Synopsis

After reflecting on the current state of Japanese soccer, the Japanese Football Association decides to hire the enigmatic and eccentric coach Jinpachi Ego to achieve their dream of winning the World Cup. Believing that Japan has lacked an egoistic striker hungry for goals, Jinpachi initiates the Blue Lock—a prison-like facility where three hundred talented strikers from high schools all over Japan are isolated and pitted against each other. The sole survivor of Blue Lock will earn the right to become the national team's striker, and those who are defeated shall be banned from joining the team forever.

Selected to join this risky project is Yoichi Isagi, a striker who failed to bring his high school soccer team to the national tournament. After choosing to pass to a teammate who missed instead of scoring on his own, he could not help but wonder if the results would have been different had he been more selfish. Using this golden opportunity given by the Blue Lock Project, Yoichi aims to clear his doubts and chase his ultimate desire—to become the greatest striker in the world and lead Japan to World Cup glory.

Personally, my favorite manga I've ever read. I usually only read manga when I enjoyed the anime and wanted to read ahead because at the time of the anime airing which was during the World Cup, I was just hyped when watching the anime. I read every chapter when the anime had ended. I can say this a manga that I enjoyed. The story is pretty simple and self-explanatory but it resonated with me because I enjoy watching soccer so when I found this anime it was the best thing I've seen in a sports anime. If you enjoy sports manga or anime then this ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (241/? eps)
The anime was not bad at all, I really liked the story and concept, and then I read the manga lol, I've got to say really liked the world cup arc or something, don't remember what's it called, and then they met with some foreign players or some shit, I was like ok ok, author may be cooking, then idk what happened it just got boring, and there was like a system based players value and shit, might be your sauce, definitely not mine, and there was one game where it took 20-30 chapters or something ( didn't fact check this, check yourself) , and ...

The best football manga for people who have never played football

Generic characters. Unnecessarily corny and edgy dialogue. The art saves the series. Feels like the research done for this series was done on the football wikipedia page. Storytelling and pacing is okay and can get you hooked but gets very repetitive as the series progresses. If you like a self insert power fantasy under the pretext of a football manga, then go ahead read Blue Lock. If you prefer something more grounded and showcases actual football then I would heavily recommend to stay away from Blue Lock.

TL;DR Ao Ashi clears
