Momoyama has seen or plays so she talks about them a bit. I suppose it could be relatable in a sense, but I feel it’s just too normal for that to really do much. Like, I’m not going to feel a character realistically praying for and getting a good gacha roll without any additional context is any more relatable than a character realistically drinking a glass of water when really thirsty. It’s just too simple and common an occurrence.

As a last resort, if it had good ecchi than that might have been enough to save the manga too, but there’s actually very little ecchi in this manga, and what little there is is terrible because the art for it doesn’t work at all. Though the art in general is fine, not particularly good or bad, albeit pretty plain all around.
