The Manga Taisho (マンガ大賞) is an annual Japanese manga award. The award is limited to series with eight or fewer collected volumes, in order to promote newer titles. The nominating committee, composed of staff members from bookstores, each initially vote for five series and the titles with the top ten number of votes become the official nominees of the year. Finally a second round of voting determines the winner, as well as second and third place. Manga centered around a character's pursuit of a subject matter, e.g. an artform or career. Emphasis placed on works where the engagement with the subject matter is the driving force of the story. List of SOME mangas that has winning awards in the past. Manga that can get an Adaptation or a Sequel that haven't got announced yet. (not just manga but I don't want to bog down the title) Seinen manga that can be enjoyed by underage (-18) readers. There are manga that are so amazingly well done that they set the bar a tad too high for any anime adaptation. But then there are attempts to bring them to the screen that go beyond that and don't stop at failing to meet expectations: they're outright lazy, shoddy, phoned-in cash grabs that drain the source material of what made it so good to begin with. Of course, this list is subjective, but these are mangas that really stood out to me due to refreshing story elements, subject matter, or unique characters. I'm not asking for reccomendations. No magic, no impossible feats, no fantasy or isekai, only gritty or light-hearted realism.
