Kyou mo Onnanoko wo Kouryaku shita feels like a manga that does exactly what it says on the tin. At it's core, it is a very simple yuri gag manga with a heavy focus on the main character, Kasumi, making friends and developing her personality. That being said, the "personality" she develops is perhaps better described as a set of interests, as her actual personality ends up remaining surprisingly static. She's very much the perfect girl - good at everything, kind to a fault, and a bit naive. There's not really much to improve on, hence the focus more on things like hobbies, friends, and
...
general interests.
The manga is cute, with nice light-hearted stories and simple gags continuing throughout. There's some minor "drama" if you want to call it that, but nothing heavy and also nothing that isn't resolved within an individual chapter. This is the second manga I've ever read, yet even so, it feels extremely unremarkable. There's nothing that will really surprise the reader, but also nothing worthy of criticizing (aside from potentially its banality).
Calling the manga "unremarkable" or "banal", as well as the rating of "Mixed Feelings" may falsely give the impression that the work is not very good. This is certainly not the case. For those who consistently consume CGDCT media with a penchant for yuri, this will certainly scratch that itch. And that's all I think the manga is really trying to do - to scratch a somewhat niche itch. Because of that, it certainly is not a manga that just anyone should pick up, however if you are the type of person to be drawn to the synopsis, then I would wholeheartedly recommend this almost as a sort of "filler" piece. For everyone else, I would say you probably shouldn't expect too much, as even though the manga is good, it's certainly not good enough to change your opinion or draw you in if you're not already interested in CGDCT or yuri.
