I wrote a longer review for my website: https://sequentialplanet.com/manga-review-shishunki-renaissance-david-kun/
To summarize, Shishunki Renaissance! David-kun was one of the ongoing series I most looked forward to each week. With its colorful cast and wacky visual gags, almost every chapter had me laughing out loud. But besides the humor, you really do become invested in each character over time and the very few serious moments hit hard because of the emotional attachment you realize you have with everyone. I'm sad it got cut so early, but I'm glad we got these 35 chapters. Maybe we'll get an OVA at some point? Fingers crossed.

This is the stupidest and funniest thing I've read from weekly jump. I haven't laughed so hard since reading DMC. You might think at first glance that a statue high school manga couldn't really be that funny, and after each chapter you might think it cant get any more stupid than it already has, but it does.
I'm not over exaggerating when I say this manga is the most stupid thing to come out of weekly jump so far, I read pretty much everything on weekly jump for a while now, which is how I found this amazing series. To me there's no comedy manga ... Jul 21, 2019
Never have I been so intrigued with the art world before reading this manga, and never have I laughed the most reading one either. Recognizable figures in works of art from different eras, mainly Renaissance, attend high school, hilarity, drama and romance ensues.
Not only is the artwork downright incredible, but the different applications of it for the sake of parody always leaves me giggling. Such important works of art in history used for comedic reactionary moments is one of the best ideas I'm glad I've read, especially when the artwork does a great job of keeping up with the details of said art it parodies. As ... Jun 16, 2020
I love this manga. First of all, this review will be treating it like a gag manga because it is a gag manga. If compared to other manga titles, it would probably be considered lower to some extent, but for gag manga it is perfection. If you don't like gag manga, don't read it. If you do, here's why you should.
First talking about the story. It's simple. The boy who looks like a statue from the renaissance wants to date the girl he likes. We see them being friends and the friend group interacting with each other throughout the series. It really only becomes plot-driven ... Aug 13, 2021
so, i saw this manga with a friend, both of us saw this manga and, as a jew i was excited for a manga with king david as its main character, oh i didnt know what i got myself into.
this manga is incredible, the art is amazing and the use of poses and designs from famous art pieces is brilliant, the fact that they live in a universe where there is a baby wearing a jotaro hat while pissing everywhere is hilarious. the use of famous characters like king david, venus, mona lisa and others is just smart. the show is also a giant joke (in a ... |
