A story about a hero who needs to protect the world being thrown out and joining the demon army he just defeated. The characters are enjoyable to read even if a few are somewhat cliche, and their interactions together have managed to achieve both comedy and drama. The story has some interesting elements in both world building and character interactions. It hasn’t fully cashed in on all of them yet but its been an enjoyable and interesting read so far. I am a little bit worried since it seemed to have reached the point where it could have ended in a satisfactory way even if ... it would have been short, and didn’t end there. Wether it was a good idea to keep going or not I’ll have to wait and see but ultimately this was an enjoyable story with an mc who is rightfully overpowered and I hope it keeps its level of quality or improves from now on.

An amazing manga that has amazing twists. Unlike many of the critical reviews for this series claim, it does not have a bad story narrative nor does it have awful flat characters. Those critiques I have noticed did not read to the twist and dropped it very quickly. These twists establish characters and plot in a layered, and deeply human sense that shocks almost everyone that reads it, and has them wanting to learn more. However, I will not disclose any more information other than the twist being under 15 chapters so it does not spoil the experience. (Ignore this text. It is just to ... let my review submit because of the minimum rule).

This is a very solid manga, and I just want to clear up some of the complaints that I keep seeing with this review. As you may have noticed, two of the four reviews on MAL (as of July 17th, 2022) are very negative calling it "Mansplaining the manga," and honestly I get how they came to that conclusion considering how fast they dropped it. The big twist comes around chapters 11-12 and that's when most of the character building for Leo starts. I felt that this series was less about Leo mansplaining to everyone how to do their jobs and more ... so about flawed characters learning lessons and becoming better people. Trust, organization, communication, putting yourself in someone else's shoes, not judging a book by its cover, the value of friendship, each character lacks one of these qualities, including Leo himself and this story is more about them growing and overcoming those flaws together, rather than "OP MC mansplains to women how to do their job." In the first couple of chapters, admittedly Leo does seem a little bit like a hollow shell for you to project yourself into, but I really think that that hollow feeling comes from Leo not wanting to open up to his own issues and not because he's just another Kirito. After the twist, the manga drastically improves, with all of the characters feeling like pretty 3-dimensional people with their own sets of problems, hopes, and dreams, and they all work together and learn to overcome their weaknesses. Also, Melnes crossdresses as a maid 11/10

Yuusha Yamemasu is one of the most underrated manga I have seen on this site, owing to the first ten or so chapters being "mansplaining the manga", as said by other reviewers. I can see where they come from, but judging a work and even writing a review for it when you have read just ten chapters... feels wrong.

If you stick thru those 10 chapters to the main twist, you will be pleasantly surprised to see that many characters, especially the MC himself, Leo, have gained quite a bit of depth. It is by no means a masterpiece, but I do believe it is something ... most fantasy/isekai fans will enjoy.

In a way comparable to a titan of the genre - Mushoku Tensei - the author explores the MC's trauma and emotions in a decently mature way, working thru them one by one, and building up to emotional moments. There is nothing more satisfying in a work of fiction than seeing that happen - the before and after, seeing your favorite character be happy at long last. It touches on topics that you rarely see in this genre, such as immorality. I found that aspect of the story very interesting and entertaining for myself.

The romance is gentle, each of the main pair coming to like and trust each other more and more as they spend more time with and learn about each other. It is a fun and cute dynamic, which is written way out of its league, like many other aspects of the manga.

At the moment (19/8/23), MAL still has not updated it, but the manga is indeed over, and even though I think that there is much more to the world of Yuusha Yamemasu than there is in the manga, the ending doesnt feel at all forced, rather leaving the reader with an open end, for their imagination to continue the exploits of the Hero and the Demon Queen.

For any Isekai or Fantasy fans, I definitely recommend this manga, even if it can be rough in places, trust me, it will be well worth it.

P.S. You will have to buy the last 9 chapters if you want to read in English, as I believe the groups that translated most of Yuusha Yamemasu dropped it when it started getting released by Yen Press for legal reasons. If you do decide to buy them, the whole series is available on Book Walker.

worldbuilding 3/10 - as much as i love the story, the worldbuilding is just subpar. written so unreasonably and conveniently. also the concept is fresh and interesting, though the execution is rather unrealistic.
art 8/10 - solid and good art. nice character design.
dialogue 6/10 - some errors here and there but overall its tolerable.
enjoyment 9/10 - i loved the manga and enjoyed it alot.
characters 6/10 - so unrealistic and sometimes cliche and tropey, but tolerable for me. well, at least they are not downright unreasonable, sad that some side characters didnt have their development written.
story 8/10 - cool story, not too ... tropey, relatively new for me too. beautiful story with alot of philosophy about life and the beauty of friendship, companionship, family, etc. and it is good. though very idealistic, but it is not a bad thing. beautiful values expressed.
plot 4/10 - pretty meh tbh, doesnt feel like theres an actual climax because of how predictable the plot is, its just so anticlimatic its not interesting.
overall a pretty lighthearted read though too idealistic for me to not notice, still a very solid read though.
final score 6.3/10

This has got to be one of the most boring things, of any genre or medium of entertainment. All the story consists of is the MC talking about how AMAZING and how great of a hero he is, whilst never demonstrating WHY that's true. He is a boring "Know it all".... The whole plot consists of him solving stupid petty issues and helping the demon army become more efficient.

Its an absolute snooze fest. There is NO plot to be had here making it DOA. No action, no genuine laughs, just..... mansplaining.

No one is fun in this manga. Every character is flat and boring, ... with no interesting traits.
The art is passable at best. Just... dont read this.

Mansplaining the manga...

This starts off with a bang. The hero is fed up with his role and wants to switch to the demon side filling up a work application and submitting his resume to the Maou... that he just beat up in battle, destroyed her castle, annihilated her army... you get where this is going.

Anyway he's there in stealth mode to prove his worth and join the other side which is where the story begins.

It's also where the story ends because the entire manga in nothing but him mansplaining the women's job to them. That's it. They're incompetent morons and he, and only, knows ... how to do everyone's job right.

There are two other men in this manga and the way it deals with them is beyond pathetic. One is a dad and they take him out for the picture almost immediately so the MC can mansplain to his daughter. The other was already a bit iffy as they made him slim and on the feminine side in comparison to the MC but... yeah it's drag, they couldn't have the MC instruct a MAN on his job. They put him in drag and had him act all feminine so the MC could "very literally" look down on him and Mansplain while the other is in tears.

This started off with a good premise and the situations the characters are put in are interesting to start with. The manga however refuses to do anything with them. The MC, each and every time, stands over a woman looking down and tells her how to do her job "the right way".

If you've watched "I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level" this one has a very similar vibe only the art design is more generic and the characters flatter than a board.

Interesting idea, boring execution, boring art, crappy dialogue, VERY repetitive and predictable.
