Now that is ONE HELL of an annoying manga.
What's annoying about it is that I can't manage to decide whether it's great or terrible.
Having read hundreds of mangas, I can usually tell within the first 10 pages when one is utter garbage. There are glaring signs that you can't NOT see when you know them.
Dumb characters, lack of character development, lack of context/explanation, needlessly fast pace, cheap and clumsy fanservice, confusing situations and dialogs, vague and half-assed world-building, and even actual inconsistencies.
And this manga is riddled with those. And yet it's interesting, and I can't help but want to read more.
It's like the author feels
obligated to keep his karmic balance precisely neutral, by offsetting each "Great Idea" he gets with a "Terrible Idea" of equal magnitude.
And thus we end up with something that is neither good, nor bad, nor average, nor 'meh'... just a bit of each.
